Scandal, Scorpions, Maiden play GH Encore
Scandal's "The Warrior" adds to set of originals; covers for .38 Special, Scorpions, Oingo Boingo, White Lion, Krokus, Romantics, Iron Maiden also announced.
Activision has hit on a winning strategy for getting rock fans to involuntarily throw up the horns in anticipation of upcoming Guitar Hero games. In the span of two days last month, the company first revealed seven songs from its '80s-centric Guitar Hero II spin-off and then 11 from its generation-spanning sequel, Guitar Hero III. Among the list for Guitar Hero Encore: Rock the 80s were covers for the Police's "Synchronicity II," Eddie Money's "Shakin'," and Poison's "Nothin' But a Good Time."
Today, Activision has returned with a new set of tracks to be featured in its upcoming big-hair tribute, including seven covers and one original. Newly announced cover tracks include: .38 Special's "Hold On Loosely," Scorpions "No One Like You," Oingo Boingo's "Only a Lad," White Lion's "Radar Love," Krokus' "Ballroom Blitz," The Romantics' "What I Like About You," and Iron Maiden's "Wrath Child." Scandal's "The Warrior" will join Twisted Sister's "I Wanna Rock" and Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran" as the game's three original tracks.
Including the eight named today, now 21 of 30 songs on Guitar Hero Encore: Rock the 80s' set list have been revealed. The game will ship later this summer exclusively on the PlayStation 2. For more information, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
