Open-world action game outpacing previous record-holder Homefront, due out November 15.

The Saints Row series is focused on over-the-top, less-than-serious action. However, what is serious is the prerelease excitement for the newest entry in the series, Saints Row: The Third. THQ has confirmed the title is on pace to become the most preordered game in the publisher's history.

THQ recently confirmed the news to British gaming site MCV, saying the game will soon eclipse the previous record-holder, Homefront, which has shipped some 2.6 million units to date.

According to THQ, the game's prerelease popularity has been largely fueled by the Professor Genki preorder bonuses that were announced just two weeks ago. Items in the Professor Genki Hyper-Ordinary pack include an "Octopuss" cannon, a man-a-pult, and a stunt suit costume.

"Since we've started this Genki activity, we've seen our rate of preorders increase dramatically week-on-week," THQ UK marketing director Jon Rooke told MCV. "That's not a pattern we've seen this early in a product before."

THQ also cleared up some uncertainty concerning the preorder pack, confirming to MCV that it will be exclusive to retailers and will not be sold as downloadable content later on.

    You know why this going to sale first set in the future what really gta do one . But im getting this saints row 3 but wont pre order it. But yes GTA next game im pre order because i belive gta worth pre ordering than saints row series.

    You're saying that GTA is greater than Saint's?

    And yet, the general consesus between GTA IV and SR II was Saint's was a much more fun game. You didn't have your crew calling you every couple of minutes to go bowling, now did it?

    I have it pre-ordered on Amazon currently, although I may drop that if they don't give more incentive. No information the pre-order bonus for Amazon, so I might just cancel and go through Steam.

    Saints Row did what GTA 4 4got 2 do which is just b fun.....Don't get me wrong GTA 4 was a good game but after the missions it just wasn't fun like GTA San Andreas was but Saints Row replaced that

    gta 5 and saints row the third will be both good the problem is gta will be realistic and SRthe3rd will be ridiculously great

    the only drawback about THQ's products is their graphic is really crappy (Excluding Metro 2033 & first S.T.A.L.K.E.R.) almost all their games had lesser graphic (Red Faction, Darksiders, Warhammer 40k, Homefront, Saints Row 2, etc). If only they could overcome this issues I believe they could become main competitor in gaming industry

    This gang is taking banging to another level.Wow.And to read that sells are high now before the game has gotten onto shelves is wild.A game that outsells itself,in a sense,is remarkable.

    Stop knocking GTA it's awesome. I have fun in both games, and I'm glad they are different, keeps things interesting. I look forward to both new installments.

    this time around thq make sure that online play does not disqualify playing co-op with people that dont have the same dlc....... like in sr2.. i had to erase all the over priced dlc for one short mission with tera patrick and the free unkutt clothes,,,,then that did not work i had to erase all my save data so me and a friend could play co op...........dont forget the compatibility pack or patch this time

    No surprise there, Saints Row has gathered plenty of fans and each game doesn't disappoint in it's over the top humor and fun, in many ways it's more fun than GTA because it doesn't take it's self seriously.

    This game is going to be pure fun, no contest.

    Well, make a couple of fun games, and people are going to start having faith in a franchise. I don't pre-order, but if I did this would be on the list... I expect more fun and mayhem on the Row.

    I don't understand why people prefer GTA IV over Saints Row. I thought the purpose of playing games was to have fun? You know, which Saints Row has tons of.

    Thats great,we need a game like that,a game that doesnt take itself seriously and that is just plain fun.Cant wait,I had a ton of fun with SR2,even though it was badly optimized for PC.Hopefully they will do better job this time.

    I've got mine preordered. I love the Saints Row series. It isn't being pretentious. It isn't trying to pretend it is art. It is just fun to start to finish and the ease in which a co-player can drop in and out and both players can work on campaign missions together is a great feature that even the great GTA series can't boast. The customization on the characters, cars, and houses is also t1ts. Can't Wait! I have no idea how I am going to have time to tackle Skyrim with SR3, BF3, and Batman all in my collection, a good problem to have though.

    I always look forward to Saints Row cause it is what GTA used to be: fun.
    Not that I dislike GTA but it's gone for a gritty, serious approach - SR takes everything that made GTA a juvenile experience and puts it together. Stuff from San Andreas will be perfected in SR3. Can't wait!!

    Nice, but I'll still wait and if the PC version is any good first before I order if that's not the case I'll probably buy it on Xbox or something.
    I love SR 2 and like it found a way to distinguish as a sandbox game
