Saints Row IV 'Super Dangerous Wub Wub Edition' revealed

$99 Collector's Edition to include 12-inch Dubstep gun equipped with laser and sound, as well as a Dubstep Doomsday button and Johnny Gat statue.

Fans have voted on what they want in a collector's edition for Saints Row IV, and now Deep Silver has responded.

Today, the publisher announced the $99 Saints Row IV Super Dangerous Wub Wub Edition, a premium bundle that packs in a 12-inch Dubstep gun (with laser and sound), as well as a Dubstep Doomsday button and a Johnny Gat statue.

The bundle includes all perks featured in the Commander in Chief version of Saints Row IV. This includes alternate box art, a 'Merica weapon, an Uncle Sam Suit, and a Screaming Eagle jet.

In Saints Row IV, players have superpowers and moonlight as the president of the United States. One of the objectives of the game is to save Earth from an alien invasion.

The game launches August 20 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, but not the Wii U. A worldwide release will follow on August 23.

Just hoping SR4 puts actual effort into the story this time. SR2 had an awesome set of very well paced stories, and then SR3 had barely a story at all. They can go as silly as they want, just as long as they remember what it was that made SR2 work so well.

Hopefully this drives the Full Package cost down. I'm trying to buy as many current gen games as I can before nextgen won't let me play anymore unless I get a third job.

Ya, I think everyone enjoyed 2. It had a sense of story but still funny at the same time. 3 was just way to gimmicky. There trying to hard to separate themselves from GTA, instead of just doing what they do with a strong story and adding the silliness. There is enough room for both games and with Watch Dogs, I wont give Saint's Row 4 a 2nd look if its anything like 3.

Am I the only person that spent loads of time driving from store to store putting together new outfits to wear?

I must have spent half the game shopping for clothes in SR2 & SR3.

Its one of my guilty pleasures.

Blood_Angel
Blood_Angel

@Diablo-B I also did that and just hated how they changed it in SR3, it is actually one of my biggest gripes about it.

In SR2 you could put clothes on top of each other, like a shirt on top of a tank top and a vest over the shirt and to finish it off with a blazer. And you could have some clothes open or closed, tucked, half-tucked or untucked.

I was sad to see in SR3 that they threw all that out and made it more simplified.

@Diablo-B I have to admit, I do stop in to the different stores, but only until I get the same outfit every time. My "Boss" always has the English accent, wears white suits with purple shirts and sun glasses. He just always has since SR2.

I love that the SR CEs always include stuff you'd only want if you were a big SR fan. I love the games, but I have the regular preordered.

I play GTA for realism and engaging storyline and I play Saints Row for sheer craziness!! I dont see how these games' comparison is even relevant!! I am gonna buy both of them!!

I see. The fans chose the most stupid possible shit so we don't even have to worry about the reviled preorders and exclusive contents.

Now I can get the normal edition sometime without worrying about losing stuff (^-^)

SR2 was great, 3 was disappointing but still very fun, I can't share the excesive hatred towards it. I still have hope for this game.

SR3 was crazy fun but a little silly... This is just stupid and douchey!! Deep Silver overhyped their own game and believed it.

People would rather have another game that's exactly like GTA?  Why?  There's already a bunch of games that have that serious open world rags to riches storyline crap and GTA V is coming out this year probably with the same old storyline that you people love to eat up.  I'm glad the creators took this direction. The gangster storyline has already been overdone and now with this we have more variety in the open world game genre, so enjoy it and stop taking games so seriously!

Diablo-B

@burns112233 I couldn't agree more. Gamers complain that games are too generic then when a game goes in a different direction they complain that it should be more like [insert older game here].

We gamers as a have no consensus and love to complain.

I don't think anyone wants another Saints Row game to be like a GTA game in tone...what most want is another Saints Row game with the tone of Saints Row 2 because that was the perfect balance; it had a good amount of grit to it at times but didn't take itself seriously the whole game.

@burns112233 Now you get to spend the next few posts explaining to me how every GTA story is the same, because that is absolutely false.

I've never been one to buy CEs of any game, no matter how cool the knickknacks they include are, and I don't plan to start any time soon.

That said I can't help but be amused by this.

Saints row 2 was good, but they changed its style to this childish shit...at least my 6 year cousin will love it.

MrStygian

Lol for everyone saying "Stick with GTA"...You do realize the developers of Saints Row have always wanted this, right? It's not meant to be taken seriously, it's not supposed to be everything GTA already provides. I enjoy the silly aspects of the game and don't expect it to be a "GTA clone"

@MrStygian The silly aspects in SR2 were great, but then they made them celebrities, and now super heroes.. it's not silly and fun anymore.. now it's just stupid.

So you shell out $99 for some cheapy extras then cough up how much more for the DLC to come?  SR3 had *tons* of DLC content and I haven't seen anything to suggest this will be different.

Collector's edition?  No way.  I'll wait for the complete edition.

@brxricano

It actually sounds like fun, but it has to be done right. The Rows I've played just felt too childish. I couldn't get in them the way I do with GTA. I need more realism and more plausible plot. Plus it ripped off GTA. The characters are still too cartoony and over the top. A renter for sure.

@erix43 @brxricano I feel you but for me thats kinda the point. Its what you have a taste for atm. lol I dont relate to gangstas so that makes it easy.

I would have considered getting this if the Gat statue was colored and didn't have the stupid dubstep gun and doomsday button. I wish it had the other stuff from that poll they took to see what people would like in the collector's edition and I guess a lot of people wanted those things in it.

I'm hoping SR IV will be great.  I doubt I'll be getting the wub wub edition, but might pick up the Commander in Chief version.  I remember watching videos for SR 3 and thinking it looked incredibly stupid because it went so far with the humor, but I ended up loving it like the first two.  Sure the series has gotten a lot less serious over time, I think it's a nice juxtaposition to GTA, which took the opposite route.  Being more outlandish and getting more serious as it developed. I also have no qualms with it starting out as DLC.  That doesn't necessarily mean it is going to be crap or have less content.  I like to think of it as having a head start on development.  Hopefully that's right...

Lambchopzin
Lambchopzin

@isv666 I was kind of the same way. I tried SR3 on a whim, thinking I would probably hate it but I was feeling especially open-minded that day, and it was on sale on Steam so that didn't hurt.

Didn't take long for me to fall in love with it.

I've been a fan of Saints Row since the first, but this $99 package is ridiculous.(Yes, just like the game, but still.) Besides, I, like tons of others(exaggerated guess) already pre-ordered this game, maybe if they revealed this sooner, than some devotes would by it.  By the way, why does it say in the article August 20 twice?

Black_Knight_99
Black_Knight_99

@BloodyAura 100 is a rip off the thing included in the collection editons are worth proably 20 all of it besides the game

Marky360
Marky360

So $20 for the gun + $20 for the statue and like what $10 for the little doomsday button plus $60 for the game=$110 so it's not really a rip off really.

Zloth2
Zloth2

@Marky360 BWAHAHAA!  No, like $1 for the gun, $2 for the statue, and a few cents for the button.  This IS a massive rip off just like all the other collector's editions.

roman4545
roman4545

@Marky360

maybe not a rip off but that is expensive !.. the worst thing that can happen. is if those extra are very cheap plastic feel.. then i guess this is really a ripoff..

Marky360
Marky360

Even if you did already pre-order you could switch it over to this version and just pay the difference. I also have already pre-ordered but I don't really want that extra's that come with this version of the game.
