Rush Hour director making FarmVille TV show

Brett Ratner to produce half-hour animated television show based on Zynga's popular online game.

Rush Hour and X-Men: The Last Stand director Brett Ratner will produce a animated FarmVille television show, according to a new report at Deadline. The show will be based on Zynga's popular online game and is in production in association with Six Eleven Media.

No network is attached yet to the half-hour FarmVille show. A Zynga representative declined to comment.

FarmVille launched in 2009 and is one of Facebook's biggest games. A sequel was released last fall. The game has players creating a virtual farm, filling it with items, animals, and crops as they level up.

Farmville cartoons? Are they crazy? :D lol, I must confess, I play Farmville myself and I even buy things with paysafecards every now and then just because I really enjoy the process. But I'd never come up to an idea of watching a Farmville cartoon. Amazing.

I've seen more stupid concepts and since it's animated and probably the same style as the game, it could get a decent audience following it. Watching an animated show seems more fun to me than just clicking at a screen, so the game/show might benefit each other. With the Angry Birds movie, I'm not even that surprised that other casual games get this treatment. I'm more eager to see the Angry birds movie than this, although that's not saying much and we don't have much info on either thing.

if it means he's done with movies, then ok lol.  I don't have cable so this is fine with me

In no way am I supporting this idea but honestly I'm surprised it took them this long to do it. The success of games like Farmville and Angry Birds is mind-blowing, especially when you consider the fact that there have been games with about 90% of the same content on the market for at least 10 YEARS!

Hey Brett Ratner, I have $50, and have always wanted to watch a miniseries about my ball bag! Do we have a deal?

I guess that's the only work he could get after making that horrible X-Men The Last Stand.

And people will watch it regularly too.

Also this is another pathetic example not only how stupid some of the TV/movie people really are, but a low, low, attempt at grabbing more $$.

Rush hour director making Farmville TV show is one of the last sentences I thought I would ever hear or read.

The irony of this life: Tony Scott kills himself while Brett Ratner does not. Don't look for for reason or logic here.

Didn't Nickelodeon make a farm-related cartoon that was a total failure (Barnyard)?

That's fine. It'll stop him destroying anything anyone cares about for a while.

Personally, I think a game devoid of plot, characters and action would be perfect for a medium whose strengths are mainly plot, characters and action.

This has to be the most absurd idea for a TV show I've heard of since Quark.

@GamerOuTLaWz Maybe it will be set in the South and Chris Rock will be a slave that is freed by kung fu fighting Jackie Chan. It will be like Django Unchained... but with NINJAS

How in any concievable way are they gonna make a movie out of this? Unless they do the battleship route - which had no connection to the boardgames.

xsonicchaos

@xwestsdeaznx They made movies and shows based on Tron, Battleship, Pacman, Mario. Why the heck not Farmville? No one will watch more than one episode just out of pure curiosity, but at least they prove to themselves that any crap can be turned into a movie. Now I'm off to make a slasher horror movie based on QWOP.

FAIL_TR0LL

@xwestsdeaznx

First off - it's going to be a half hour animated tv show. Secondly, it's likely to be very loosely based on it. I imagine it'll be similar to that stupid "Back at the Barnyard" tv show.
