Rumble in Hyrule
Shigeru Miyamoto lets more details about Zelda 64's Rumble Pak compatibility slip.
In an interview with Fami Mag 64, Shigeru Miyamoto gives away a few more details about Zelda 64 - the biggest Nintendo 64 cartridge game to date.
First of all, its compatibility with the Rumble Pak may also be used to point gamers in the direction of special items. It would work like this: as Link approaches a special item (that may or may not be in view), you'll get a rumble as you get closer. This will tip you off to hidden items or areas in the game. Miyamoto says that there will be a signal on the screen for those without a Rumble Pak.
Miyamoto hints that there may be two incarnations of Link in the game: Link as a kid and then as an adult. This might mean that during the game Link will age - a very cool idea indeed. Use of certain items and weapons will depend on whether Link is still young or if he is older. For instance, a boomerang in the game can only be used by a younger Link, and can be used two ways: throwing it and controlling its path or by using it to beat an enemy.
