RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 wilds on
Theme park building series goes ape, elephant, giraffe, and more with newly released safari-themed expansion.
The PC RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Wild! expansion pack arrives in stores today, exactly one year after the original game first rolled into retail with all limbs safely inside the moving car.
Whereas the first RCT3 expansion Soaked! had a water park theme, Wild! takes players on safari by letting them purchase dozens of animals, build specific habitats, set up shows, and even breed animals. However, it's not as simple as building a bunch of cages and throwing endangered animals around for all to gawk at. Each animal needs to be kept clean, well fed, healthy, and happy or else the park's in for a visit from the Animal Protection Board.
Some of the new rides and features in RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Wild! include elephant rides, baby animal exhibits, petting zoos, and new shops, staff members, and parkgoers. New gameplay features will have players choreograph animal shows, as well as track down beasts that escape by tranquilizing them with dart guns.
The game was made by Frontier Developments, which created the original RCT3 and its Soaked! expansion, as well as Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-rabbit. It's currently at work on its first next-generation game, The Outsider. RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Wild! is rated E for Everyone and retails for $29.99.
