RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 goes straight to the top

Infogrames' strategy sequel knocks The Sims: Unleashed off the top of the PC sales chart in its first week.

Infogrames' RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 enjoyed a superb first week on sale, knocking Electronic Arts' The Sims: Unleashed expansion pack off the top of the NPD PC sales chart. This week's only other new entry is a collection of five racing games from Globalstar that, in claiming the number-10 spot, forced NOLF2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way and The Sims: Hot Date out of the top 10. There was little change elsewhere in the chart this week, although Unreal Tournament 2003 slipped two places down to number four, while Hitman 2: Silent Assassin fell all the way from number five to number nine.

Best-selling PC games for the week of October 13-19, 2002:

Rank / Title / Publisher / Average Price
1 / RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 / Infogrames / $25
2 / The Sims: Unleashed / Electronic Arts / $30
3 / The Sims Deluxe / Electronic Arts / $41
4 / Unreal Tournament 2003 / Infogrames / $44
5 / Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos / Vivendi Universal / $50
