Rocksteady confident WB Montreal will make 'fantastic' Batman game

To be honest I'm getting bored of Batman. 

Silver Age prequel should be voiced by Adam West.

I wanted to know when I got Arkham City, 'cause I got it late; I got it (telling from the first achievement) one year, one month, one week, and two days ago; which means I played it four months later than I would have liked. Unfortunately, as I stated below, I thought it was disappointing. I'd like to, at some point, play it again to try and see if I can appreciate it any more. 

I've already done everything in it minus all the Riddler trophies (which was all pretty unsatisfying as well), but seeing what happens at the end on YouTube, I didn't much care to go any further in that. When I think about the game, it's very weird; I have a lack of vocabulary to describe it in detail, but I just wish I liked it more because there's a lot there that I feel like I should love it, but I just don't.

I suspected something like that. A next-gen game that will take them a few years to develop... I was curious if they had been tapped to do a different super-hero or maybe a new IP entirely conceptualized by the people of Rocksteady.

I don't have a lot of confidence in the Origins game. Not that it will be bad, but it will probably be more of the same. Which isn't necessarily bad, but things may feel stale. Predicting between 7-8 out of 10 for Origins.

The mobile versions will probably be laughable, but Batman: Arkham City Lockdown was pretty good on iOS so maybe this won't be complete waste either. 3DS and Vita versions could go either way.

Good luck to the guys at WB Games Montreal. They're gonna be heavily criticized for every decision and fault of this new game.

Does anyone know why Rocksteady is no longer making the Batman games?

I like the premise at least, so I'll be sure to keep on eye on development for this. Developer changes are always a bit of a worry but at the end of the day we have no proof they will make a terrible game so I'll wait and see.

It's a nice sentiment, but history is not on our side here.

Bioshock was fantastic.  Bioshock 2 was.. not good.  I never even finished it.  Bring Ken Levine back to the franchise, and now Bioshock Infinite is brilliant.

Same goes with the Sly series.  Sly 2 and 3 were fantastic.  The recent Sly is... not as smart, and, even worse, it's forgettable.

I hope he is right, though.

Uh-huh. So Rocksteady is giving over the reins to this stellar franchise with a nice little stamp of approval to WB Montreal. This... could end badly. I remember when Bioshock 2 was announced, and it looked like it would make your eyes bleed from the sheer awesome it was going to bring. New developer, bringing new things to the table, and boasting about how passionate they were to bring this sequel to the world. 

Yeah, look how well THAT turned out. After hearing WB Montreal is taking over, I lost every shred of interest in this game. Been a good run, Batman, but I fear the series is about to become terrible. But hey... the new creative director made Prototype, and that turned out awesome and sold like hotcakes, right?

I been this game gets delayed. Won't surprise me.

I think there's less of a chance that they'll screw up since they have a "blueprint of success" (=the two previously made games) to use as a reference for their work. Also, I'm very excited that another (hopefully good) Batman game is coming out! :D

I hope they release it for Steam on Linux but, I don't think that'll happen.

And I'm confident I still won't buy it. WB makes games as good as they do movies these days.

Yeah, I'll leave it at that.

I was feeling all positive about this, learning that Montreal have been given the Arkham engine. Possibly one of the few occasions where I'll support cut'n'paste development. Then they dropped that dreaded word: "refresh".

They have Deathstroke. Deathstroke is one of the best villains ever made.

If Rocksteady trusts them, why shouldn't I? Personally I'm more curious about the Metroidvania styled game for Vita though.

I would not doubt it. There's just something about those Montreal studios and the good games they seem to come out with.

Thing is, one of the major reasons why arkham games were amazing because rocksteady had infinite access to the abundance of source material from DC. Same goes for them, one thing they aren't lacking is help.

Well, I was disappointed when Rocksteady was removed from coming Batman game. Because it was Rocksteady who realy put this greatest comic character in history with all its role in game worlds. Without RS we'd never see any batman game with so much fun and dark storm. But being a die hard fan I'll definitely get the 'Origins'. Thumbs up RS.

it would be cool if they made some of the graphic novels  like Year One or The Dark Night Returns l DlC for ps3 or w/e console for like 20$ or something for a more linear game (and thus cheaper to develop) 

my standards for them right now is that is how to be as good as arkham asylum and not arkhum city. Because when arkham asylum came out there had not been a good batman game. Now someelse besides rocksteady is making a batman game. Standards are high. I say it has to be as good or better than asylum and if possible as good or better than arkham city. But no lower than asylum.

Glad Rocksteady is supporting this. I was a little skeptical and worried there for awhile afraid WB Montreal was going to ruin the series, but I went over to GI and it is sounding fantastic.

Oh, they have nothing to worry about. They won't ruin it.

In fact, I'm betting it will be just more of the same.

I am more interested in seeing what is next for Batman movies in the future.

I hope the Vita version doesn't suck !!:(
