Rockstar: Wii U, PC versions of GTAV 'up for consideration'

Cofounder Dan Houser doesn't rule out open-world action game for Nintendo's new console or PC platform; no Kinect or PS Move support planned.
Rockstar Games recently confirmed its much-anticipated open-world game Grand Theft Auto V will ship during spring 2013 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with no mention of other platforms. That has not changed, but Rockstar Games cofounder Dan Houser told IGN that Wii U and PC versions have not been ruled out.
"Everything else is up for consideration," Houser said. That's all I can give you. The main thing is we are not… we are a third-party publisher. We're not Nintendo, we're not Sony, we're not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there's the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market. If that's on Apple we put something on Apple. Wherever it might be. I think that's the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don't make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff."
Houser also addressed why GTAV will not support motion-control technologies from Microsoft and Sony. He said, with regards to mini-games, that using Kinect or PlayStation Move could make the overall experience feel disjointed.
"One of the things we're doing now, just to talk about mini-games, is making sure when you go into the mini-games and when you come out of them it feels very seamless," he said. "It feels like part of the whole experience. If you were suddenly go, 'This bit's Move, that bit's not, this bit's Kinect, that bit's not,' it would feel very disjointed to us. That would be detrimental to the overall experience in exchange for a bullet point on the back of the box. That's not very appealing to us."

The modding community took GTA IV for the PC and turned it into a playable game. GTA IV on its own was buggy, laggy and a broken mess.
@Spitf1re-us GTA on PC platform was made what it is today by the modding community. otherwise it's just a mediocre game.
1 Like it will come after a while, look at L.A NOIRE and GTA4, it came after 6 months to PC. its just a marketing move to study the market and how many people are going to buy it. sort of statistics to estimate the profit. but there is a slight chance they wont port it to PC if the market is too weak and this is unlikely.
Come on Rockstar, we know you want to. Please don't take away the most awesome game on pc, please. Ive been here since GTA 1.

1 Like I hope that the PC Version will release, Because Rockstar Games sold GTA games on PC since day 1 and always will sell them on PC or something major would have to happen...
But all we gotta do now is wait until it releases a PC Version otherwise the industry rates would stay low and suck in some cases

1 Like Probably already said in the 400 comments, but I think they're more concerned about a PC port being more effort than it's worth, due to all the invariable bugs that can (and most certainly will) occur on such a diverse platform.

The might as well pull the trigger, its money in the bank. Even though I personally have very little interest in the game, many people with those platforms do.

Put it out for the PC!!!!! I still play GTAIV on my PC and I don't have any issues like the rest say... the game runs smooth as glass. Iv always been a GTA fan and most likely will continue to be one for ages. I feel the game should be out for PC, PS3, And Xbox at-least... the Wii U to me just looks like its trying to be to kid friendly (don't get me wrong its just the presentation has lacked in the maturity department) But the main 3 platforms (PC Xbox PS3) are really the prime places for GTA. Iv had more fun on the PC multiplayer then the PS3 due to the connection issues and the ease at which Iv had joining and playing with friends compared to the console versions. Now I probably wont pick a fav since I own GTAIV for all consoles (Since my friends are on different consoles and want me to play with them) so why limit the experience draw more sales in by offering PC players the same respect your giving the Xbox/PS3 Community! As for the issues of GTA being offensive or rude, its just those people who think we should live in a Bubble and every little thing that could possibly be a joke/offensive should be censored ... what happened to free speech with a rating system that can easily tell the parents if they want there children playing or not... Maybe Parents need to pay attention instead of blaming the creator of a Mature or Similarly rated media. Oh and No I don't care if you think otherwise because I have the right to my opinion just like you do. In the end GTA should be on PC, PS3, Xbox what ever they like... I will always go for PC and PS3.

A Wii U would only happen if there is enough potential sales to justify the cost of porting, I'm guessing they'll look at Wii U sales numbers for a few months and then decide

Having GTA on the Wii U could go a long way toward legitimizing it as a "gamer's console." I believe one of the first looks I took at the Nintendo DS as a serious gaming device was with the arrival of GTA: Chinatown Wars. (And it may have been a GTA game that made me take the iPhone seriously as a game device too.)
But as far as motion control goes, I can't imagine how it would make the game any better. Besides, can you imagine trying to explain to passing family members why you were making those obscene motion-control gestures toward the TV? "No, honey, Daddy was just playing a game..."
