Rockstar ships Oni

Take-Two Interactive has announced that its Rockstar Games division has shipped Oni for the Sony PlayStation 2. The third-person action game melds anime-style visuals with both hand-to-hand and weapons-based combat. The game stars Konoko, a female police officer on the Tech Crimes Task Force, who must face both her enemies and her internal demons.

"We are delighted that Oni has shipped today," stated Paul Eibeler, president of Take-Two Interactive. "The simultaneous release of the versions for the PlayStation 2, PC, and Macintosh platforms from Rockstar and Gathering of Developers, coupled with the huge consumer anticipation in the marketplace, strongly enforces my belief that Take-Two is launching a huge new gaming franchise."
