Rocketmen counts down to launch

Capcom confirms its downloadable overhead shooter set for release next week on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

Capcom's first forays into the world of downloadable gaming have been oft-belated, as evidenced by missed launch windows for Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Talisman, and Commando 3, but another of the publisher's postponed offerings is finally on its way. The publisher today confirmed that Rocketmen: Axis of Evil is set for launch this coming Wednesday on Xbox Live Arcade, with the PlayStation 3 version arriving on the PlayStation Network the next day.

Developed by A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Games, Rocketmen is an arcade-style overhead shooter based on the WizKids cartoon and constructible strategy game of the same name. In keeping with the theme of the license, Rocketmen lets players customize their characters' appearance and race, which impacts attributes during gameplay.

Rocketmen will sell for 800 Microsoft points ($10) on Live Arcade, and $10 on the PlayStation Network.

    Whoever says Capcom say a good game! The latter statement is very frequently correct!

    this is pretty cool, but one thing i do wanna see more of, and instead of just straight old school ports is, remakes of those games in DLC style, such as the Bionic Commando Rearmed. No ofense to old school titles but having them "reinvtented" is hell of a lot more fun than just replaying something that you've already played years ago. Good examples are all the twist on Asteriods on PSN. All 3 games are VERY worth the buy and play, and i think that not just Capcom, but everyone should starting pumping a little more of this out!

    I think that by porting okami to the wii, capcom is testing how okami works with the wii in the public perspective. If the consumer loves okami and the way its implemented on the wii then capcom will decide to use their money to develop a new one. Think of the port as a prototype.

    I'm with you. I, initially, wasn't going to get the 360 harddrive. But now I am. There's enough cool Old School stuff, and cheap at that, to justify it. I'm not big on online play-my DSL craps out on me from time to time. But the downloadables justify XBL.

    @AngelCage

    Stop dissing Clover and the Wii. I like that really good games that didn't do well get a second chance. Sometimes, a game is better suited to a console where it will be properly exposed to potential consumers. Look at the "Dreamcast"; it had a killer line-up. Now some of those VERY FUN GAMES are coming to the Wii. So their commercial potential is greater on a popular console that is easy to market for.

    Capcom keeps coming up with cool cheap stuff. I think I'll download this one when it hits. I wish Capcom would bring more of their "Dreamcast" titles to the 360, PS3 and Wii. They're sitting on a goldmine and don't even know it.

    lamprey263 shareholders care that the company is profitable. capcom is making a killing off ports currently. so the shareholders will be happy. i mean really they dont have to put any effort into development cost but can sale 100k to 500k units. that is almost all profit for them.

    capcom really is doing it this year....Resident evil 5, monster hunter 3, devil may cry 4, bionic commando, dark void, lost planet: colonies, street fighter IV, Okami Wii, and Harvey Birdman. Then in the arcade area, they have commando 3, bionic commando rearmed, rocketman, super street fighter II turbo HD remix, and talisman. go capcom!

    A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. Games...I love that name, clever and tasteful. Not like the fart joke developers GameCock.
    Anyway I saw this on On The Spot yesterday and it looked decent, custom characters always grabs my attention, I'll at least download the trial.

    ah, clover.... all of us want onother okami.... a next gen okami or (even when i hate the wii cause all the cheese games and old ports and polished up ps2 games) a new okami exclusive for the Wii... (i said NEW, not a PS2 port)

    A prequel of okami where amaterasu was in her full glory on the Wii could be HUGE

    I love XBLA,it inspired a lot of modern yet classic games to pop up,so many choices and 5 bucks per choice(most of the time).Games like Rocketmen would be good to take a break from Halo 3,COD4,or whatever you play.

    Is Capcom trying to piss off shareholders or something, because it seems like they're working on everything but what they should be working on, like making a Lost Planet 2, Dead Rising 2, Resident Evil 5, or reviving some of the Clover Studio IP, or making Marvel vs Capcom 3, but no, they gotta make RE:UC, RE4:WE, RE0:WE, and now this? I'm this close to sending some international mail to let Capcom know how pissed off I am.
