Reservation bonuses for Insomniac's shooter detailed at GameStop, Wal-Mart, Amazon, and Best Buy; Chimera tooth necklace, multiplayer skins, grenade, and titles offered.
Battling the snarling, nefarious, and nasty Chimera in Resistance 3 isn't an endeavor that seems enjoyable, but Sony is hoping to lure gamers to the title with a range of preorder incentives announced today at four major national retailers: GameStop, Wal-Mart, Amazon, and Best Buy.
Gamers who preorder Resistance 3 at GameStop will be awarded a Chimera tooth-studded necklace, a replica of the one protagonist Joseph Capelli wears in the game. Additionally, GameStop preorders will be given a "multiplayer booster," which lets gamers start at level 5, as well as other "immediate flexibility and character customization options."
Players who reserve Resistance 3 at Wal-Mart will score a set of five custom name titles for play in the game's multiplayer component. The only title announced was Sentinel, which is a group of elite soldiers in Resistance.
Those who prefer to preorder with Amazon will earn the No. 60 Air Fuel Grenade. This grenade sticks to any surface and emits a cloud of flammable vapor, which later explodes, creating a scene of fiery death. This grenade will be available only in the single-player campaign and will be exclusive to Wal-Mart preorders.
Lastly, Best Buy is offering gamers who preorder Resistance 3 a Lt. Nathan Hale skin for use in the game's multiplayer component. Additionally, those who preorder at Best Buy will earn an exclusive multiplayer ability: taunt. This ability lets gamers perform a "victory dance" over a fallen foe.
As for other US retailers and the Canadian market, those locations will be awarded a Black Ops multiplayer skin, which lets gamers suit up as the soldiers from the "backbone of the US effort against the Chimera during the war."
Gamers looking to enter the world of Resistance 3 before its September launch date can earn access to a 30-minute single-player campaign level with the purchase of Battle: L.A. for Blu-ray. Additionally, those wishing to try their hand at the multiplayer component of Resistance 3 can purchase a copy of SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy Seals to earn access to the forthcoming multiplayer beta.
Resistance 3 is set in an alternate reality during the year 1957, after the US is overrun by a hostile alien race called the Chimera. It will follow the aforementioned Capelli, an ex-soldier, who is hiding out from the Chimera with his family and several other survivors. Besides offering 3D and PlayStation Move support, the game will boast several multiplayer modes for up to 16 people.
Damn there is an ish load to do just to get in resistance, preorder, Battle LA and SOCOM just for a piece of Resistance 3? PS is this a diss or complement, it sure don?t sound good for marketing ?Battling the snarling, nefarious, and nasty Chimera in Resistance 3 isn't an endeavor that seems enjoyable,?
I will not preorder and I will get everything you paid for free because I waited. Don't be hatin. You guys all forgot about Rag Doll Kung Fu but I didn't.
Multiplayer.Ughh.Online ughhh. Just give me a discount if I order it early. Is that too much to ask.
The issue I have with locked out content, is how will you be able to access it when your future grandkids inherit your stuff and they can't unlock it without an online store. And I'm not being sarcastic, I'd like to pass this stuff down.
Rather than focus on intricate marketing campaigns, focus on what really matters, making a good game. All this locked game content is very annoying. Dropping player count from 60 to 16 seems like the biggest downgrade between part 2 and part 3. Let's hope the game doesn't suck.
Who cares? This is all just some stupid plan to get you to preorder the game. All of these things will be made available either for free or for a small fee from the Playstation Store several months after the game releases. Cheap bastards that make these games should just include all the content when you purchase a game and stop making you pay extra to get the things they already programmed into the out of box experience.
Is the GameStop bonus a physical replica of the necklace, or an in game addition to your character? That seems like the only worth getting since you know the rest will be available as DLC later on.

@darkcomedian Yeah man it's just like fallout new vegas, some of the preorder stuff is really good but I only ever preorder from gamestop so I miss out on other stuff I may like. They should release all of it as a DLC pack.
@darkcomedian Yeah, I know. -_- This kind of thing is lame. Especially if you are a completionist. Are we supposed to buy 4 preordered copies? I can't believe that the Airfuel grenade is not included in the game...that really ticks me off as a Resistance fan. I'm having serious second thoughts now and I'm *definately* not going to preorder. No airfuel might mean the broke too much with the Resistance formula and went for a COD clone. *spits*
YAY! I love being locked out of content pending on where I pre-order games that may or may not be half decent! WOO!
@majin_lebeau People still play Resistance 2 to this day. it's alive & kickin. They wouldn't be releasing a bundle of the first & second if the Resistance series wouldn't sell. It's a good game not meant for people like you that think COD is superior to life.
Didn't Resistance lose to Gears of War like 4 or 5 years ago. Let it go sony, Resistance lost then, got forgotten after Halo 3, then swepted under the rug by COD:MW
Isn't nathan Hale supposed to be long-dead since R3 took place years after the end of R2? Why need his skin!? Oh well, MP-only...
''Those who prefer to preorder with Amazon will earn the No. 60 Air Fuel Grenade....This grenade will be available only in the single-player campaign and will be exclusive to Wal-Mart preorders. '' ^I didn't get that. Anyway, an Extra MP Costume & taunt sounds like the best pre-order bonus out of these imo. Would get the chimera necklace, but I tend to lose half my material pre-order bonuses.
