Capcom confirms latest installment in survival horror franchise for 360, PS3, PC; Kennedy, Redfield face down zombie president, more.
The writing's been on the wall for a new flagship installment in Capcom's Resident Evil franchise for some time now, and today, the publisher pulled the trigger on that announcement. Resident Evil 6 will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on November 20.
Resident Evil 6 will feature a split plotline, though bioterrorism remains the motif. In the US, Leon S. Kennedy joins the president of the United States 10 years after the events that defined Raccoon City, ostensibly to offer the truth on what actually happened there. However, in the midst of this revelation, bioterrorists attack, converting the president into a lurching undead.
On the other side of the world, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield touches down in China, which is in the midst of its own bioterrorism outbreak. Resident Evil 6 will be the first installment in the franchise to feature both Redfield and Kennedy, and Capcom noted that new characters will also be introduced in the game.
Development on Resident Evil 6 is being led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi. The developer has previously received producer credits for a number of Capcom's titles, including Resident Evil 4, Killer7, and Dragon's Dogma.
Prior to today's announcement, Capcom had posted to a countdown teaser site for the game, NoHopeLeft.com. That site now directs to a YouTube page featuring Resident Evil 6's first trailer, which can be found below.

Resident Evil was a cool concept, but it's kinda old/played out now. Seems like the same old thing over and over and over and over and over and over. Same story, reworded differently, new location, 2 new types of zombies or attributes for older zombies.
just finish this game already,there is no point in it going on. resident evil franchise is becoming a zombie itself,it just keeps resurrecting! resident evil 6,7,8,9,....100... when it will stop?
I'm still waiting 2 c a game where Barry is the main character (no Resident Evil Gaiden doesnt count). & i'd also like 2 c another Rebecca & Claire game. Also they need 2 bring back the characters from the crappy survivor games (Ark Thompsan & McGavin i believe). Too many loose ends 2 tie up. As for Resident Evil 6, I CANT WAIT!!! I just hope Capcom got it rite this time.
In the trailer I keep seeing people stabbing each other with needles. I hope this game doesn't have co-op elements again. Also, I hope RE is more "mature" this time around. I'm sick of hearing villains with cheesy punch lines.
I'm surprised they would give us two in a row with Chris as a main playable instead of giving us Claire. But who knows, it's the first trailer. Maybe they're hiding her.
It going too be the same thing from Resident Evil 5, RE4 it big Epic game, I ever seen. I wish Capcom bring Megamen Legend 3 back it's so stupid.
I wonder which direction they've taken. I only just got round to playing Dead Rising 2 and I was like "wow I can move AND shoot a gun at the same time, result!" but I'm not sure the game is better off for it. RE gameplay has felt a little stale since 5 came along, I don't think concrete boot shooting is gonna work much longer...
@DashRender619 not according to US law, FDR did so but the law was changed after him. It is not legal to do so and I seriously doubt that law is changing, ever.
OMG.These dialogs sound to me pretty like awkward ones from House of the Dead.Resident Evile really needs new writers and storytellers. Nonthenless,i am looking forward to play again in a co-op mode with my friend.
Is this 'part6' like 1, 2 and 3? i had really love 1, 2 and 3....after part 3, The main story has changed which hurt me much....is this part like the previous one? i mean part 4 ? or like part 3 Adventure, horror, puzzle?? .........
Glad to see some classic zombies and new monsters. I like the vibe I get. Atmosphere feels RE but the gameplay looks fast. I'm excited but I'll also want to see more!

@DashRender619 - because I saw how many users tried to post it as their own meme. Such an obscure reference is bound to be the creation of one (quite creative) person, it's like looking for an abstract image in a rorshach ink blot, I'll see something totally different to you, I find it hard to believe all these users thought the same thing without reading the original (I presume) comment by 'dj_pulserfan, Shame on them for getting an easy thumbs up from a copied quote from the day before, that pisses me off. This game is going to be great. RE 5 was memorable and I am sure this one will not disappoint.

I think they should do both survival horror and action resident evil. Both are great. I personally loved all the RE i've played, 2,3,4,5.
november 20th of THIS YEAR holy shat they really never announced any teaser trailers until the last minute! I hope its good cuz im getting this and ORC and maybe revelations but probably not since i hate handheld games.

Looks like there's no more CO-OP. And thank God for that! I somewhat disliked Resident Evil 5 because I used to get so annoyed seeing your partner bopping up and down at the bottom of the screen. I never could get used to it no matter how long I played.
i loved re4 and re5 and i'm totally excited bout this. sorry for all you guys who never got over the fact that re became a shooter. u should join this side. it's much more fun here ;) stop the whining, start the cheering!
With Wesker, umbrella and tricell out of the picture "the organization" Ada was working for could be the main villains. I really hope the 3rd guy is Steve or another Wesker, his melee looks a little super human and he injects himself with something at 2:28. I think its either Billy or Carlos at the end of the trailer for RE Damnation. It would be great if they tied up a few of the loose ends from the whole series.
@fg1010 - if they to put a decent story in REORC,i'll get with it- cos what i saw from the trailer it puts two factions (read teams) - regular cops and some freaks, cyborgs, that battle each other AND zombies at the same time - and if they manage to pull it off,for example, so that the gamer at the start of the game can select which team join AND each character inside selected team will have it's own story and ending - this would be awesome. but I somehow doubt it. that's it - I'm leaving to cry ....
