Capcom's survival horror sequel lurches onto Microsoft's console later this month; expected to spread to PS3 a week later.
Given their awkward gait and lumbering demeanor, zombies often rely on the element of surprise to ensnare their victims/meals, springing out from behind doors and from under beds at the last second. Despite that protocol, Capcom is giving gamers plenty of heads-up for its upcoming zombie-centric action game, Resident Evil 5.
Not only has Capcom already announced a Friday, March 13, release date for the anticipated title, but the publisher today confirmed that a demo version of the game would go live (or at least undead) on Xbox Live on January 26. The demo will be exclusive to Microsoft's platform for one week, after which it can surface on the PlayStation 3's downloadable game service.
The demo will show off the game's two-player co-op mode, allowing players to fight their way through two sections of the full game and solve a handful of puzzles along the way. In addition to online multiplayer and single-player action with a computer-controlled teammate, the demo will include split-screen multiplayer. Finally, the demo will let players select traditional Resident Evil-style controls or a new action-oriented configuration that the publisher claims was inspired by Halo 3 and Gears of War 2.
funny how everyone complains and yet you know your gonna buy it LIKE a fanboy (everyone uses that too much). So stop complaining if they wanted it to be dead space they would've made it that way. Slower movements for girls, besides, that goddamn axe-guy would catch up to you anyway.
I enjoyed the look and feel of the demo but like many others, the inability to move and shoot really threw a bucket of cold water over things. Personally, I don't know why they couldn't have used a mechanic similar to that of Dead Space - slower movement whilst aiming - that was, to me, a great balance between atmospheric and plain old 'run and gun' (which RE clearly isn't!). I do hope they address this.
Great demo! My only complaint was the reloading of the weapons. Too much reloading first of all, and then the character doesn't move when you reload- so you get smacked to sh*#$... Also the pistol headshots should blow their heads off after one or two rounds. I put toooo many head shots on zombies with a game that was scarce on ammo. Despite these complaints, I will be buying this game.
As a child many years ago I left all videogames for good until the appearance of "RE1" that cause my return to the videogame addiction in the PS1, today, thousands of games later ill be downloading RE5 !!
The controls of the RE5 Demo are H0R$E-$H*T. I am a huge fan of the RE series. I own and have beaten almost every RE game. (Except for the arcade and gameboy ones) I am very experienced with the controls of every RE game, and I thought the controls of RE4 greatly improved the series. It provided a well needed update to the series. But Capcom has apparently taken a huge step backwards with the controls of RE5. Sitting here, after playing through the demo, I almost don't want to buy the upcomming RE5 game. (I will. I know I will in the end) The controls are slow, and clunky at best. The characters feel as though theyve taken one too many OxyContin. Theyre aim and movements are sticky and unresponsive. Then there's the real-time inventory, which wouldnt be all that bad, if the characters could MOVE AND SHOOT AT THE SAME TIME. Granted, I have just finished playing Dead Space. (Beautiful game, perfect controls, and actually plays like a SURVIVAL HORROR game, unlike RE4 and RE5 which are/is "action-horror" and not "survival-horror") The reason why Dead Space is being compared to the RE5 demo is because the conrols of Dead Space are perfect compared to RE5, and near-perfect in general. Dead Space was able to incorporate the real-time inventory so effectively, simply due to their excellent controls. The play could bring up the inventory, move the character, fight off enemies at the same time, and the controls STILL felt more natural than RE5 and its characters tank-like movements. Dead Space also allowed characters to use healing items with the push of one button. And most importantly, despite these beautiful controls, Dead Space was still scary as sh*t, and left you feeling vunerable to enemies. RE5 seriously neededs to allow characters to shoot AND move like in Dead Space. They need to be able to bring up the inventory screen and still move the characters like in Dead Space. They also need to designate one button to using healing items, like in Dead Space. Basically, copy the controls of Dead Space, and every Capcom fanboy would be praising RE5's godly controls, rather than spewing moronic and pitiful exuces of how Bad-Controls make it a scarier game, or add to the atmosphere. Seriously, Capcom fanboy's. Seriously. I hope Capcom fixes the controls, and RE5 ends up being a great game, but at the moment, all this demo has done is make me want to play RE5 LESS than I did before.
definitely excited for the release of this game. I have excited about its release since they first announced that they were even making it. Plus I am a huge RE fan on top of that anyways.
Very curious why it took them soo long to get this demo to us lol. Shoulda been out alot sooner. I mean seriously the Japanese demo which is widely available on the net is in english and the same dammed thing thats being released today and its been available for weeks if not a month or two. I think the US demo should be different like the one that was at CES instead.
i think because we have to pay for xbox live that xbox360 owners should get things earlyer than psn. some of the money we spend on our subscription goes to buying exclusives for the console, i feel sorry for ps3 cos its pretty piss poor. i really wish it wasnt like this but it is, i also own a ps3 but never really use it, its such a waste of a good console. psn is about a year and a bit behind xbl, ive had both consoles since launch and even thought u have to pay for xbl its worth it. cos in the end when we are fed up with the rezy demo ps3 will be just getting into it. sorry ps3 fanboys, but do yerself a favour and get xbl cos its better in every aspect.
Halo 3? GoW 2? I don't know about this new director. When'd RE become a 360 exclusive? Last I checked Sony owned them until Nintendo budged in. & i'm sick of 360 getting 1 week - 1 month exclusives just bc Bill Gates has 45 billion to waste!
Ah, I couldn't play the demo until after it's out... I'm fairly sure that this is going to kick all kinds of ***, and that means the demo is a tease. I'll just grit my teeth and wait for the release.
Nice of Capcom to release a demo, especially with full co-op capabilities included. Only one more week, yeeeeessss....
Wait, i dont own a PS3 or anything so this doesn't concern me. But why does it arrive a week late on the on it. This was origionally exclusive to playstation so Xbox is lucky they get this game at all. Now we get it a week ahead of time. Good for me i guess. But this still doesn't seem fair to PS3.
Leon023, I think he was referring to the third paragraph were it was talking about the controls being "inspired by Halo 3 and Gears of War 2". And I have been playing Resident Evil or more so "BioHazard" since Sega Saturn.
im sorry but UrbanMessiah has no idea what he is talking about saying this game was inspired by Halo 3 And Gears of war 2 The resident evil series has been around longer and it takes and giant CRAP on gears of war and Halo.Just saying.he has a right to say what he thinks and I have the right to disagree
what the crap. why does the ps3 get the demo a week later? I got a 360 and everything but I rather play it on the ps3
"a new action-oriented configuration that the publisher claims was inspired by Halo 3 and Gears of War 2. " Pffft..I'd rather them be inspired to let me move while I shoot like those two games. -=p Not a lotta high hope for this, but I'll try it...then probably delete it and go back to Left 4 Dead. -=x
Who cares if it's a week late, we still get EVERYTHING FREE on PSN. Proud owner of a PS3 and loving it!
And as typical, for those who only have a Silver account on XBLive the demo will be released a week later at nearly the same time as the PS3 version.
HAHA i already have the demo, on a disc. My friend downloaded it for me off some website. :D ... WEEKS AGO. But i still want this cause the disc takes long to load and i dont think it lets you choose between the two types of conrtols. Plus i heard i can get suspended from live if i used it online.
on Xbox Live on January 26. The demo will be exclusive to Microsoft's platform for one week, after which it can surface on the PlayStation 3's downloadable game service its called psn, yano that game spot you lot are ignorant when it comes to ps3
@burstlimit514 play resi 4 or if you can find zero or number 1 for the game cube you should try those out
X_MGS4_Fan im no 360 fanboy i don't even like the 360 u don't no how long i've been waiting for this game and im just sick and tired of sony and their rubbish content there's only a handful of good exclusive's on ps3 they have been messing up since launch and i have been waiting for re5 4 almost 3 years now then ms gets it first twice? don''t you think that's dumb i picked the ps3 knowing it was the better console but they are lacking in content
Just like anybody with half a brain, I downloaded this demo 2 months ago when the Jap version was leaked. What a surprise that the GS comments section is over-run with angry prepubescents. Get a life. It's just a demo, and it's just 7 days.
Sounds like the demo is going to be sweeeeeet! But I wonder why I gotta wait a week after it's released for 360...
one week later no biggie... This will be a great game and did I read that correctly two player split screen??? oh yea I mean as many games that are coming out just for the PS3 I could care less about this coming out a week later... lol... that was a waste of money M$ imho
I honestly don't see what the big deal is. Yes ps3 owners have to wait a week if you really want the demo your going to get it anyway right? Besides look at it this way Capcom said SSF2 HD remix was going to come out on 360 first when in actually it came out on the ps3 first so in my eyes it evens out.
