Reggie Bush fronts NCAA Football
EA finds its cover boy at the top of the draft class with star USC running back.
Last week, Electronic Arts announced it was going with Seattle Seahawks running back and Super Bowl runner-up Shaun Alexander for the cover of its upcoming Madden NFL 07. EA is going with another second-place running back for its amateur football game, as the publisher today announced that USC Trojan and Rose Bowl runner-up Reggie Bush would grace the cover of NCAA Football 07.
Bush made a career out of game-changing plays during his career at USC. In three years with the Trojans, Bush led the team (with fellow Heisman-winner quarterback Matt Leinert) to a 37-2 record and back-to-back national championships.
In accordance with the big-time impact Bush had on the games he played, EA is putting the gameplay focus for NCAA 07 on in-game momentum. When the defense comes up with a key stop or the offense makes a big play, the momentum shifts and impacts the rest of the game. The developers are also trying to replicate the collegiate atmosphere of the games with authentic stadiums, mascots, and marching bands.
EA isn't the only organization high on Bush right now. The former Trojan and Heisman Trophy winner is projected by many to be picked first in this weekend's NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. NCAA Football 07 is being developed by Orlando, Florida-based EA Tiburon, and is set for a July release on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. Versions for the Xbox 360 and PSP are also in the works.
