High-def downloadable remake of 2003 platformer Hoodlum Havoc headed for downloadable storefronts this spring with revamped audio, 60 frames per second visuals.
Rayman Origins launched this week to critical acclaim, offering gamers a new adventure intended to revisit the Ubisoft mascot's 2D platformer roots. For those looking for a more literal examination of Rayman's past, Ubisoft today announced Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc HD for a spring release on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network.
As the name suggests, Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc HD is a high-definition rerelease of Ubisoft's 2003 3D platformer. That game was released on the Xbox, GameCube, PlayStation 2, and PC, and it featured a more combat-centric approach than the series had previously adopted, as well as unlockable minigames. For the HD rerelease, Ubisoft is updating the audio and tweaking the game to run at 60 frames per second, in addition to adding achievements/trophies and online leaderboards.
Ubisoft has not shied away from giving its signature franchises high-definition makeovers. The publisher has already released HD trilogies for its Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time series, and earlier this year, it launched another revamped game from Rayman creator Michel Ancel, Beyond Good & Evil HD.

@godzillavskong I have been waiting years for KI HD or KI3.I hope I live to see that happen.Much better than MK imo.As for Rayman 3.Two thumbs up.
Well at least it's not just Rayman 2 again, because I am sick of this company porting this game with an improved code of paint, and not giving Rayman 3 any similar treatment. Thank the lord they finally did it for Rayman 3.
I just hope it runs and looks better than the SC HD collections, not only they looked hideous but they also ran poorly.
@TheJamin Yeah, I'm pretty sure MK paved the way for games like that , but Primal Rage, and Killer Instinct were some fun fighting games. I still have my Killer Instinct Gold copy for the N64 and Primal Rage for the 32X. It would be nice if Rare did put together a HD remake of KI, or maybe a remake from the ground up, sorta like Capcom did the MVC3. Who knows, maybe one day.
Sweet, will probably get this as i never got around to playing back in the day. Also now it makes sense why Rayman 3D on the 3DS was just another remake of Rayman 2 and not Rayman 3!
I was just trying to install and play my PC version of this the other day, but it doesn't run quite right these days. Glad to see it's coming to XBLA. :)
Excellent. Best Rayman game ever, before the series took a colossal nosedive with that Raving Rabids b0ll0cks!
@godzillavskong im going to put my flamecoat on and say that killer instinct was sooo much better than any of the mortal kombats.. i'd love a remake.
Rayman was one of my first ps1 games, Rayman 2 was awesome. I would say Rayman 2 would be a better alternative to this, but its been ported so many times. I never really gave 3 a chance, so I might have to give it a go. I hope the success and positive attention Michael Ancel's been getting with Rayman recently translates to him gaining some motivation to go hard with Beyond Good & Evil 2
F*** yeah! This was always one of my favourite platformers. I've yet to play Origins, but it's good that Rayman's getting positive attention recently.
@WarioBro64 "Don't forget Kirby's Return to Dreamland" @SolidTy "I already bought it, but I haven't beaten it yet. I so should have mentioned it though, good call, haha" ___________OK Reggie Fils-Aime and Saturo Iwata you should be more focused on the launch of the WiiU rather than making up screen names and pitching Nintendo Software in a Sony and MS news article.
Yeeeah! This and Jak and Daxter coming back, our platforming heroes are making a comeback baby! @pszone did you never play a Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis game in your life?
@SolidTy Don't forget Kirby's Return to Dreamland! If you don't have it already, I highly recommend it! Haha
mmm well its shame not a rayman fan anymore because new one put me off i didnt like 2D world so i guess cool if pp love rayman and glad coming to psn and xboxlive
Great game. Nice to see a re release of a Rayman game that isn't Rayman 2 for once! Oh and by the way Ubisoft, I'm still waiting for Rayman 4. A game that was actually mentioned in the first level of Rayman 3...
It was amazing a game which i have played in 2d graphics now going to play in the HD Graphics www.worldcup2011highlights.com
awesome news!! my wife and I are loving Origins together, and she's never played the originals, so it'll be time for a little game history lesson and a lot of fun.
Yes! ; after seeing Rayman return with Origins it's what I wanted. Rayman and Rayman 2 have been ported numerous times but the third one hasn't, it was a solid platformer and deserves more recognition. I know the original is definitely on PS3, not too sure about Rayman 2 but I have the 3DS remake anyway so I'm good.
I'd rather play it on the 3DS. On the 3DS I can play Rayman, Rayman Origins (Spring 2012), Rayman 2 all in one place. Plus Rayman 2 looked awesome in 3D
