Psychonauts demo now on DLX
Tim Schafer's new platformer finally seeing light next week; demo starts players off at a summer camp for psychics.
The PC demo for Psychonauts is now available on GameSpot DLX. The 468MB download puts gamers in the mind of Raz--a young psychic at a summer camp designed to hone his supernatural skills--as he meets his new campmates and tests out his astounding abilities in the mental battlefield.
Psychonauts, the new Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PC game, is in development by Double Fine Productions, the home of Full Throttle and Grim Fandango creator Tim Schafer. Since its announcement at the 2002 Electronic Entertainment Expo, the game has seen its fair share of bumps in the development road.
Psychonauts was originally slated to be published by Microsoft as a spring 2003 release for the Xbox and PC. Nearly a year after the game failed to make the intended date, Microsoft pulled the plug on its publishing agreement, leaving the much-hyped game in publishing purgatory. In August of 2004, Majesco bailed the game out by agreeing to publish Psychonauts and later announced that the game would also ship for the PS2.
Psychonauts is rated T for Teen and will retail for $29.99 on the PC and $49.99 on the Xbox and PS2. For more information on the game, get psyched up with GameSpot's previous coverage.
