hell yeah i've been waiting for this since the first prototype. but i don't like the idea of killing mercerer; he's the good guy in the story and because he's like a god.
Ceremony sees Activision sequel, EA snowboard game's existence, Guillermo del Toro games locked down; Kratos playable in PS3 Mortal Kombat.
Tonight's VGAs wasted no time in confirming one game rumored to be revealed at the awards ceremony: SSX: Deadly Descents. During the opening montage for the show, the game's title was briefly flashed, several weeks after a nearly identical Web URL was registered.
A trailer that premiered later in the broadcast confirmed rumors that the game will be set in the most extreme mountain ranges on the planet, with a high danger element to gameplay. In fact, it will be the first game to use real-life mountain ranges as its basis, according to publisher EA Sports.
In SSX: Deadly Descents' trailer, the main character drops in from a helicopter to a flare-lit snowboard run at night, only to veer off the trail. He then pops out the wings of a flying squirrel wingsuit as he careens over the edge, apparently confirming more rumors the game will feature pastimes other than alpine sports.
Also confirmed at the event was Prototype 2, the sequel to Activision and Radical Entertainment's 2009's open-world adventure. Set for release in 2012 for unspecified platforms, the game will concern Sgt. James Heller, an ex-soldier tasked with taking down the protagonist of the original game, Alex Mercer. No platforms for the title were revealed.
Film director Guillermo del Toro was also on hand to unveil his new game, inSANE. In development at Red Faction-maker Volition studios and publisher THQ, the game will reportedly be a tie-in with his next film and is apparently an action-role-playing game with horror elements inspired by Call of Cthulhu author H.P. Lovecraft.
The evening's ceremony also featured a live action trailer for the Kinect-compatible Forza Motorsport 4, which was dated for fall 2011. Additionally, the broadcast featured the unveiling of Elder Scrolls V and Mass Effect 3, as well as the dating of Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception. Last, but in the estimation of many fighting-game fans, not least, the event revealed that God of War protagonist Kratos will be a playable character in the PlayStation 3 edition of the upcoming Mortal Kombat game.
Prototype 2? I thought the team that made #1 that was fired... Oh well, I hope this one is better balanced. Less vehicular combat and more combos for powers. Some of those powers only had two attacks. Also, there is no need to be able to use guns.
was i the only 1 completly surprised by anoucement of prototype 2? an i didnt beat the 1st one but the trailer for 2 makes me wanna finish it so i can see wat the hell is up with alexx mercer????????????????
A game with elements inspired by Call of Cthulhu? Please be good. BECAUSE IF YOU FIND ONE WAY TO SCREW UP, I'LL...
Only real surprises where Prototype 2, Insane and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. I'm looking forward to SSX Deadly Descents. I was hoping Sony would give us an update on The Last Guardian and FF XIII Versus. Guess we'll have to wait until E3.
Kratos just gave me more incentive to get Mortal Kombat. My list for 2011 is already over $600 worth of games alone..
[prototype] is one of my favorite games! what's this nonesense about taking down Mercer???? i want to play as Mercer again!!!
inaka_rob Well either we play as Alex and resist being killed by Sgt. James Heller or we play as Sgt. James Heller while hunting down Alex Hoping for the former
com'on ms were are new IP's i love forza but please i want something new, something "different", damn its like 2011 is the year of 3rd installments oh yah i have to get the 1st prototype it looked like a punch of fun
prototype was a pretty cool game. it did get a little repetitive near the end. Everything started to look the same, but still fun nonetheless. and the powers where crazy.
I really doubted they would even make a prototype 2, but this is great news. Kinda disappointed we won't be following Alex Mercer though.
Elder Scrolls 5, Resistance 3, Uncharted 3, Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age 2, Forza 4, new SSX... O_O 2011 is either gonna be huge or full of delays.
I was just talking to some friends about games last night and brought up the question "Where the hell has SSX gone?!?". This is great news! The Guillermo del Toro tie-in thingy also sounds interesting.
earlier this year i said that 2010 would be the super wallet rape year of games. I was right. but 2011 will be definitely be the super wallet MURDER year of games...
typical storyline, prototype 2, revenge, open world action, oh and forza 4 already, wonder how its going to look like
SSX On Tour was different from the other SSX titles and that turned out fine. Maybe the whole gritty thing won't really change much. Besides, if you read the game's website, they're still planning on keeping the insane tricks.
For some reason I skipped out on Prototype when it came out, I think it was due to infamous, which rocked. So, should i pick up the first prototype?
Just when I thought my "holy shiat" meter couldn't get any higher this year they go and announce [PROTOTYPE] 2. (I know its miles away, but its the thought that counts!) Two thumbs here!
