Windows version of open-world action game will debut three months after Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 iterations.
Protoype 2 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will ship on April 24, but gamers eager for the PC version will have to wait three months longer to play the shape-shifting open-world action title.
A post on the game's official Facebook page from developer Radical Entertainment revealed the news but offered little other information. The company did not provide a reason as to why the game was delayed but noted that more details will be shared with the community "soon."
Prototype 2 is the sequel to 2009's well-received open-world action adventure title from Radical Entertainment. It is set in the fictional world of New York Zero and casts players as Sgt. James Heller, an ex-soldier tasked with taking down the protagonist of the original game, Alex Mercer.

One would have to admit that Prototype 1 wasn't exactly the most polished ports. Substandard, albeit playable framerates on a system that can play a several multiplats on a smooth 60fps, along with unreasonably quiet audio. I am honestly hoping that the delay is to polish the PC version, though more likely than not, it's probably a bad attempt to stop piracy by trying to make the pirates buy the console versions, but piracy still exists on consoles.
I saw this coming. Just seriously, do not buy Activision games for PC. I guarantee when it comes out in months, it will be badly optimized and full of holes. It's what they always do to their PC titles anymore.
This is what happens when you're looking forward to a game made by a big publisher... FFFUUU Activision from now on I'm playing just indie games
@Coldfire Trilogy I mean They said that xbox 2 is Coming. So, Will this Game come to the Latest XBOX 2 ?
@s4dn3s5 I didn,t have any bugs or hyper-threading problems on my PC with the original Prototype but this bonus 55 dlc comes accross as lousy corporate scam which dampens my enthuasian for it . (I,ll buy it when it,s in the bargain bin)
They already know that it will flop on PC, the first game had a sh1tload of bugs and didn't even support hyperthreading (read: is unplayable and crashes if you try to run it with an hyperthreading cpu), so they really can't count on a solid brand name. Also, coming 2 months later? Then don't even try to sell us a 2 months old game with a 50$ price tag.
I'm tired of seeing people justifying EVERYTHING with anti-piracy theories. Maybe the game was delayed because the PC version is harder to polish. After all it has a lot of configurations to play with, PC isn't your usual playbox with a fixed hardware configuration, it could vary a lot. Please, stop with the piracy subject already, before even the world hunger and natural changes becomes consequence of piracy too.
omg how am i gonna sleep at nights... big f deal i will get it for pc anyway so you can delay it as much as you want, ill just play other games! isnt that simple.
who the hell plays games at launch anyway? Most often than not they're quite buggy, not to mention that nowadays for every good title delayed there another waiting for your money.
@Lord_Straffan If they expect pirates to buy it on a console instead of pirating it for PC, they're sadly mistaken. They'll either wait for the PC version to come out, or pirate it for the 360.
I'll be getting the XBox 360 version. Probably after the PC version is released. No big deal for me. I'm surprised they are even making a PC version. How well did the first one sell on the PC?
@dragon_rule87 PC users typically just lose interest when they pull crap like this. Then 7 months later its on sale for 5$ anyway lol.
Wow that sucks for PC games. Good thing im getting it on PS3. So i dont have to wait for another 3 months.
This could be good for the game and if anyone is waiting for this game on the PC and it will be a bit more polished for you guys as well.
nooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Well maybe that's a good thing, depending on if these other games coming out in the next few months turn out good.
well if if the PC version comes with DX11 support and better graphics all round then I guess the delay might be justified, if not then I doubt I'll get it on release.
I can provide a reason to why they delayed it for PC release. PC piracy is far worse than console piracy so they decided to wait to cash in on that market.
Meh. Consolized trash anyways. Not looking forward to it, didn't even know it was coming out. The first one sucked and I'm sure this one will be no different. Plus if a console developer has to wait 3 extra months to port it to PC then you know it's going to launch with issues. Why bother, better PC games coming out anyways.
