Portal 2 takes Game of the Year at Golden Joysticks

This list is sucks. Gran Turismo 5? could of sworn I bought that game last Winter. I'm pretty sure Black-ops isn't the best shooter of the year to whatever this is based on there are plenty of others that were better I'm sure.

Yes, the year isn't over yet we all know. The games that haven't come out yet will probably count for next year.

Its was a "public vote" which is why its not exactly the best of lists. Portal 2 was a fine game, but it didnt have much replayablity to me, the real game of the year will be skyrim in my opinion. One play through should be a good 40+ hours, and i bet it will take a couple play throughs to get every nook and cranny out of it. Im replaying oblivion and still finding things i didnt see before.

but wait, wasn't new vegas released at 2010?

there is still two full months left out of 2011, the competetion is invalid before 2012.

@Feroz06 & Reuwsaat The games coming out in the next couple of months will be entered into next years Golden Joysticks. 'The Year' doesn't mean January to December. It's like how the financial year runs from April to March. Most of the winners are certainly deserving. Well done to Valve. I do think some of the winners won simply because it was a quiet year for that genre.

Most of the games that got an award came out in 2011 or haven't come out at all. But I'm glad that Fallout:New Vegas got RPG of the year.

Erm... aren't most of the major games of 2011 currently unreleased?... Damn, and Euro's claim Americans are stupid. At least we know when years actually end.... j/k Europeans, it's really just the people running "Golden Joystick" who have no idea what a calendar is (in other words, the ones who are really And inexplicably stupid)

It really annoys me how New Vegas got RPG of the year when Skyrim could've easily gotten that if they waited just a LITTLE longer.

What a joke. Uncharted 3, BF3, Skyrim hasnt even come out yet.

Portal 2 being the Golden Joystick's GOTY is well deserved out of all the games released so far this year, but I think everyone is fair to say the best competition it would of had, hasn't been released yet. But there are still more award shows happening later this year, so we'll see who comes out on top then. Skyrim should do well.

wow, too much hate on Portal 2 i remember it had too much praise after it was released and now everyone hates? don't get me wrong, i loved the game but did I miss something?

Everyone should just relax. The games still to come out this year will just be in next years awards. Besides, as many awards as there are anymore every single game that comes out will be able to call itself the best of the year.

All of the best games of this year have not even come out yet! I'm sure Skyrim and Battlefield 3 among others would and SHOULD have received an award, had they just waited to December (like any normal person would)

I don't get it.... we just started the 4th Quarter of this year and they announced the winners? CoD best shooter? ohhh my gawd what has this world come down to.. It feels so wrong when it says "of the year" leaving out the best part of the year.

GT5, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock, Starcrat II,CoD Blops, FIFA 11, AC:BroBro, and Fallout New Vegas all came out LAST YEAR. And this year isn't over yet. Are they stupid or do they run on another time frame that I don't know about?

Portal 2 was declared the Ultimate Game of the Year, but it didn't won any other title....How is that possible???

For the end sequence alone, Portal 2 deserved the award. Great game with a great ending much like it's prequel too. Well done.

The only things there I wouldn't agree with is... 1. Black Ops - BFBC2 was by far the better game... and 2. New Vegas, it is a great game but my God, how many bugs????? Even after plenty of updates it still runs like a cripple

its taking GOTY and it is including games from last year beause it is considering games that have come out after the last Golden Joysticks. The Emmy's are held in mid september and The Academy Awards are held in Febuary, both do the same thing but with tv shows and movies. Most award ceremonies aren't held at the end of the year. With that being said, some people take GOTY too seriously, with mutiple groups and websites having their own GOTY awards, a website saying this gae is GOTY is almost like a kid saying 'this is my favorite game.'
