Go Nintendo source believes new 3DS title will be unveiled by Nintendo tomorrow; game will reportedly feature settings and Pokemon from generations 1-4.
While Nintendo has already announced that its first Nintendo Direct for 2013 will feature Pokemon news, exactly what this announcement will entail is anyone's guess.
However, an anonymous source cited by Go Nintendo believes that the publisher will use tomorrow's live-stream to announce a new Pokemon 3DS title called Pokemon Rainbow.
"The game encompasses the settings and Pokemon from generations 1-4: Red and Blue, Gold and Silver, Ruby and Sapphire, and Diamond and Pearl," the source told Go Nintendo.
"You can take my word for it that the graphics are done up very nicely. The perspective is similar to what you'd expect from Pokemon games, but the camera is much more dynamic. The graphical style is characterised by very clean, dark lines. Battles look radically different and move away from the use of pixel art."
According to the source, the new game is concurrent with Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2's storyline and features over 20 new Pokemon, two of which will reportedly be revealed tomorrow.
"One is an evolution of an older Pokemon Eevee, called Draconeon. The other is a totally new Pokemon called Verbill. It looks like a rodent, much like the Pokemon Patrat, but has a sort of pirate theme going on."
In addition, the source reported that a Wii U app will be unveiled tomorrow alongside the game.
The most recent core Pokemon games were Pokemon Black and White 2, which released in North America in October 2012 behind positive critical plaudits.
Both games cracked the NPD Group's top 10 United States sales chart during their debut month, but neither charted in November (a month filled with heavyweights like Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Halo 4).
The Nintendo Direct live stream will take place at 6am EST.
HA HA! I knew if I waited a few more pulse-pounding days I wouldn't have to grab up one of the v.2 games with twitching hands! Patience and temperance wins again!
I wonder when Game Freak will run out of ideas for naming new pokemon. Verbill sounds like some gerbil animal, kinda like the iterations with Bidoof, Pacrat (spelling is off :s), rattata.
I'd like a wii U app thats similar to the super gameboy, which lets up play pokemon games on the Wii U.
@Jigen32 that was one of my favorite things to do back in the day, I always wanted the super gameboy carttridge after using it at a friends house and playing pokemon blue on a tv :/ I remember reading that there will be 3ds/wii u connectivity somehow.. let's hope they make an adapter or something
@Jigen32 Yes! I simply don't do mobile gaming. If they started releasing past ds/3ds games on the wiiu virtual console, I would spend a large sum of money.
Interesting. The rumor is only, so far, false in what the name was going to be. Really.
The source was right about moving away from the pixel art style and using a more dynamic camera. Right about Pokémon being revealed. And if you look REALLY closely, you can see that the Pokémon X and Y logos have a small, but present, RAINBOW double helix about halfway in.
And yet again, Gamespot jumps the gun, posts the 'popular' post, and misinforms the masses. :applause:
I was hoping the story would be true but at least the new games look decent- still hoping for various regions etc though
New Generation of pokemon in full 3D!!! On the 3DS (/o.o)/
Loved the reveal trailer for X and Y. Finally a new look for the series that has peaked my interest again. Very excited!
Pokemon MMO needed since 2004.
This should have been the legendary Wow Killer, but now, the wow killer is just that, a mith.
Well I was hoping for a WiiU Pokemon game but this will do nicely if its true......looks like I'm buying a 3DS this year
I don't think there will be any new Pokemon if the new game(s) are to be part of Gen V as they won't be fully compatible with the B&W games. If anything it will only be new forms of Pokemon.
This reminds me of just before B&W 2 were announced, someone came out with similar rumours a few days before the announcement (new Pokemon etc) and none of it was true. This looks like the same sort of thing to me.
I wonder what they mean by settings and features? Most Pokemon games keep mechanics introduced in past games besides a select few of them.
The mention of the "Dragon Eevee" Is interesting, as it has already been speculated because of the newest movie's title featuring one Japanese Character's color that does not relate to any of Eevee's evolutions like the previous characters
@linthes999 Good. I always thought that trying to re-create an entire pokedex for each new game holds the devs back from adding other features, Especially when only a handful are worth owning among a list of filler squirrel/bug types.
yeah i don't belive that too xD probably 200 new Pokémon would be more belivable.
"The graphical style is characterised by very clean, dark lines."
Why would you describe the graphics of this game in such a way? Is this game going to be a coloring book, because that's the only thing I can think of that is "characterized" by its "clean, dark lines." ... I guess this will be as big a change as moving from GBA to DS was.
What's this, Pokemon Rainbow already? No wait, we still need Pokemon Purple, Orange, Brown, Grey, Pink, Violet, Mahogany, Pale, and Magenta. The color of the rainbow isn't complete without them.
If this is true, I will buy all the versions. That being said, I really wish Nintendo would take a shot at a console version of Pokemon. Give me a big free roaming world with random pokemon encounters in tall grass and a battle system like the Stadium games and I would totally buy the WiiU.
I am with you, I myself would have figured they would have done that long ago, I enjoyed the Gamecube games but if they were in the style of the portable series they would have been much better.
Everything listed in that rumor sounds pretty good to me. I just hope the new game has a more in depth story. If you look all the pokemon theories, fan art, and memes pokemon can be a pretty deep story. I mean just at everything from the idea of a war having happened before gen 1, Lavender town, and even Hypno's lullaby.
why not Pokemon Prism or somthing like that... Rainbow? sounds kinda embarrasing lol .. anyways.. if this is true i'd get a 3ds just for it.
