Pokemon Black and White 2 hitting Oct. 7

Nintendo confirms newest entries in monster-catching series arriving for DS in North America first, followed by October 12 debut in Europe.

Pokemon fans, this news is for you. Nintendo announced today that Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2 will arrive in North America on October 7, with a release following in Europe on October 12. In addition, eShop title Pokemon Dream Radar will also be available for purchase on that day, the company said.

Pokemon Black and White 2 take players back to the Unova region two years after the events of the original games. Players will have additional areas to explore, including Virbank City. Here, players can visit Pokestar Studios and create a movie starring their Pokemon.

Additionally, Cheren and Bianca from the original Pokemon Black and White games return in the new sequels, though they are changed. Bianca is now Professor Juniper's assistant, and Cheren is a gym leader and a teacher at a school in the game's starting location, Aspertia City.

Available for the 3DS, Pokemon Dream Radar has players using the 3DS camera, motion control, and augmented reality technology to catch Pokemon, which can then be transferred into Pokemon Black and White 2. A price for the downloadable software was not announced.

Pokemon Black and White 2 launched in Japan this month and tallied combined sales of over 1.5 million units, outselling second-best performer Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D by a 26:1 margin.

The original Pokemon Black and Pokemon White, which shipped during March 2011 and went on to combined sales of over 11 million, are the most recent installments in the core franchise. For more on those titles, check out GameSpot's reviews of Pokemon Black and White.

This sounds okay but, I want a pokemon from kanto to unova with all the pokemon and all the badges. I would gladly pay 50$ for that.

Too many games to fit in my pants. too little time. The fact that there's a tournament featuring all past gym leaders, champions, and (hopefully) elite four members made me want to fly to gamefreak, take off all my clothes, and parachute down into the bosses' office with a thank you card and some homemade cookies. Pikachu-flavored, of course.

It's nice to see Nintendo supporting the old 2004 DS hardware with yet another good 1st party retail game. Despite the 3DS being released!

Too bad I can't say the same kind of 1st party support is available for the 2006 Wii....and the Wii U isn't even out.

Still, happy to see nice new games coming! :P

No 3DS Black and White? Oh now I KNOW Nintendo's marketing execs lost their marbles, what a terrible business move, just awful.

I mean this decision probably pared with the fact that they know everyone that still buys pokemon games to date own a DS, but to throw away an opportunity to encourage the DS fans into going 3DS?...... Just..... Outrageous....

Superzone

@bigcrusha No, it's not outrageous.  Tons of people own a DS and tons of people will buy these games for it.  Nintendo knows this so they had these games made for the DS, which costs less than making a 3DS game.

@Superzone Nintendo already stated that the long term goal was to  have 3DS surpass it's predecessor. It's outrageous because they lost the opportunity to do so. Take the recent price cut of the 3DS and pair it with Black and White 2 would make a clever business model

Why  couldn't they just make a Gray version? I mean really who's going to buy black and white again just for the different pokemon.

@shadow_Metroid If you actually knew anything about the game, you  would know that the only thing similar about the game is that it's in the same region. And even that has been changed. Specifically, half of it is frozen, and they added 3 new cities, along with other areas. It's not the same game, fool. It's a sequel. Gray version would just be idotic. Same story, same map, why would Nintendo do that instead of this?

This is the first time I clicked on a pokemon story...I thought it was about Lionheads "Black & White" /sigh

@pedram007 lol. I can understand why you are disappointed. They need to do more with that franchise. Pokemon is awesome great to tho.

Having Red, Steven, Lance and all of the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and the newer gen gym leaders all wrapped up in one tough tournament sold me on this.

The music also has been improved ten fold.

So excited for this. The new gym leader Roxie also looks really cool.

Pokemon is too fragmented given that sd cards can hold >16 gigs now, can we have a complete game in one cartrage from kanto to unova? Until then I am no va on this game.

@killlo It's too early for a 3DS pokemon game.. give it like 3 years and there might be one.

Hopefully this one has more of the old pokemon. The remakes of Silver and Gold had almost all the pokemon up to that point.

@GhostHero333 Your in luck. You can catch pokemon such as Growlithe, Marill, Mareep, Eevee, and Riolu have all been confirmed to be on various routes in the game.

Halloween this year will be great, not only will I get this (the White version this time) but Resident Evil 6 along with it as well.

GhostHero333

@leeko_link You are not kidding I will also have Assassins Creed 3 for Xbox 360 (wish I could get it for Wii U, but that wont be coming out till after AC3 comes out.) also getting ACLiberation for PS VITA. Too bad Bioshock got delayed that would have been nice to have to, although that is already to much games to play and so little time.
