Nintendo reveals North American and European release windows for upcoming monster-catching role-playing games for the DS.
Pokemon Black Version 2 and Pokemon White Version 2 will land on North American and European shelves this fall for the DS, Nintendo has confirmed.
Over the weekend, Game Freak director Junichi Masuda revealed the new entries in the franchise, slating them to arrive this June in Japan.
In addition, Nintendo has confirmed the game's new legendary Pokemon, revealing them as black Kyurem (pictured at right) and white Kyurem.
Pokemon Black and Pokemon White, which shipped during March 2011 and went on to combine for sales of over 11 million, are the most recent installments in the core franchise. For more on those titles, check out GameSpot's reviews of Pokemon Black and White.
Can we just move on? A new dragon legendary, how exciting. Show me something that will make me want to buy this game, I could care less about it if it's just an altered story with some alternate legendary pokemon. Especially mixed with Kyurem, Kyurem was just freaky looking, and made Reshiram and Zekrom look worse now that they're fused. And please re-think the names. Some of them are just getting ridiculous. (Really, Vanillish? Chandelure? Where did all the creativity go?)
So are they actually going to bother shaking up the graphics or combat system, or is it going to be like all the other pokemon games?
So they're milking us with a sequel? .( this way they can still make a grey and a grey2. btw, ruby and sapphire coming to 3DS in 2013
There's plenty of gems left: Amethyst, Opal, Jet... Either way, this screams 'plot continuation'. I think the biggest reason is that with 1 year worth of development between them, I doubt they'd be able to create a new region - it makes a direct sequel look much more attractive. As long as it doesn't make the same mistake as FFX-2 and completely SUCK...
After all these years, why make a direct sequel? This stinks of Square-Enix and FFX-II and the others.
Fall... I'm assuming that's fall for the Northern hemisphere, so that would be about September-November, I think.
I don't think this game will have two regions sadly unova is supposed to be in a distant place away from all the other regions, johto and kanto are right next to each other. Anyways im excited that they are making a sequel to black and white the story was great and now there is even more. Maybe team plasma strikes back.
@raphaelcoelho15 you are right, the logos do look like precious stones.. I hope you're right.. SO MUCH @_@ I've been waiting for them to announce ruby/sapphire remakes so looooong..
No offense to those that haven't, but those that say Black 2 and White 2 were named so because they ran out of colors and gems are being idiots. First of all, from all the questions left after completing Black and White, this looks more like the name suggests: A Sequel. Not a just the same game with a few storyline modifications, but actually taking place after the first ones. Second: The games don't have to be named for colors/gems. Remember Pokemon Colloseum and XD?
@raphaelcoelho15 Got a nice deduction there, Hoenn would be pretty sweet as well, if it can't be Johto then I hope it will be Hoenn + Unova.
@GunBladeHero I think they will make Hoenn explorable, not Johto, Like I said on the other news, I think that the number "2" (and behind of it) on the image of the 2 Kyurems is a reference for Ruby and Sapphire (just think, not sure), because if you look closer, it's just like a precious rock colored in blue (Black 2) and th other is red (White 2). And, this year, Ruby and Sapphire will make 10 years in Japan (America and Europe only next year), so, maybe they will launch Black 2 and White 2, not only to make it like a 3rd game story (like Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum) , but to make a remake on it too. In other words, two birds with one rock. So, maybe, it will be like Gold and Silver but, instead of Johto and Kanto, it will be Unova and Hoenn. But, it's just the first impression i had about the image that the offical website showed us, i'm not sure that it's really gonna happen.
Well my prediction about the name was wrong. I was expecting Argyle and Plaid. Anyway,it'll probably be fun.I've always enjoyed a little Pokemon.
@berto64 I swear I tried to enjoy Soul Silver but I simply can't because after playing Black you do get spoiled in some things like the moving pokemon sprites and I didn't like the fact that the pokemon has to be following you around I'd rather enjoy it if they gave the option to turn that off. XD
That picture is actually pretty terrifying if you read this: http://celticmagician.deviantart.com/art/Whole-Again-212573808
@ Yomigaeru I think we'd be better off waiting for the Wii U to come out first. If I'm not mistaken, the Wii is at the end of it's lifespan. Plus, the Wii U might have better online, and definitely has better graphics.
We need a console counterpart for Black and White first, in my opinion. Battle Revolution was a pretty poor effort. All it did was put the Pokemon in 3D on the Wii. I think it's long overdue for Pokemon Stadium 3 to come out, given that there was nothing revolutionary about Battle Revolution.
When are we going to get a Pokemon game with full 3D graphics? I don't mean 3DS-type-3D, but just regular 3D. It worked really well in Battle Revolution, so why not have it in the RPG too?
To those saying they're running out of ideas: they've never done this in Pokemon before, it's new and unexpected territory. Everyone was expecting Kyurem on the cover and that it would have additions, but not like this. To those saying it's the same thing over and over again: you guys obviously haven't played any recent games. There has been vast improvements to the formula, and if it ain't broke, why fix it? Game Freak and Nintendo know exactly what they're doing (hopefully).
@Wolflink001 Now that's something we both agree on, The series needs to add something new before I spend my Money getting B/W 2 but I would like to see Gift Trade on B/W 2.
@EasyComeEasyGo Thats what I'm hoping for as well. I hope they add a ton of exclusives to these games instead of just making the same game with a exclusive legendary. That would be about as boring as I heard Platinum was. I wish they would just add a Gift Trade feature already or maybe add like 20 exclusive new Pokemon just to surprise us with.
Version 2? What happened! Didi Nintendo run out of colors and gems to name their pokémon games after?
Oh great, another Bazillion versions of the same pokemon game... Also wait for the Gray, Ligth gray and almost-black-Gray versions, Gotta buy 'em all! I just fail to see why all the hype behind this "RPG" game... just the same thing over and over again.
There are some Pokemon Types we have not seen yet like a Type: Dark/Psychic, Ice/Fire ect. So I'm just hoping Game Freak will surprise us this time around.
This game will probably be the first actual 3rd version "sequel" I will buy. I've never actually bought any of the 3rd version Pokemon games.
I think this is too just buy some time to develop the 3DS pokemon title while also making money at the same time
i think nintendo dont need any more new pokemon up to Hoenn is all the pokemon i can remember and some from sinnoh. what nintendo need to do now is make a great pokemon game with all the pokemon, all regions, 3d...ect
I don't get this Nintendo move: releasing another pkmn for the DS and not the 3DS... well I guess is another reasong for me to NOT purchase a 3DS yet... :)
I'm astounded my Nintendo's creativity. Just look at that Pokemon. It doesn't look anything like a hybrid of Zekrom and Reshiram. Getting day one! lol
Hope that Nintendo comes up with some better Pokemon designs... Black and White 1 had some strange and weird creatures.
With these games coming up so soon in Japan and especially in Europe and North America, it is apparent that these games are basically the equivalent of the basic "3rd" version that each generation of Pokemon games usually had. My guess is that the new Kyurem formes and a new story will be the main draw for these new games. On the latter, that isn't bad as Black and White easily has the best story out of all of the Pokemon games, although it's still inferior to those of almost all other Japanese rpgs. It's nice to get a sequel rather than a retcon that most 3rd versions have generally been. Gameplay I would suspect that there will be a lot more triple and rotation battles (they were woefully underused in Black and White to an extreme), including perhaps some in the gym battles. New tutor moves is inevitable because all 3rd versions have had them since Pokemon Crystal. The pokemon following you and maybe some other features from the 4th gen may return as well. A improved Battle Subway (maybe a new Battle Frontier) is also a strong possibility. All in all it seems that Gamefreak is putting more work into these "3rd" version games, but it will still seem like a money grab for many.
YEAH! thats good news. According to Nintendo the sequel will have "plenty of new surprises" when it's released later this year.
I hope they have more differences than just the two legendarys and story :/ Wouldnt mind seeing the vs seeker and Poke radar returning as well as the option to have your poke follow you like in HG/SS.
I've always been a fan of Pokemon but I'm not all that excited about this release. Judging from the 2 pictures of the legendaries and the title....its pretty obvious that Nintendo is running out of ideas for the series.
