they could tease us with a unknown release in the fall or before the holidays but thats the time were mayhem erupts i dont mind since i'll think of getting it in january if it does come out in 2011 if not then i'll wait for the 2012 release
Third-party publisher 505 Games says PS Vita version of MMA: Supremacy will hit stores this year.
Source: A press release from 505 Games touting a fall 2011 release date for MMA: Supremacy on the PlayStation Vita.
What we heard: At this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, Sony announced that the PS Vita would "successively launch in [the] global market starting [at] the end of 2011." While the electronics giant didn't specify which territories would be receiving the handheld first, that plan sounded a lot like the one used for the original PSP, which debuted in Japan in December of 2004 and found its way to North America the following March.
However, there are indications that Sony might handle the PS Vita launch differently. Last month, European retailer ShopTo posted a November 4 release date for the handheld, a date that still appears on the system's product page. Now a different Sony partner is pegging the system for a 2011 launch.
505 Games' press release to announce the portable edition of Supremacy MMA is headlined, "Supremacy MMA Takes the Fight to the Streets with PlayStation Vita This Fall." The release--which bears a California dateline--repeats the 2011 window several times to emphasize that it is the only mixed martial arts fighter hitting shelves this year, and it closes by rephrasing the Vita version's release as "Holiday 2011."
There's no mistaking 505 Games' PR. The publisher clearly states that its MMA game is hitting the Vita this year. When asked for comment, an external 505 Games representative told GameSpot, "All of the information that we currently have available is in the press release." However, European trade site MCV received its own comment from 505 Games saying the Vita date is "only speculative."
The official word: Sony had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment as of press time.
Bogus or not bogus?: A very tentative not bogus. There's enough buzz about a 2011 release for eager fans to be optimistic, but Sony might not have even finalized its release schedule yet.
Sony needs this for the holiday season... but I think they are still behind due to the earthquake. I would like a new handheld and the 3DS makes me feel lightheaded after just a few minutes (I know you can disable the 3D effect, but why buy one just to disable its highlighting feature?) Nintendo made a mistake putting all their eggs into the 3D basket. Most people I know won't buy one because of the same reason I won't. The 3DS is not selling well and I think that may be the reason. I play my DS a ton more than my PSP, but I think once the Vita starts rolling, the next gen will belong to Sony. I am not a fanboy, but I really cannot stand playing the 3DS.
@CorruptGamerGX said: @XanderZane he PSVita can wait. For the first 6-8 months it'll be playing mostly PS3 carbon copied games. I'll get it 12-18 months from now after the price drops. My PSP works just fine. So let me get this straight, you bought 3DS early despite it being port/remake haven and will skip Vita for a year and a half because it has "carbon copies" of PS3 titles? The only games that come to mind are BlazBlue Continiuum Shift II Plus (superior to the PSP/3DS version) and Lost Planet 2. I don't see you complaining about Rayman 3D, Ridge Racer 3D, SSFIV3D, DoA, OoT3D, MGS3, SF643D, Tales of the Abyss, Devil Survivior Overclocked, BlazBlue and tons more that are ports/remakes. ******************************************************************** But I can play all those games in 3D. I can also play all my DSi games on my 3DS. Unfortunately there's no way of playing my PSP games on a PSVita and I'm not buying them all again to download on a PSVita. So at this point, I'd rather wait and just play all my PSP games that I haven't completed yet and then move up to the PSVita after a price cut. By then there will be lots to play and most of the earlier games will be at 1/2 price. Win-win for me.
@CorruptGamerGX said: @XanderZane I'm not disappointed in my 3DS itself. I'm a bit disappointed that Nintendo didn't have more 1st party games for it for the first 4 months. The games I do have for it, I enjoy. I have no plans on trading or selling it to get a PSVita. Whoop de doo Zane. If you hadn't noticed I was talking about the general public and not one person's opinion. I've seen plenty of people that wanted to sell their 3DS or trade it in for Vita because Nintendo and 3rd parties are failing to deliver good games or games in general. When Nintendo announced the Ambassador program, some people had a change of heart. ****************************************************************** I actually could care less who you were talking about. I'm just giving my opinion. The fact I can play all my DSi games on the 3DS made this decision a no brainer. I've seen plenty of people who wanted to sell and trade their PSP and PSP Go in for a DSi or 3DS. What's your point? lol!! Who cares? Different strokes for different folks.
According to Yahoo, the new PS Vita WILL NOT be released this coming holiday season as originally expected. But when it does come out sometime in early 2012, I have a good feeling it'll kick 3DS butt. The 3DS is nothing more than a DS with 3D capabilites so it's basically not an entirely new handheld in my opinion.
@DARKNESSxEAGLE pokemon IS the extent of my use for my DS I have spent probably 400+ hours on pokemon pearl and pokemon black combined but those games are really the only ones I ever play on my DS. My PSP however I frequently play ratchet and clank, GTA, Modnation and between those and other personal favorites I easily have 2000 hours+. I personally don't see a use for a DS besides Pokemon and mario kart and possibly metroid prime hunters. As for a hate comment yeah it probably was but i was directed more at monson21502 than at nintendo. Also you mentioned the 20 free games nintendo was giving away I have owned every nintedo console up to this point (unfortunately including a wii). As such I own most of the more recnt of the those games. as for the rest of those 20 games the games range from 10-25 years old! @ least Sony gave away games for current Gen consoles! Now if nintendo was giving away even ds lite games like scribblenauts (i think i spelled that wrong) or (metroid prime hunters one of my favorites) I would be much happier with nintendo, but this isn't the case. Even if they gave away 10 much more recent games as opposed to the 20 ancient ones. Nintendo screwed up and they aren't willing to make amends for their mistake. After shelling out $250 for a wii and only finding mario kart and brawl worth playing on it I will not be buying nintendo ever again (This includes the 3DS and the Wii U), unless some BIG changes happen.
@Jonwh18 I wasn't directly quoting you, but 'illogical garbage' sounds like another way of saying 'hate comments' to me. But I can agree that the Wii is a sub console, however I've spent only 200 hours on my psp which I've had since it was released, and 150 of them belong to Disgaea 2. As for my DS.... well I spent 300 hours on Pokemon Pearl and so far have spent 150 on Pokemon Platinum. Those are two of my 50 ds games. To put it in perspective: I've had the 3ds since a month after launch with only one 3ds game (SSFIV) and my total playtime amounts to 100 hours. That's half the PSP playtime in a much smaller interval of time.
@DARKNESSxEAGLE i said nothing about hate comments if you'll look below i just said he was obviously had something against sony making him biased. as for sony blowing nintendo out of the water it will. I have both a PSP and a DS Lite, I also have a Wii a Xbox 360 and a PS3. I can honestly say after playing all the systems that nintendo's are sub par compared to the rest of the group. My Wii and DS currently sit on the shelf gathering dust. I still play my psp xbox 360 and ps3 frequently however. If the 3DS was worth owning I would have one....but it isn't, and I don't. As for the games that sony gave away to apologize for their problems with PSN....At least they were games for current GEN systems not games for systems they don't even make anymore. as for the good games like metroid fusion i have them. nintendo's giving away games that you haven't been able to buy for years. thats a sorry attempt at reconciliation if I've ever seen one.
y'know, if Sony really wanted to release Vita so badly, it'd already released it. The handheld itself is ready...but we need games first! it's like having a recipe to bake a cake, but not having the ingredients... and by the way, releasing first in Japan isn't that bad because, first, the post-release games is mostly trash and don't utilizes all features and aspects the hardware can offer...and second, japanese games are the best! (y)
lol I still can't stand the name "Vita". Reminds me of some lame 1930's tonic drink that literally has no curative properties. "Try Vita, it'll put a pep in your step!".
@Johnwh18 So you start by complaining about how all that monson21502 was doing was spewing illogical hate comments towards sony (which is mostly true, but I think there was more hate towards nintendo than that of sony), and then you say "Nintendo has nothing on Sony." That is most certainly a hate comment and it is most certainly illogical; Nintendo is the root of Sony's move to the video game industry, as I have said so many times before, the Wii is the only argument that can be rightfully used against Nintendo. Complaints against the DS are pointless as there are more at least half decent games on DS than PSP despite the difference in power (although a good few of them go unheard of to the undedicated gamer that only listens to what the TV tells him, i.e. all those pathetic Nintendo adverts). @XanderZane Why is it that people think we bought the 3ds and just sat it on a shelf to rot? We bought the 3ds in order to play the games on it that we wished to play. Buying it when we did also offered security in case something like ths price drop (which anyone who saw how poor the sales were going would be ale to predict it happening so early, especially as some people are going to begin their plans for christmas) occurred and there were fewer 3DS' for purchase. There's also the payment for the service of getting it early, thus being able to play it for longer. Then there's the 20 free games, the 9 or 10 that they've mentioned are all good games and things like Metroid Fusion, which I imagine many not to have played, are completely welcome. Look at what playstation did, 2 (that's a tenth of what nintendo is doing) free downloadable games from a selection of games most gamers should already have had. Don't act like sony is perfect, because they are not.
@monson21502 u obviously have something against sony because you are just spewing out illogical garbage that makes no sense at all. The one thing you said that was right is nintendo has moved its focus from selling to committed gamers to the old and young... BUT GUESS WHAT THIS IS A WEBSITE FOR COMMITTED GAMERS. NINTENDO HAS ABANDONED US! GETS WITH THE FREAKING PROGRAM! MAKING MONEY DOESN"T MAKE THERE PRODUCTS GOOD SO GTFO. I personally think that vita will blow the 3DS out of the water as soon as some good FPS's like COD come out for PSVITA it will win the handheld war easy. and for those of you who say they've done FPS's on the DS, they won't even compare to the VITA, Nintendo has nothing on SONY
@SIDEFX1 If they make the Vita as powerful or relatively close to the power of the ps3, then what would persuade people to use and pay for ps3s when they could have a portable one? You're probably going to mention the TV but there's nothing stopping them from adding TV support for the Vita. And didn't they cut down on the amount of RAM in order to lower the price, or was that just a rumor? @monson21502 The costs are most likely due to compacting the hardware as much as possible. Making somewhere between Xbox and Xbox 360 (or I guess somewhere between the Wii and PS3) at the most in terms of it's power.
It will have the same problem as the 3DS...the problem isn't the 3DS or its lineup....cos from my point of view, there's nothing on the Vita lineup that excites me that much. The real problem here is mobile gaming and £2 games compared to 3DS/Vita games @ £30. Sony and Nintendo need to step up the game in this area if these consoles are to succeed. The prices need to come down and the quality needs to go up. Zelda OOT 3D is the perfect example of that quality...a game of 30+ hours in the palm of your hand...on the train, in a plane, wherever. I'd pay £30 for any game that feels that good to me. The 3DS was the only console I own that I did not buy at launch. I won't be buying the Vita until I see a game or two that I really want on it.
Why does every news article involving consoles/handhelds involve a bunch of people having hateful arguments?
@kkthesonicfan Yeh what said actually makes so much sense, realistically its being bought day one whenever that is
you guys buying ps vita this fall better buy the 3g one.. because its gonna be a collectors item.. prolly not many will be made.. because lets face it even sony knows 3g is about worthless and no 1 is gonna spend a extra 50 bucks for it....
The 3DS is getting B1tc*e* slapped right now so i have a really good feeling for the VITA..... this thing is gonna be amazing =P
The DS was huge. That did not correlate to huge sales for the 3DS though. The PSP was not all that great of a seller here in the states so it will be interesting to see how the Vita does.
sony needs to get this thing out ASAP. especially with the 3DS struggling so far. i'm expecting a fall release. wish it was sooner!
@XanderZane So let me get this straight, you bought 3DS early despite it being port/remake haven and will skip Vita for a year and a half because it has "carbon copies" of PS3 titles? The only games that come to mind are BlazBlue Continiuum Shift II Plus (superior to the PSP/3DS version) and Lost Planet 2. I don't see you complaining about Rayman 3D, Ridge Racer 3D, SSFIV3D, DoA:D, OoT3D, MGS3, SF643D, Tales of the Abyss, Devil Survivior Overclocked, BlazBlue and tons more that are ports/remakes.
@CorruptGamerGX @mariokart64fan Would it kill you to type proper English for once? GBA titles are fine and dandy but they don't stand up to PS1 titles and possible PS2 titles in the future. Nintendo is offering 20 free games to sheep that blindly bought one at launch hoping for the best but mostly ended up disappointed. That, or they're offering compensation for ripping them off or trying to prevent them from selling 3DS for Vita. ************************************************************* I'm not disappointed in my 3DS itself. I'm a bit disappointed that Nintendo didn't have more 1st party games for it for the first 4 months. The games I do have for it, I enjoy. I have no plans on trading or selling it to get a PSVita. I also plan on downloading ALL 20 of those FREE games. The PSVita can wait. For the first 6-8 months it'll be playing mostly PS3 carbon copied games. I'll get it 12-18 months from now after the price drops. My PSP works just fine.
@moe3000 if i wana play uncharted i will get it on ps3 thank you very much. ************************************************************** That's what I said, which is why I'm not rushing out and getting it. I don't need to play PS3 copied games on a PSVita. i would like to see some original JRPG, action/adventure, fighting and racing games for it. With the 3DS dropping to $169, I can wait a year for the PSVita to drop to $199. I have a ton of regular PSP games still to play and none of them will play on the PSVita.
@monson21502 1. You seriously, seriously believed you were the only one who thought Nintendo would do a price drop soon? Any moron looking at the sales would "call that". 2. If you think there are good games on the Kinect, you are the fanboy. 3. You can't make that prediction. In fact, rumors are heavy that the next Xbox is showing up next E3. Until ten years have passed, I really don't get how you can have the arrogance to pretend you know the facts, because you don't. 4. Number 1 was obvious, number 2 is so mindblowingly retarded I fail to see anything logical about it, and number 3 is crystal ball theory.
@SIDEFX1.. nah man 5-16 is where money is at in the handheld market. and wii tapped into the 35-100 crowd alot of those folks wont be buying a wii u but it still made them a ton of money... and new gamers come in every year.. thats why nintendo has been doing so many upgrades last 2 gens.. big brother gets a ds lite.. gives little brother the ds ect ect next thing you know the whole family has a ds... thats where the money is at....
@DARKNESSxEAGLE, i never said nintendo is all about kiddy games.. they have some good core ones.. but what gets them the systems sold is the kiddy games like pokemon and mario and hananna montana and zelda...
@DARKNESSxEAGLE, you really dont know why people are saying that vita should be as powerfull as ps3????? let me give you a hint... 250$-300$ thats the same price as ps1, ps2 cost at launch!! its the same price the ps3 is now... u think people are gonna spend that kind of cash just to have duel anilog sticks and a wacky back touch control option??? they also want power.... you shoulda went with ur gut and not posted that comment i think:P
@theshonen8899, 1. every system has a price drop this soon??? yes i called it as soon as it launched... heard way too many parents in stores say wow 250 buck!!! 2.move didnt force anything besides ps fanboys to play something they hated on since the wiis launch... ms took the gamble on something differant and it has gave the the motion control edge forcing nintendo out.. move was still born from the start... 3. what am i smoking??? wouldnt you like to know:P 360 will outlast ps3 in stores... games on blue ray cost more to make then on 360 so 3rd parties will drop ps3 support soon as ps4 launches. 4.how do u know im wrong???? only 1 i have a chance to be wrong on is is the 360 lasting 10 years instead of ps3... the other stuff i said is already true..:P
@kkthesonifan. when you warn someone its aways best to tell them why you are waring them:P i didnt really bash.... and dont ever, ever! say about not typing correctly. after typing that big wall of text;P
@monson21502 If ur trying to warn someone don't bash on what ur trying to warn them say"I'm gonna wait till a price drop or a remodel I think it would be best if everybody does that."@foxfacer 2d2 Ur so dumb really anybody who says SONY HACKED and uses that against anybody is GAY In the end we 4 free games,a month of PS Plus, and a month to play Uncharted 3. Nobody lost money Sony but gained it all back because of Infamous 2 and LBP2 buys so STFU.@monson21502 Again don't say Uncharted is a rehash, Mario Kart 7 is a rehash,Zelda 3d is a rehash cuz it came out on N64 then Gamecube and then Wii and now 3ds thats a serious rehash figuring how it's the same game over and over including Master Quest and we don't have termendous amount of info on Uncharted GA we've only seen like two levels of it.And seriously 17-35 is where it's at cuz those gamers have money to blow off and will do anything to get a game like Uncharted, but still u and Rottenwood go urselves in this by not typing correctly.
@DARKNESSxEAGLE Why do you think it would it be bad move for Sony to make a handheld as powerful or close to its older home console. ?
(I don't usually post three times in a row, but there are lots of 'odd' comments down this page) For those of you saying the Vita should be AT LEAST as powerful as the PS3: The PS3 is more powerful than the 360, however people like me prefer the games on the 360. So you are all saying that a handheld the size of the PSP, at the very least, has to be more powerful than a fully fledged home console that still has plenty of potential and that the Vita must be at least as powerful as a home console, by the same company, that isn't going to be upgraded for several years. When you think about it even a little bit, that would be a bad move for Sony as well as highly unlikely.
But yeah, the Vita looks good, I just doubt some of the claims and don't like the way that they went for the PSP shape again.
@monson21502 Yeah.... games like Muramasa: The Demon Blade (wii), Bangai-o Spirits (DS) and the range of Resident Evil games released on the Wii and DS are too childish for me. I'd much rather use my manly Kinect and Playstation Move which are both entirely original.
@monson21502 I must be delirious because I was just playing Sin and Punishment a game published by Nintendo. Didnt seem like a simple kiddy game to me.
@monson21502 No it is not. The big N is in lead with the handheld market because of the Original Gameboy and most people had grown to trust it's name. The retired oldies who played wii could understand a simple game like Wii Sports as characters had no limbs and nothing was hard or confusing for them. besides that what else is innovative for them to keep buying more games. It then become a dust collector, or paper weight or gift etc etc. 17 - 35 is where the money is at. There is no game on a Wii system that would make me sit on my as$ all night and sink hours of game play in to it. usually only the best games on the Nintendo machine come from Nintendo themselves. I have a Wii.. never use it. I have DS and never play it. both of these are only good use to me for the girls when they come over who don't play video games and for peeps who know nothing of video games.
"i called the 3ds price drop..." Everyone called a price drop. In fact, a price drop in inevitable for every system in existence. "i called kinect forcing nintendo into next gen... " Kinect didn't force Nintendo into next gen. This comment is as retarded as saying PS3 Move forced Nintendo into next gen. "i called the 360 lasting ten years instead of ps3...." The Xbox 360 came out in 2005. What the hell are you smoking? "poeple called me a retard and a troll.. but i turned out to be right.... so why not this time?????" Because you're wrong.
@SIDEFX1.. nintendo not growing up is what has made them rule the handheld market..... and when they choose to skip over the grown ups with wii **ages 17-35 they found a gold mine with the aunts, moms, uncles and dads and grandparent crowd.... dont let nintendos simple kiddy games fool ya they are some very smart people.... they just got cocky with the 3ds.. but now sony is in trouble imo unless the react fast....
@Rottenwood, i know.. its like they dont even care.... im about ready to give up on my fellow gamespot friends and stop trying to warn them... i even starting to think half the people on here are accounts from people bored at sony HQ....
@theshonen8899, the zelda 3ds game is a 3dremake not a rehash.... uncharted vita is a rehash of a ps3 game.... sorry dude... sont dont make aaa ip exclusive to anything with out a big userbase. even on their consoles.... look how long it took ps3 to get good games... again any1 who buys the ps vita is a fool... im not hating on sony im telling you guys the truth and just trying to save you all some money. dont dare pay anything near 250 for this.... wait till sony cancels the 3g and puts the wifi only on sale for 199 about 6 months after vita`s launch.... not seeing this coming is like not seeing the sun in the morning... ps. is there anyway to save this comment???? so i can let people know i tried to warn them? i called the 3ds price drop... i called kinect forcing nintendo into next gen... i called the 360 lasting ten years instead of ps3.... poeple called me a retard and a troll.. but i turned out to be right.... so why not this time?????
Nothing will save the 3DS in the future. but it will still be around and supported by Nintendo mostly. Take the 3D away and what have you got. a updated NDS. Vita will stick around for a long time if it can look and play like a portable PS3. I used to play Nintendo and owned most of there machines but i stoped when they release the Gamecube and since then converted to Sony PS2, PS3 and Xbox. and my game experience has been much better with more variety. I am not Nintendo hater but but i am over Nintendo games and there restriction to mature market. i can't just keep playing Nintendo games Mario cart,Super Mario and some rare cool 3rd party games. even if they are all great and fun. Nintendo should grow up in my thinking. I just find games on Nintendo machines are boring and kiddy for me to play as i enjoy to play more like BF2, Bioshock and much more.
It is not logical to buy a Nintendo 3DS on the base of it's 3D gimmick for a start. 4D is what lots of people dream and hope 3D to be. The Vita should be at least as powerful as it's older brother the PS3. But it is so boring to play games that come on on ps1 or ps2. updated graphics means nothing. It is just not the same to play God of war on PS3 then play it on a portable as it feels, looks and plays outdated and retro.,
i prolly wont bother gettin 1 till ps4 launch, i got enuf games to play on consoles to last me ages coming up and im more excited about what interlinking "remote play" features the vita will have with the ps4. i have a strong feeling it will destroy the wiiU concept. everything the WiiU tablet has, the vita has also, plus more, and lets face it, psp1 had interling with ps3, how could they not link the next gen, with tech so much better than first round
