Pirates of the Caribbean action RPG canceled

So let me get this straight... a RPG based on one of Disney's most profitable franchises gets cancelled, but the game based on Chicken Little got the green light...

This is a severe disappointment

is there any chance that disney or the other company will pick the game back up and finish it so that we all can enjoy like the first actually good pirate game since like the first xbox?

Dang. I did a random search on some games I noted at E3 last year I wanted to keep an eye on and found this today. There hasn't been a good high-seas pirate game in years, such as the Sea Dogs, Sid' Meier's Pirates, etc. I was really hopeful for this.

They should have cancelled the TRON game instead of this. Disney, what are you thinking? :(

Let me get this straight...the one game that would have gotten Disney out of that aweful funk of having bad video games is canceled, and Tron is being continued? If history tells us anything, it's that games based off movies, for the most part, NEVER do well. I guarantee that this game would have sold millions. Instead they continue with Tron. Diseny, for once in my life I am severly disappointed in your decision.

Just so as you all know there ARE open world pirate games. Pirates of the Carribean for the original Xbox was open world. Good luck finding it though. And you'll need an original xbox to play it as the 360 isn't compatible with it. Disney also released a Pirates of the Carribean MMO a couple years ago. It's campy as all heck but it IS an open world pirate game.

this game probably would've been better than the tron thing, i think so at least.

Stupid, stupid, STUPID. Unlike all other Disney games this one actually looked like it was going to be able to stand on its own instead of being some mediocre games, released too soon to profit from the movie released in the same period. Which is what this Tron game will undoubebly be (and the previous pirate game was).

I was looking forward to this one. Oh well. Perhaps someday will get an open world pirate RPG.

Why do video game companies refuse to make pirate games? Everybody wants a free roam style pirates game, and Sid Meiers is the only one to attempt it. GOD I hate Disney. They buy everything and then ruin it

I wonder how and at what point people decide that a game sucks so badly they have to terminate it, wasting millions in sunk cost and relocate/fire dozens of people over it...

Another company might be continuing development for this game instead of Propaganda Games. Please not May 2011. This sucks.

Out of the 2 games they were developing they carried on making the stupid movie tie-in and not Armada of the Damned? Screw Disney.

This was my highlight of 2011... It looked amazing, I loved Sid meire's Pirates, this looked even better! Naval Combat and running around with a giant anchor! I loved the idea of being a legandary or dreaded pirate (the dreaded pirate looks awesome) What idiots are running Disney's gaming department?!

oh well, one bugger game less...

Oh well I'm still going to watch the Tron movie and POTC 4 Movie.
