Pink 3DS hits in time for Valentine's Day

Nintendo bringing previously bundle-exclusive Pearl Pink portable to North American retailers beginning February 10.

Nintendo is celebrating Valentine's Day, not with flowers or chocolates, but by offering gamers a new, pink 3DS.

Nintendo today announced that on February 10 it will begin selling a stand-alone Pearl Pink 3DS, which was previously available only through a Nintendogs + Cats bundle.

The pink 3DS will retail for the standard $170 and will be available at retailers nationwide.

Nintendo recently announced that global sales of the 3DS have reached 15 million units. This figure is lower than what Nintendo had projected, but despite this, Nintendo believes sales of the 3DS prove there is still a market for dedicated gaming devices.

@jamyskis I don't know why all Japanese game characters have to have the most flamboyant hairstyles in the world, only separable to their female counterparts by the lack of breasts, but according to your avatar you like that. And you know what? Thats OK with me. I don't get it, but I'm not going to call you shallow for it because you like what you like. If someone likes their 3DS to be pink, hell go for it. If I bought a 3DS I would like a dark blue, am I shallow?

I personally don't know any girls that are so shallow that their 3DS absolutely has to be pink. But then, if I did know any, I'd probably deny that I ever knew them.

Seriously though, although my girlfriend likes all things pink and wanted a 3DS, she doesn't want a pink 3DS - she'd much rather have a white 3DS and have good games to go with it.

I think Nintendo is trying to hit two stones in one rock: boost sales of 3DS catering to woman .. and combat Vita launching few days later ..

All they gotta do is add orange, green, and other colors they missed.

Good, that should add a lot to the system, and create a great incentive for people who don't own it to buy it.
    Oh wait...

Hot pink would be cool, but bubblegum pink is kind of bleh.

I don't mind pink but how about a more classy tone and less tacky?

They should just release a dozen color varieties at launch for future systems. That would be great.

Blech, I see they're continuing the unflattering Coral Pink DS tradition rather than the classier hue Metallic Rose.

I mean, it's cute and all...but I still the red one is far more smexier. If I was getting a 3ds for Valentine's that's my color of choice. .

I really wish they would have released that Forest Green 3DS that they showed off at E3 2010. That thing was so money.

Umm...it's nice to have options, but the pink 3DS+Nintendogs bundle is also $170 at both ToysRUs and Gamestop. With the bundle you get the same exact system with a game for the same price.

Why would you want this, unless you really hate Nintendogs (sell it to get some money back) or really hate ToysRUs/Gamestop? Even if you don't have those stores locally you could buy it online.

This reminds me of the pink DSLite. Valentine's exclusive 3DS pink color, that's pretty sweet.
