Phantasy Star Online worldwide user base surpasses 200,000

Over 200,000 worldwide users are now enjoying Sega's online RPG.

Sega has announced that the total worldwide user base for its Dreamcast game Phantasy Star Online is now 235,000 users. There are 130,000 users in Japan, 70,000 in North America, and 35,000 in Europe. Current records show that, at any given time, up to 26,000 users worldwide are connected to the game's network.

The Dreamcast network RPG was developed by Sonic Team, and it was recently awarded the CESA Game of the Year award. An enhanced version, Phantasy Star Online Version 2, is scheduled for a release on May 17 for 4,800 yen (about US$39) in Japan.
