Atlus teams up with BlazBlue developer for brawler; Persona 5 also in the works with series director, lead character designer, and composer returning.
Ever since the Japanese release of the PSP Persona 2 port and the anime series iteration of Persona 4, things on the Atlus franchise's side have been quiet. That ended today, as Japanese gaming site Famitsu carried multiple major announcements in regard to the Shin Megami Tensei spin-off series.
As revealed by a recent teaser site, Atlus will be remaking Persona 4 for the upcoming PlayStation Vita console. The portable iteration of the hit 2008 title will feature a new character named Mary, more voice work during in-game dialogue scenes, and new animated cutscenes. The game will also include a new wireless support feature where players can call upon other users when their party members are close to death. The new port will be out next spring in Japan.
Atlus also revealed it will be teaming up with Arc System Works (creator of the BlazBlue series) to develop a 2D fighter based on the Persona universe. The game will be called Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena and will launch in spring 2012 for the arcades, with a PS3 and Xbox 360 release due for summer 2012. The game will feature characters from Persona 3 and 4.
Finally, Atlus confirmed that Persona 5 is in the works, with series director Katsura Hashino resuming his role once again. Shigenori Soejima and Shoji Meguro will return to their roles of lead character designer and music composer, respectively.
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 was released in 2008 for the PlayStation 2. The game was praised for its engaging combat, great ensemble of characters, and a deep storyline with multiple endings.
Dual audio for persona 5 or else i will be forced to import a japanese version which i cant read. but id rather have that japanese ver than have the US ver with no dual audio my ears might bleed Come on Atlus its about time you add some Dual audio
Whatever happened to Elizabeth and the MC in P3? I wish I can finally get some closure in P5... Any fans here know what I'm talking about?
Nice, missed this one due to acquiring a PS3 so this is a pleasant surprise. Let's just hope Persona 4: The Golden will be at lease as good as the PS2 version!
It should include more previous games characters as a bonus, like Maya Amano, Tatsuya Sudou, A P3 full cast crossover, not only Aigis.
This reminds me I need to actually finish Persona 4. I am at the final boss but couldn't bring myself to end it and then got busy and started a new game. By far of the greatest stories in video game history. Characters, dialogue everything.
yay, finally a persona 5!!! better come to the ps3 soon - dont waste too much time on ports nonstop - i been longing for the 5th for so long! but for those who havent played persona 4 then pick up a vita version - personally its one of my favorite games so id want it on a big tv screen
Sony's got my money now! I'm getting a Vita for either Christmas or my birthday next year, for definite.
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH! I am definitely getting a PS Vita now. And the Persona 5 too if it's released for the PS3!
Freakin' AWESOME!!! I am SOOO getting a Vita now. If Monster Hunter also comes to the Vita (and rumor has it, it will), this is going to be the BEST CHRISTMAS EVER!!
I was already sold on the Vita, but this just made it all the sweeter @stressthesky: considering that Catherine went multiplat, I wouldnt be surprised if P5 did the same
I would like to know which console Persona 5 is coming to. Although I know Atlus has been laying a lot of love on Sony, I can guess, but it would be nice to know.
@kaiserzero61 Have a little more faith mate... with kickass titles like uncharted, mgs 4 nd others u never know... the ps vita might actually kick ass!!!!
Ok, I like Persona but I absolutely hate remakes. Just port the thing to PS3 and put more people in the Persona 5 proyect.
I can't do anything but laugh at all these people getting excited. ''Vita is teh greatest!!!!111'' No. Just no. The Vita will flop just like the 3DS. Deal with it. Time's are a changing. Expect smartphones to gobble up the rest of the dedicated handheld gaming market. Only the fanboys will buy Sony's next trainwreck.
well, I'm sold. It will be like playing Jojo's Bizarre Adventure all over again (just like I figured. Love that game). I gotta agree with ThaElementz, must get back into Persona 4.
persona figthing game and ps vita reveald one day!im gonig to die!two news in one time is madness atlus!my heart is going to stop!
in the pic you see them fighting with a sword and knives, though you spend a lot of time in the game using wrenches, golf bats, boots, fans and chairs as weapons. they need to get their armory right
This just made my week. Not only is Persona 5 announced (presumably for the PS3), but a spin-off fighting game? Featuring all my favorite characters from my most beloved JRPG series?! Thank you for knowing what your fans want, ATLUS.
PSP Vita version with extras? Cool cool. A Persona 4 fighting game? oh hell yes. Are atlus reading my wet dreams or something. Persona 5 in the works? Best news whole week.
Vita is now beyond sold for me.In fact i think its "beyond the bounds" at this point. Kudos to anyone who gets why there. But ya im very excited about this.Atlus has been just vonderful about bringing games over here to enjoy.
Now this is kind of gaming news I lOVE to hear. Finally...I know the new Persona title will be good. The series does not disappoint!
GREAT! Finally some good news about JRPGs, persona 5 underway huh? Hope its on ps3, i don't care that much about vita.
Woo p4p, but with the wireless support thing do they mean other in game characters or other people who are playing the game will come in and take over because that could really screw over your strategy.
This amazing but... How bout some persona for ps3? The console is in desperate need a for a quality JRPG! only portable user seem to get all the goodies these days :P
