People Can Fly vets form new studio

Independent studio The Astronauts headed up by Adrian Chmielarz, Andrzej Poznanski, and Michal Kosieradzki; first game arriving in 2013 powered by Unreal Engine 3.

Painkiller and Bulletstorm studio People Can Fly founders Adrian Chmielarz, Andrzej Poznanski, and Michal Kosieradzki left the company over the summer, and now their next effort has been revealed. The trio have founded The Astronauts, a new Warsaw, Poland-based independent studio.

The company's first project will release in 2013 for unspecified platforms, and according to Chmielarz, the studio is "on a quest to map uncharted waters." The unannounced game will run on Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 and is part of a multi-title licensing agreement.

The company's newly launched website does not list any open positions nor any further details on the studio's first game.

Well, welcome to the fray, guys, I've got orders for you so listen up: Get in there and make a game that isn't trash! Succeed and you will be breaking a decade-long trend! Fail and don't bother coming back!

Meanwhile, People can fly are making the next GeoW Title, and Cliffy B has left Epic.

Painkiller was cool, but the studio (PCF) didn't do much after that :

2004 ?Painkiller (PC)

2004 ?Painkiller: Battle Out of Hell (PC)

2006 ?Painkiller: Hell Wars (Xbox)

2007 ?Gears of War (porting on PC)

2008 ?Gears of War 2 (Xbox 360) (additional development)

2011 ?Duty Calls: The Calm Before the Storm (promo game for PC)

2011 ?Bulletstorm (PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3)

2013 ?Gears of War: Judgment (Xbox 360)

@SolidTy You have a valid point, but who knows. Maybe they will develop something that pushes the envelope. I would at least like to see them try :]
