As a class-based, multiplayer-focused take on Tolkien's classic tomes, Pandemic Studios' The Lord of the Rings: Conquest relies heavily on a thriving community of regular players. To foster just that, the developer is looking to keep the Conquest experience fresh with the release today of new downloadable content in the form of the Heroes & Maps Pack.
As the name implies, the pack is headlined by the inclusion of three new hero characters: the cranially cauliflowered Gothmog, the doomed Boromir, and the rarely combative Elven Maiden Arwen. The heroes can then be pitted against one another on two new maps for the game's one-on-one Hero Arena mode (previously added by way of a free downloadable content pack). The characters can also be used in the game's standard multiplayer modes, which will be bolstered by the addition of two new maps, one set during the Battle of the Last Alliance and another in the forests of Amon Hen.
The Heroes & Maps Pack arrives on the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store today, where it will sell for $9.99 (800 Microsoft points). For more on Pandemic's latest, check out GameSpot's review of The Lord of the Rings: Conquest.
