Insomniac Games rebrands four-player shooter, schedules Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 project to arrive early next year.
Insomniac Games' four-player shooter Overstrike has been renamed Fuse, the developer announced today. The company also revealed a launch window for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game, slating it to arrive during March 2013.
Fuse is the first multiplatform game from Insomniac Games, creators of the Sony-exclusive Ratchet & Clank and Resistance franchises. The game was announced during Electronic Arts' 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo and will be published by that company.
The story for Fuse goes that the United States government has spent many years experimenting with a secret alien substance called fuse, which when combined with earthly materials, is used to create devastating weaponry. A rogue paramilitary organization elects to steal the fuse technology, and a task force (the player) is called in to track it down.
@OtherFabbros so they change the name, and all of a sudden, it immediately changes the ENTIRE game? please, enlighten me more with your knowledge /sarcasm
"The game is set in the near future and follows a team of four misfit agents collectively known as Overstrike 9, who infiltrate enemy strongholds using fringe-tech gadgets and lethal teamwork. The members of Overstrike 9 are Dalton Brooks, a reformed and sarcastic mercenary, equipped with an energy shield, Naya Deveraux, a mischievous, lifelong thief, equipped with a cloak device, Isabelle Sinclair, a gifted, but rebellious young scientist, equipped with a mass bubble gun, and Jacob Kimble, a decorated detective with a bit of a temper, equipped with an electric crossbow. The plot follows these agents as they attempt to stop a shadowy organization, which threatens to wipe out humankind. Due to each agent?s unique talents and a tendency to completely ignore protocol, Overstrike 9 is the only option left."

So what does that make? ...about 700 games all aiming for a release next March? Every game announcement for a release date is next March, every delay pushed to March. I feel like March is going to be a repeat of last November. Remember how Skyrim crushed and destroyed all competition that was stupid enough to release immediately following?
When is Bioshock Infinite releasing? The end of what month? *checks calendar*...
From the little that I've seen, the game looks quite generic now (compared to the semi-amusing, slightly cartoonish trailer seen at E3). And, to top it off, they got an overly generic name. One can only wonder if EA had anything to do with how this game looks as of now.
I'd love to be completely wrong about this game, as I am an Insomniac fan. Frankly, we need some gameplay footage.
Four player military shooter, rogue paramilitary organization, secret government experiments. *yawn*
@CyhortI82 Till you realize it's from Insomniac Games, from which you can further extrapolate that Fuse will include clever enemy types, witty humor, wacky enemies, and general fun to be had by all. The story synopsis made sound boring, but trust me: this game will be good.

it's so nice to hear news about this game after a year. This game caught my eye during E3 '11 and so happy to hear an actual release date for this game
The game looks great, but March is a pretty crowded month. Hopefully, this isn't being sent out to die.
