Online players of the basketball game can compete to win $10,000 and trip to New York.
To hype the release of its new 6255i phone, Nokia is sponsoring an online NBA 2K5 tournament. The online NBA 2K5 tournament is open to anyone who owns a copy of the game for the PlayStation 2 or Xbox and has an Internet connection. The best players from the initial rounds will meet up online for a playoff series that will run from May 28 to June 11. The top four competitors will be flown to New York for the final rounds of the competition.
The ultimate winner will take home the $10,000 grand prize and will also appear live on ESPN2's Cold Pizza and NBA TV. The second-place winner will take home $5,000, while the third- and fourth-place winners will receive $1,500 each. Interested gamers can sign up at the tournament's official Web site from now until May 21.
