No Rock Band 4 in 2011, 100 million songs downloaded

@strayrocket4 Ya except that would be impossible and audiosurf is flawed so I'd rather pay a small fee with well made tracks then sketchy tracks at best

@RitsukoEX i do... i'd never buy songs i already have just song i could play them in a game. they should let us add our own songs and then have the game generate the button sequences like how Audiosurf generates the track based on the song. rock band and guitar hero were just money making schemes designed to rob you.

wow now with this major price drop i might actually buy RB3, havent bought a music playin game since RB:Beatles

Now it's just a question of time when the Rock Band Music Store will have all the good rock music out there, as we know they have a great taste for music, and now hearing that they will continue with the DLC support, i predict alot of great music.

I bought RB3 in December and I only now able to scratch the surface of all the content. I recently bought a You Rock Guitar so that I can play the Pro Guitar modes. It is AWESOME! You Rock Guitar is, BY FAR, the best current way to play pro mode. The Squier has been a disappointment and the Mustang is a bunch of stupid buttons, not a real guitar. Also the You Rock Guitar has TONS of functionality outside of RB3. I've been plugging it into my laptop and using as a synthesizer. RB3 has been my most played game since release. Ways to get most out of the experience: 1. Sing the vocals and learn the vocal harmonies 2. Play the Pro drums mode 3. Hookup one of your keyboards with the MIDI Adapter 4. Get the Squier or YouRock guitar to learn the guitar and bass parts. This game now has infinite replay value, especially with all of the Pro DLC coming out.

They'll be selling copies for a good long time and the dlc? Well the article says it all, they pretty much freed up peoples' wallets to buy more songs with that price drop.

why would they even want to release another RB game, they should end it too like GH.

I am happy there won't be a new Rock Band and I am happy they will continue downloadable songs. This is a smart move. The market got over-saturated by Guitar Hero, DJ Hero, Rock Band Green Day, Lego Rock Band... all of which were fine games. But there was just too much, too soon. We need a break and we need to miss the series. There haven't been major advances since Rock Band 2, really. The addition of keyboarding is nice but it isn't a huge leap. These games are fantastic and I love them dearly so. But it's nice to see them focusing on songs for download. I'd prefer it to stay this way for another year or so and then see Rock Band 4. Hell, I could even wait to the next generation to see Rock Band 4. This is a smart move.

I don't care about the 100 million but I am happy to hear there will be no RB this year. Yeah!

Really they could of just released a RB4 that had very little new in it to cash in on the fact that there is no GH this year. Even with the music game genre not as big as it was a couple years back it would of still sold well. Good for them that they are taking their time with it and still focusing on the dlc.

I liked RB2 more than RB3. RB3 soundtrack sucked, and I did not like the changes they made. And why orange notes on Medium? Come on! But still so much better than GH. Warriors of Rock had the worst soundtrack EVER. GH5 was mostly lame. Smash Hits should move that first S to the beginning of the second word. Both Lego Rockband and Band Hero were COMPLETELY unnecessary. Beatles RB is good, but Greenday RB... maybe if it was released 10 years from now and Green Day had at least one more album almost as good as Dookie. And where the heck is my Our Lady Peace Rockband?

With no Guitar Hero to compete with, there's no need to release RB4. Just keep pumping out quality DLC, and they can stay afloat for a while.

@missonrs So true! I don't remember seeing ANY advertising for Rock Band 3 whatsoever. Too soon for Rock Band 4, maybe next year..

I bought 1000 of those 100 million songs. =P Coming from a guy who loves and plays RB3 several times a week, I am glad there is no RB4 in the works, RB3 is like RB perfection and a perfect example of why GH is no moe.

Probably would be better to wait an extra year or two before releasing rock band 4! @orionthescorpio don't forget to market the game! Rock band 3 probably sold poorly partly because of lack of marketing

Very smart move by Harmonix. As long as they keep releasing the DLC to keep people interested, they will do well. Then in 2012 release RB4 with a huge song base already established and they should see profit!

No more Rock Band. Give us Dance Central 2.

i got to say, please bring back the pro face-offs. i would like to play some of the newer content that is out and go head-to-head instead of having to see myself #165 on the leaderboards or in the 15% of the leaderboards. next sequel, throw it back in please. :D

I know its not easy Harmonix. And I know the current situation might make it eventually impossible...... But will we ever......see......Floyd or Zepplin on RB???? :)

@robx360 Considering Rock Band is Harmonix's biggest investment, you can be sure there'll be lots more DLC to come. Which is great, cos I bought the pro guitar, and it's the best thing I ever bought :D

Good thinking on Harmonix's part not dropping a new game every year like a certain company we all know....How did that work out for them again?

Activision: Lets see how many games we can shove in gamers faces! Harmonix: Why don't we limit our selves, create maybe two more sequels, a few band oriented games, and maybe a lego theme for kids, and just release DLC instead of creating needless sequels!

Harmonix is not only the best rhythm game developer, but they are also one of the best developers out there. I love you, Harmonix.

With Rocksmith coming out soon and a dying genre, it is smart to wait until 2012, but they really need to pull some new tricks out of the bag that do not involve spending small fortunes on peripherals.

No RB4 in 2011 doesnt surprise me. I personaly find it hard to imagine what they can do to innovate the genre even more, but im confident they will. In the meantime I am more then happy with DLC and will continue to add more to the over 1000 songs ive bought so far

I think that is a good idea. The genre needs a break. A year or two off is a good thing. But I like that Harmonix is at least going to keep pushing out new content for Rock Band.

@KillerWabbit23 Probably not. They're probably thinking of new ways on how to milk CoD (& kill the FPS genre in the process) & offer even more expensive DLC.

I have downloaded around 100 songs. I always liked rock band a bit better. When part 3 dropped the $20 i snatched it up. Hopefully DLC will continue to come out on a regular basis.

Looks like MTV and Harmonix might have learned from Activision's mistake of milking GH dry. While personally I have grown tired of the rhythmic game genre, I'm glad to see there is still a quality franchise at the forefront.

This is good it's not really Rock Bands fault that the music games were over done this is smart
