No official word on Final Fantasy X HD's progress - Square Enix

Versus XIII and series producer Shinji Hashimoto stated "no comment" on upcoming HD rerelease for the PS Vita and PS3.
Final Fantasy producer Shinji Hashimoto and Square Enix said that there hasn't been any news on the upcoming Final Fantasy X high-definition rerelease slated for the PS Vita and PS3.
When asked by GameSpot during a Southeast Asian Final Fantasy media tour, Hashimoto and Square Enix simply stated "no comment" on its part. The company has yet to officially announce anything else on the project at this point for the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary event on the weekend of September 1.
In related news, Shinji Hashimoto and Square Enix also commented that Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still progressing fine. For more information on Final Fantasy X, check out GameSpot's review.

1 Like What's the point of FFXHD again? It would be great if they included the FFX International version, with all of the dark aeons.
Have you not seen what Final Fantasy X can look like in HD resolution? Check out some emulator videos on youtube with them simply forcing the game to be rendered in 1080p with antialiasing on. It's epic. With a true fluid remaster for PS3, would be amazing.

maybe better to release final fantasy versus 13.. so that we can forget about this.. and by the time were finish with ff versus 13. ffxHD will be out =)
why other companys release HD right away? like god of war 1 & 2. metalgear and devil may cry
2 Like They keep making these boring Final Fantasy 13s. What they need to do is stick to their word and make Final Fantasy 10 for the PS3 and Vita. How hard can ti be? Final Fantasy 10 was one of the reasons I brought the damn ps vita.

2 Like Is this really that big a deal? All X needs to make it even more awesome is the ability to skip cutscenes. That laughing scene is excruciating to sit through every single time.
I didn't mind it. The pace of the story is what got me involved in the characters. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing a cutscene skip feature added like later games had.
Just get an emulator, almost as good as a HD remake. FF12 looks amazing on my PC (this is not bragging about my PC, rather, it's about how well the emulator actually work)
@banana23man Seconded, I play using a laptop and FFXII looks sooo much better than through the PS2... Although If I ever buy a Vita I will want FFX running on it : )
They can go to hell for all I care. Every FF after X has been shit. If I wan't to play this game again I'll just do so in my PS2.

1 Like I knew this would happen. Typical Square. This is why I just don't buy their games anymore. They can't be trusted. As SOON as they announced this HD upgrade I made a bet with everyone in the room that it would never see the light of day on the Vita. They were just announcing it before they even began developing it because Sony asked them to in order to make the Vita look more appealing. And now that the Vita isn't selling as well as they wanted it to, they are backing out of the deal.
Essentially, they lied to you in the hopes you would buy the Vita. They never had any intention on following through with it unless the Vita was a huge smash hit. Typical Enix, lie lie lie lie and overcharge.

1 Like No it's not actually. Actually it's the exact same situation just with a different game and different system. The only thing anyone wants them to do with FF7 is update the graphics while putting it on a current system. If that doesn't sound like them remaking a HD version of FFX then I don't know what does.

5 Like @Blackwand @kiramasaki FFX isn't a HD remake it's just an update like the MGS HD packs or God of War. So they are using something they have already built with voice overs and all of that and putting a HD coat on it. With FFVII they would have to completely start from scratch and redesign the whole game to work with the current gens graphics it's not as simple as just working with an already created product like FFX.
@darthsolo3 12 definately needs it more than X, XII tried to do more than the PS2 could handle resulting in piss poor resolution... Looks great through Emulators, but X got more sales.
2 Like @darthsolo3 I really liked FFXII, i tell you, i loved the characters (the judges looked AMAZING, Gabrant after all), the battle system, quest, GRAPHS!!!!!!!! and cut scenes, everything... But for some reason i can't remember the ending ._. on the other hand, X is shoved on my mind...
Didn't even know about this, but you already can play it "HD" so to say on an emulator, if it's just like Shadow of the Colossus, the only thing you need to do is adding the filters and improving the resolution, though it requires a monster hardware to do such, you could still get most of it on a mid-end PC I guess.
Not gonna hold my breath waiting on news regarding Versus 13 when there's plenty of rpgs in the works and still many good ones worth playing. Square sure seems to be taking it's sweet time mantioning anything on the game.
My only guess is maybe they'll release it during the next generation of consoles. (could be wrong though)

Well, i got an idea:
Why not, instead of focusing on pointless remakes, you focus on a game that people have been waiting for over a decade and you have left them hanging with little to no information?
That seems like a good idea to me.
1 Like @cfstar I saw on another website they said Versus is coming along rather impressively. In other words they are actually shocked about how well the game is turning out. Which just makes me think that they finally realized that the things we've been asking for up through the PS2 and PS3 are actually possible and they feel dumb now....
