Nintendo reveals Super Mario Galaxy 2 has moved 6.36 million; Donkey Kong Country Returns reaches nearly 5 million, Super Mario All-Stars hits 2.2 million.
Following its earnings report yesterday, Nintendo has released supplementary information that reveals sales of some of its biggest titles. Among the data are sales figures for Nintendogs + Cats, which is now officially the first platinum game for the 3DS with 1.71 million units sold. Of those, 460,000 were bought in Japan and 1.25 million were picked up in other territories. The game's three versions--French Bulldog, Golden Retriever, and Toy Poodle--are counted as a single title by Nintendo.
The information sheet also revealed sales for a number of new titles on Nintendo's other platforms. During Nintendo's last fiscal year, which ran from April 2010 to March 2011, the top DS games were Pokemon Black and Pokemon White. The twin titles, counted as a single game, sold a combined 11.51 million units globally.
Other notable DS best-sellers released during Nintendo's 2011 fiscal year included Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem (1.78 million units), Professor Layton and the Unwound Future (1.97 million units), and Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies (1.05 million units). The latter two games' figures reflect only international sales as the pair are published by Level-5 and Square Enix (respectively) in Japan.
On the Wii side, the top newcomer was Super Mario Galaxy 2 with 6.36 million units sold. Wii Party invited 5.77 million to its fiesta, while Donkey Kong Country Returns sold nearly 4.98 million. Meanwhile, the compilation Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition sold 2.24 million units, beating out Kirby's Epic Yarn (1.59 million units) and Mario Sports Mix (1.54 million units).

What they should have done is released Black/White as 3DS titles. That would have skyrocketed sales for the 3DS. I mean, didn't the games and the system release the same month (As far as I know)? C'mon Nintendo. I would have imagined you smarter than that.
I cannot describe my hatred and anger for Nintendogs and the fact people aren't smart enough to get an actual pet. Seriously, you wanna know how I describe Nintendogs players? FOREVER ALONE. Mhm.
@ iAmAbel: I was thinking the same thing as you about Smash Bros. Brawl. Maybe it didn't sell in the millions within those 3 months that's why it didn't make the list. Just a hunch. :)
at first this surprised me, but of the games on the 3DS, this is probably the one with the broadest appeal.
@Phil-teh-Pirate - Nintendogs comes with all of the breeds on every copy anyway, albeit some unlockables only. Buying a breed-specific title only affects two things; the picture you have on the front of your particular copy, and which dogs are available to you on your very first play through. Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if there were indeed at least a few die-hard fans daft enough to buy one of every copy...
Considering theres roughly 17 3DS games out right now and 3 of them are Nintendogs + Cats games. I'm not surprised... Infact it wouldn't surprise me if die hard Nintendogs fans bought one of each game to have all the breeds available...
Pokemon is awesome but DAMN do I think they need to fix the trades. Asking for stuff like a level 9 reshiram (legendary that only appears at level 50) by 75% of traders? C'mon. Just fix it so you can't ask for impossible stuff and then we won't get this crap.

This is going to come down to how well Nintendo can encourage hardware sales with the upcoming Mario title. Best of luck Nintendo. :)
"Donkey Kong Country Returns reaches nearly 5 million" Retro NEEDS to make a sequel :D Of course Pokemon Black/White is on Top, allot of Old Pokemon fans were happy that B/W went back to its roots and turned out to be the REAL sequel to Red and Blue, ALLOT of Mature People got into pokemon again because of this.
Pokemon..addictive as always my only problem is that the you can't have 6vs 6 battles with autolevel at lv100/50 now (online) hope they fix it in the next games for 3DS

That's a whole lot of Pokemon, next Pokemon game that comes out, Nintendo should make it a battle royal where your tasked to catch all the Pokemon players, until there is only one left lol. That would last a while.
linkari nintendogs plus cats is not a weak launch title , it was one of the best sellers on the original ds , so it only makes sense this one sells good to plus it has nintendo on it , virtually any game that isnt a new ip usually sells well , as for pilotwings and steel diver im suprised they havent hit 1 million yet but im sure they will

I don't think I would buy Nintendogs, just because I already have a real dog that I can actually pet. Still, it looks good.
I got Nintendogs and really like it. It's my first and it's Golden Retriever. I'm getting better and I've won some competitions. Can't wait for Zelda.

anyways, glad to see some great Wii games get the respect in sales that they deserve. imo, Galaxy 2, DKCR, and Epic Yarn were awesome games, and I'm glad people bought them. and how the heck is mario kart still selling? at this rate, we'll never get a new one, cuz this one just doesnt stop selling!
man , they make it look so easy to sell millions of games, these people gotta swim in gold, i mean, we are talking about MILLIONS , multiply most of these games by 40$ and yup , most of them are first party , i can imagine the grin in the face of their CEO's .

Nintendogs 3DS is cute. I want to give it a try. I am not ashamed in saying that. That's better than playing the same dozens of FPS games.
