Nintendo UK apologizes for low Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate stock

European president Satoru Shibata says "high demand" for latest role-playing game the reason for limited retail availability; new shipment "hopefully" arriving next week.

Nintendo UK has apologized for a shortage of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimater stock in the region. In a series of tweets (via Eurogamer), Nintendo of Europe president Satoru Shibata explained that "high demand" for the Wii U and 3DS role-playing game has made the title tough to find.

"I'd like to apologize for the current stock shortage due to high demand of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate at retail," Shibata said.

He added that more copies of the Wii U version will "hopefully" hit stores next week, with additional 3DS shipments expected in mid-April.

Shibata pointed out that both versions of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate are available through the eShop.

"Both versions of #MH3U are also available on Nintendo eShop. Again, I sincerely apologize for causing any inconvenience," he said.

No such stock shortage has been reported in North America.

hopefully now Capcom will see how MH is popular outside Japan plus add how big 360/PS3 is outside of Japan and things will click and the world can see a MH for PS3/360 now

In this day and age; these kind of excuses are unacceptable. They know how popular these games are, make enough damn copies. Nintendo really have been shakey over the past few months - Get a grip!

lol why is this news? the UK doesn't even care for Wii U, and the rest of the world doesn't care for the UK.

@Person4 Really thats odd since there is a backorder list of a lot of people who want that game.... are you sure you arent talking about yourself in stead of a entire nation ?

@silvergol Sony and Microsoft do it all the time. Not exactly a shock to anyone.

@SirApathetic005 @silvergol Really ? I think Nintendo is the better in re-re-re-releases man.

Super mario bros released on
NES - original
SNES - super mario all stars
GBA - the NES classic collection
Wii - wii-store
3DS - same as wii-store YET you have to pay again
Wii-U - SOON and guess what YOU HAVE TO PAY AGAIN.
Maybe i missed something but at least 6 times released the EXACT same game

but there is one even WERSE ATARI
Pac man can be played on
Atari 2600 - NES - SNES - PS 1 - PS 2 - PS 3 (digital AND retail)- x-box - x-box 360 (digital AND retail) - GBC - GBA - DS - 3DS - PSP and maybe even more
So that is at least 15 different ways you can buy pac-man

I hate how GameSpot decided to report this, but they didn't report on the amazing sales the Wii U has made in the UK and France. They'll report a shortage, but they won't report how Nintendo is benefitting greatly in terms of sales. This website is anti-Nintendo, and I hate how I can't find one gaming website that just reports news and doesn't blatantly favor one over the others.

@SirApathetic005

What amazing sales?  The supposed 125% increase with no hard numbers?  I own a Wii U but I am getting fed up with the lack of news and games from Nintendo.  And no, I don't play Legos or Monster Hunter and I don't consider them "killer" apps.  I should have been owning Pikmin and Rayman Legends but delay delay delay.  Nintendo needs to get it together.

@ewjiml @SirApathetic005 Hmm. Smells distinctly like a publicity stunt, to me - "gosh, we're so sorry that you can't buy this game as easily as you'd like - it's just selling **so many** copies, you see? Like, it's an amazing success, yeah? You wouldn't *believe* how successful...!!!".

I say bollocks. I'm the only person I know who's bought a Wii U, and there's a distinct lack of action in the Wii U section of my local Game store. It's not selling well at all. I wish it were, but it isn't.

It needs a true killer app - a 'must-have' title that's U-exclusive - and it needs it right now.

Give it some thought.

Gave it great amount of thought, thank you.

@SirApathetic005 @Tripwolf From everything I've read, and that's not exclusive to this website, Wii U sales are dismal when compared to not only the Wii, but all of the current generation consoles. Nintendo simply launched a console without any games that are system sellers.

I bet that would happen a lot faster if there was a release for the PS3(EU/US)

It's just like Fire Emblem in the U.S. I had to order it off Amazon and wait for them to get a copy in. I haven't even tried to look for MH yet because I am in the middle of Fire Emblem and probably won't put it down for a while.

Every Great titles for Nintendo console (such as Mario and Zelda)  comes in limited numbers at a time to stores here in Australia and they always sell at full price even years after release unlike other console games. Probably that's their strategy.

i got the game.. and it is like every effin person with a 3DS in my university got it too... I get new streetpasses quiet often..... when my buddy and I co-op up in the halls, they'd be random ppl like "dudeeee is that monster hunter 3?! I wish had my 3DS with me so i could help you out"

so yeah, i guess the game is selling a lot.

I jumped on Fire Emblem right away as I suspected there might be an initial shortage and sure enough it was a little hard to find for a week or so after release day. When MHU came out I pre-ordered copies for me and my boys, don't know whether there's plenty out there or not, but I can certainly see the advantage if you know for sure you want it to go ahead and pre-order from someone. MHU is a very different kind of game, easy to see how US gamers might not dig it but you really gotta stick with it and it grows on you. Nay sayers can crawl back under their rocks.

What shortages? They must have sent a very small about if they sold out that quickly. I still haven't played my Monster Hunter game for my Wii.

i used to say preordering any software was pointless because you can always find the game if you look hard enough.

Guess not!

@Bl4KD37H Wow that is bad. Especially for the one game that actually looks interesting on the Wii U.

Now if they could throw in some western games once in a decade things might look up..hm.

@bksonic123 @Bl4KD37H The 3DS version is identical to the Wii U version, but MH3U is a port of MH Tri (I Believe), with extras from the Japanese versions of it and 3G the Wii game.

@Bl4KD37H Pretty sure that it is a port of the 3DS version (at least that's what I heard; haven't seen the 3DS version).
