Nintendo calls $100 Wii U game prices 'fictitious'

Nintendo kinda killed my fanboyism with lack of steallar games for hardcore fans on the wii. Hopefully the Wii U brings me back to nintendo. So far they are doing bad with just giving me one reason to own the system..... Pikmin 3. Come on Nintendo gotta try harder then a single game to get me excited to wait in line again on Day one.

Oooh, $100, how scary. Try living in Scandinavia - games ROUTINELY cost $90 on launch-day :POf course, we also get free healthcare and college tuition, so it all balances out somwhere.

Yeah, I'm doubting the prices are going to rise that much. Over here in England, pretty much every game sells for about £40 near release, but wii games are notably cheaper. The problems come when a retailer thinks it has a hit; CoDs are selling for about £45-£50 after 6 months of release.

If they got their prices from Australian stores then that might not be so bad. Games here aren't shy of launching at $80 through $110. 3DS games generally $50-60 being reasonable, with $80 being the 'big title' game store price.

I am very worried now for the future of gaming. Not because of this alleged $100 price, but because it seems that very few gamers can actually read. The article clearly states that the prices have not been announced. I work at a GameStop, I know for a fact that the prices aren't actually that high. They're not even estimates. They're random numbers that were filled in. The pre-order sheet lists the Wii U games as "Sega Saturn" games, only it's crossed out with pink marker and Wii U is written under it. It's pretty obvious that no one knows anything about the Wii U yet, as it wasn't even announced. Use those semi-functional goo puddles that you call brains and try not to embarrass yourselves.

the music stores were the worst tho wherehouse sold the snes sf2 original version for 80 even and had lines down the block  and phantasy star 4 was 90 (thats when sega decided cartridges were done for ) just cd's were cheap cuase the games were small

Who would believe Nintendo would sell games at $100 when they have lots of trouble selling them at $50. Nintendo, since they've been in business has always had reasonable prices on games. 

Perhaps the new controllers could cost $100 at your local retailer with fat margins for Nintendo and the retailer. Game companies make bank on peripherals and Nintendo is the king of gimmick peripherals. hmm..

If this were true we'd be able to hear Nintendo's stock value drop all the way from our computers.

The real sad bit here is that 2 major game selling sites listed rather outrageous prices without fact checking, with one perhaps blindly copying the other's listings, just like what happens with news these days.

Well Amazon can't start their prices lower than the actual pices because of their price promise thing, so they'll always start the prices higher... Only they have nothing to base it on yet, so start it stupidly high and there's no problems.
