Ninja Blade dices retailers April 7

Microsoft and From Software's Xbox 360-exclusive action game goes gold; demo dated for March 9.

Stealth is a key attribute of the ninja, but Microsoft is making a lot of noise about its upcoming Xbox 360-exclusive action game, Ninja Blade. The publisher today announced that the From Software-developed game has gone gold and will arrive in North America on April 7.

Microsoft also detailed its prerelease promotional plans for the game. Starting March 9, a free demo of Ninja Blade will be available on the Xbox Live Marketplace. If that sells players on the game, they can then preorder the title from participating retailers and get a free Ninja Blade premium theme as a reward. The theme--which will be sold on Xbox Live a week after being made available to preorder customers--will include five avatar backgrounds and four wallpapers.

Described by the publisher as a "modern ninja epic," Ninja Blade follows hero Ken Ogawa and a shinobi support team as they try to save humanity from an epidemic. Rather than spend their time in labcoats looking for vaccines, Ken and company use their talents to clean up the streets of Tokyo, which are choked with victims of the disease who have been turned into monsters.

For more on the title, check out GameSpot's previous Ninja Blade coverage.

I don't get it; what was so bad about this game? Like many others, I also played the demo and loved it. I wish there was a somewhat better warning for the QTEs (and a failure cutscene), but it's an overall great experience. The one thing I truly miss from From Software's previous works is the fact that you can't smack someone and have them fly some 100-odd feet. Oh well...

Excellent demo. This game is fast paced and action packed from what the demo has shown. I guess there are always going to be comparisons for any ninja based game, but I say stop comparing it to Ninja Gaiden and just enjoy the game, which so far is looking fantastic.

Demo is sick. Loved it... freefalling from the Plane... cutting up foes...using different swords.... yeah... it feels good. Wasnt overpowering or unforgiving. You have to know the button layouts pristinely, or you'll be repeating action over again. Yes, this isnt your brother's Ninja Gaiden...but it stands on it's own two feet and kicks AZz. 2 thumbs up... Definitely getting the game. I'll trade in MSG4. (ha)

Played the demo and i enjoyed it, good fast combat and big monsters to fight. User lamprey263 - You can't cut off the enemies limbs like you do in NG2, so what they can't copy features from other games. It's not right to do Plagiarism (copying another authors work)

I really liked Ninja Gaiden II, I especially liked all the gory limb dismemberment and executions that made the overwhelming enemy battles feel oh-so-good when you were finally able to walk away from each fight going "yeah, that's right, I did all that", but Ninja Blade doesn't even hold a candle to NJ2 except in the most superficial ways, like "oh, it's a Ninja, fighting demons on skyscrapers", but that's really all it has going for it in comparison, NG2 was actually a really good game, but from the gameplay videos I've seen, Ninja Blade doesn't look so hot

Huzzah another Ninja Gaiden, pass, until I can get more info on it, perhaps a demo.

i don't think the gameplay is as good as NG2, let alone NGB/S. and i do agree by watching the latest video, the fighting was kind of stiff also really feel like a slippery game, come on, he's on top of the building and it look like he's in a ice field. i just hope there are more than 1 payable character and better storyline than NG2 or else it gonna suck just like NG2 storyline which i found to be the worst story ever in video game history. NG2 suck for 3 things, 1 is glitch, 2 is freezing, 3 is annoying cheat enemies.

Well I have the game, and I can tell you that it is way more action paced than ninja gaiden 2. OH and the framerate doesn't drop like Ninja Gaiden 2

Well I have the game (you all know how) and its not so bad. Kinda a mix of NG and GoW. I really like how is nonstop action between play and interactive fighting sequences.

That Japanese demo wasn't very impressive. Maybe rental worthy. I would much rather play Ninja Gaiden 2

I wonder if this will be the same demo as the one released in Japan a few months ago? I guess it doesn't matter though, Apr 7 is all about Dark Athena.
