Valve gets episodic webcomics, Wahoo opens up beta, Hasbro game going digital.
Penny Arcade comics headed to Steam
Valve sends along word today that Penny Arcade's triweekly updated game-centric webcomics will be offered through the publisher's downloadable-game service, Steam. New comics will be available to all Steam users at no charge. In recent months, Valve has partnered with several publishers to bring episodic content to Steam, not the least of which being Telltale Games' Sam and Max series. Penny Arcade has its own episodic adventure game in development at Hothead Games, which it plans to make available in the future as a downloadable offering for PCs and possibly next-gen consoles.
Wahoo's Saga enters open testing
Wahoo Studios this week announced its free-to-play massively multiplayer online game has entered an open beta stage. Saga offers a unique persistent-world real-time strategy game where players can choose between five different factions and maintain armies of more than 100 unique troops types. Players can choose to purchase "booster packs" that contain random troops and spells, similar to a collectible card game. Interested parties can sign up for the MMORTS through the publisher's Web site.
Atari stacking Jenga blocks on Wii, DS
Adding to the influx of board games rushing to consoles, Atari today revealed it would be bringing Hasbro's classic block-stacking game Jenga to the Nintendo Wii and DS. Developed by Atomic Planet, Jenga has been designed specifically to take advantage of both systems' unique control schemes. Power-ups and other enhancements have also been added in to provide a new twist. Jenga will ship for both the Wii and DS this November.
Wow... let me see... $10 for real Jenga pieces. I wonder how much for a Wii game about Jenga. I know the Wiimote is novel with it's motion sensors, etc, but come on, who in their right mind would spend more on a Wii game about Jenga than to actually purchase Jenga and play it? No wonder Atari has been losing money. They should fire the brainiac behind their game development division.
Jenga?
News about games should be about good games, not just any game.
I'm sorry ... i fail to understand why is this in the news section .... move it to useless junk section !!! :D
Jenga?...JENGA?! What the CRAP!? Seriously, the Wii needs to get more than just some neat proof of concept games and a couple of remakes or it's not gonna last...
Jenga... No matter how realistic the physics will be it still won't feel the same
KingSigy What isn't on Steam? ---------------------------- a lot...
Jenga?? Atari is really reaching in the bottom of the barrel. I don't see a virtual block stacking game as being the publisher's savior :P
Steam has taught me that PS3 system updates are nothing to complain about.
What isn't on Steam?
Jenga.....worst gaming idea ever. Why buy something that you can buy in real life for ALOT cheaper & w/o electricity?
Why the hell would I want to load up steam to read Penny Arcade? I've got a perfectly good web browser here.
I love Jenga. Not so sure if brining in a game form is a good thing though.
Jenga? For real?
How the heck is Jenga going to work on the Ds and Wii, what a stupid idea.
Wow, Jenga in the form of a video game? Now developers really are running out of ideas.

what the hedge is STEAM?
I wouldn't be shocked if Penny Arcade's game is going to be on Steam.
I love Penny Arcade, but I don't see why I would want to download it through Steam. I understand how companies want digital distribution to be the next big thing, but it's hard to beat the simplicity of a web site.
Oh man, I can't wait to get new Penny-Arcade comics on my Steam account. This certainly isn't pointless.
Jenga for the Wii. Apparently when your company loses 70 million dollars Jenga will be the solution to make you profitable again. We look forward to it Atari. . . schmucks.
Jenga better have a full-blown plot or someone dies in the morning...
Don't you just love all the exclusive games for the Wii...
I hate steam
Penny Arcade isn't funny.
LULZ @ Jenga
PA comics on Steam is...well its stupid. What a waste of an idea. Though I guess its a way to get those who haven't read the comics to understand the game more when it's released. Sega's game sounds interesting... Jenga on the Wii...well thats kinda cool. Maybe the should do a collaboration of games on there as well. Not just Jenga.
There's really no reason why anyone would read PA on Steam as opposed to Mozilla or IE.
ookkaayy... so what
My thoughts exactly, Simu. If you have net access, you don't need Steam feeding you webcomics.
Was it so difficult for people to go to penny-arcade.com (or add the RSS to their LiveJournal friends list) that they really felt another distribution channel was necessary?
Penny arcade is funny
