Ninja Gaiden 2, Castlevania 3 Dracula's Curse and Battletoads (3 of the BEST NES games) are a lot better, entertaining and addictive than the 95% of the new gen games. We (The 'oldies') Really appreciate these releases. When i played Ninja Gaiden 2 for the first time (in my blocky, ugly and soooooo dino-gen NES) i was... 10-12 years old i think Now we (Again 'The Oldies') can play again these GREAT games on our new consoles and we really like that. On the other hand YOU (the kiddies, younger or whatever) Should give respect to these games. All of your new gen games are based on these. For example, MGS series are pretty similar to MGS and MGS2, only in 3d, with voices and all that eye candy, but the game is the same thing (more or less) NEVER existed a better castlevania then Castlevania 3. The kids should play these games, for know what a GREAT game is and what a hard game is. The difficulty of these old gems are a lot harder than anything you know. Ninja Gaiden 2 is a Cinematic-Fast-Action-Emotional game... 9.5/10 if you ask me.
NES game gets rated for Wii, arcade classic hits PS3 tomorrow, upcoming Tom Clancy game gets an Xbox 360 theme.
ESRB rates Ninja Gaiden II for Wii
The Entertainment Software Rating Board has updated its site with another batch of verdicts on new games, and as has happened before, included in the update is a rating for a previously unannounced title. Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden recently arrived on the Virtual Console, and it appears to be getting some company soon, because the ESRB has issued an E for Everyone rating to Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos. Originally released in 1990, the second part of the NES trilogy refined Ryu's ability to scale walls and introduced shadow ninja backups to the array of power-ups.
PS3 set to Joust tomorrow
The eternal struggle between ostrich-like creatures and vulture-like creatures began with the arcade version of Joust in 1982 and has raged for decades on a variety of platforms. Sony Online Entertainment will add one more to the list tomorrow. It has confirmed the Thursday release of Joust for the PlayStation 3. The game features online multiplayer action as well as leaderboards, and it will sell for $4.99.
EndWar gets Paris Burning theme
The first promotional bullets are flying in Tom Clancy's EndWar, because a new theme for the recently announced game is available on the Xbox Live Marketplace. Titled "Paris Burning," the theme predictably depicts The City of Light all lit up with the glow of armed conflict. The theme is now available worldwide for 150 Microsoft points ($1.87).
I thought this was info on Ninja Gaiden 2 for current gen systems. Damn you gamespot, damn you and your trickery.
kyo_tetsuei....I agree with you 100% Our generation INVENTED video games, and guys our age are the ones who develope the newer games also. Have some respect for the clasics, most of them are running on emulators so they dont require the effort that the latest and greatest games require, so why not have them?
ohh man ninja gaiden 2 is one of my favs games on the nes i still remember playing the jap ver of it alothough i never understodd anything the game was soo good that i just had 2 finish it off n after a lil while i got the trilogy of gaiden in ninja gaiden black as well i love this game:D
Alright, it's pretty obvious that all these releases of older games be it whatever console is generating two main types of responses: 1) "Wow, this is great!" - This crowd usually is around to have played the originals, and this is a great return of classics that we grew up with. 2) "Quit releasing these games and start making new stuff!" - This crowd usually isn't old enough to have played the classics when they first came out. While understandable that the younger games might not exactly understand/appreciate these releases, you should realize that just because there are releases of older games, doesn't mean that all production of new games is halted. You'll still get your newer, flashy, graphic-intensive games that you grew up with, and leave us 'old folks' to enjoy the classics that we enjoyed on the older consoles and arcades of our 'youth'. I was born the year Joust came out. I still played that game for hours when I came across it years later. Give these games a try if you haven't played them. You just might like them.
Stop your damn whining!!!!!!! If you want to play the original 3 Ninja Gaiden's the you need to earn them and beat Ninja Gaiden on the xbox. I earned all three of them. And 20 years from now the xbox version of Ninja Gaiden with the original 3 versions is going to be a collectors item!
to all the haters on here. Stop it you don't like old games good for you! honestly though most of these old games are better than the crap we see put out now. Ninja Gaiden 2 is a classic game and a very good one at that. you don't want to play then don't play it! Stop trying to hate because you think it makes you sound cool/hip because it does not/. you just sound like a moron!!!!
I got so excited when I saw Ninja Gaiden 2, thinking that it would be for the Xbox 360. I'm patient though...
Nice. While Ninja Gaiden 2 is significantly easier that 1, it's my fav of the series. Easily some of the best game music of the NES era, and Ashtar is every bit as cool as Sepharoth.
Context clues kids. "Ninja Gaiden II, Joust . . . " sounds like a retro newsline to me. I'm going to Destructoid. This community just got real young real quick.
Team Ninja are D***Heads, for crying out loud get a new Ninja Gaiden game out and stop re-hashing old stuff !!!
The NES version of Ninja Gaiden is a bad game. The Wii is a great system but a ported money maker like Ninja Gaiden 2 for the VC is not needed. Quit buying old ports associated with new games and they'll stop wasting their time on them.
awww =[ ..... i saw "Ninja Gaiden II" an got all excited for a second... hmm... "Ninja Gaiden II"......"Ninja Gaiden 2"......... mehh =S
Who cares, we need a sequil to Ninja Gaiden/Black/Sigma not some old NES game. Besides, isn't the old Ninja Gaiden II aready on Black.
Joust, eh? Well Rampage is up... that's better than Joust anyway. Hooray for the upscaling with 1.8!
Ya, these young bucs dont know nuthin bout REAL games and their orgins. All they know of is the crap that comes out now that they think is best things that ever happend to gammin. Bring on "vintage" NG2 as i welcome it with open arms!!!!
Alex_THVK Seriously, anyone who didn't know those news were gonna be about the NES Ninja Gaiden 2 are probably under 16. ------------------------- LOL no kidding... I cruse all you young whipper snappers...
Seriously, anyone who didn't know those news were gonna be about the NES Ninja Gaiden 2 are probably under 16. Imma get it as soon as it comes out.
LOL - kids these days. I assure you though, as exited as any of you whipersnapers were at the thought of a "new Ninja Gaiden 2", whatever the hell that would mean, I am ten times more exited at the re-release for VC. Ahhhhh, good times. Funny how some kids are dissapointed to find out that this is a NES game, I would have been dissapointed were I to find out that they actually meant current gen.
What?!?, I was expecting a Real Ninja Gaiden II, not this piece of crap that is older than my grandpha!!
Geez I get the point, I wasn't bashing the game, I guess the word "current" Ninja Gaiden would have been a better choice of words over "real" Nija Gaiden. I always forget how touchy gamers are...jebus...
I think the ages of people on this site are really showing. Those of us that saw "Ninja Gaiden 2" and immediatly thought of the original series, are old enough to remember the NES days, and in our mid 20's and up. Those that thought "sequel to Ninja Gaiden in name only" are obviously children or young teens. And too young to even be playing what is essentially an r-rated game. Besides, if it really was a sequel to the Xbox series, don't you think there would've been more coverage about it, and fanboys going nuts over on the forums?
Oh, the original version of Ninja Gaiden 2. I was excited for a moment. It's still cool, but new things never hurt.
Joust better not be the only update to the PSN store tomorrow like last week. Especially with Sony's Gamer Day just hitting. Well there is the sweetness of 1.8
EndWar looks awesome, but I still don't see why they have to charge 150 points for themes. It's just a bunch of screens that you can go online and see whenever, only they're there all the time. Nonetheless, I know they try to make as much money as possible, no matter what it takes (Guitar Hero II tracks).
Ninja Gaiden 2 was my favorite I think... Joust is boring (goes well with PS3...)... and the EndWar theme is nice. Check it out.
crap, i was soo hoping for a new ninja gaiden. gamespot seriously needs to put virtual console somewhere on the head line.
Just like a lot of other people, I thought they meant a new NG in the series ha ha. I can still have some fun with NG2 though.
EndWar theme is pretty cool, but charging for it already? C'mon Ubi. You haven't even given us enough time to get excited yet. WTF.
Well said Bigbudd0045 and stormeagle6. I'll tell you what is REALLY misleading. At the risk of sounding like an ESRB tool, NG II should have been an E 10+ rating because there was some animated blood, especially in the cut scene (no pun intended) when one of the major characters gets literally stabbed in the back. There's also blood in the near end after defeating one of the final bosses. The music and atmosphere are much darker than the first and third games, which makes this the best of the 8-bit NES series.
If you refer to Ninja Gaiden for the Xbox as the REAL Ninja Gaiden, you are a tool. The original Ninja Gaiden was a ho hum arcade brawler, the console version shared little but the name and introduced cut scenes (I believe first one to really do so) which paved the way for FMV and such. Kids should be banned from this site, or at least there should be an adults site (not for nudity for people with some gaming knowledge). Ive seen the numbers average gamer is between 24 and 32, you think these kids can afford to game. I know kids hate history but learn youre gaming history.
Ninja Gaiden II was one of the better NES games, and the best in the series. Thankfully it's nowhere near as hard as the first one, which was just ridiculous in it's difficulty. If they do NG III, they should base it on the Famicom version, which had unlimited continues as well as passwords.
"Ya thats what i thought too Ganon, i thought it was Ninja Gaiden 2 as well" It IS Ninja Gaiden 2. Anything current gen would be Ninja Gaiden 4.
