Ubisoft's shooter gets a demo, Perpetual MMOG beta takes names, plus news on Capcom zombie game, Audition, Lost Planet, Blizzard competitions.
GRAW2 multiplayer demo coming to PC
Three months removed from its console debut, Ubisoft's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is nearly set to be unleashed on PCs. To tide the clamoring crowd over, Ubisoft has announced a multiplayer demo for the modern-day first-person shooter, to be available June 7. The demo includes the new Calavera map, as well as two modes: team deathmatch and the new recon versus assault, where the elite Ghost squad must storm a rebel encampment. As with the original Advanced Warfighter, Swedish developer GRIN is on PC-development duty. Expect the full retail version to hit PCs June 26.
Gods and Heroes beta sign-ups start
Beta season is upon us, it would seem. Closed beta sign-ups have begun for Gods and Heroes: Rome Rising, Perpetual Entertainment's upcoming massively multiplayer online game set in the antiquity. Gods and Heroes posits players in the role of a direct descendant of Olympus who's tasked with saving the Empire from beasts of legend. Players have the unique ability to command their own squadrons while battling mythological monsters. Published under Sony Online Entertainment's growing umbrella of MMOGs, it is slated to launch this fall.
Nexon's dance MMOG seeing success
Two months in, and Nexon's latest free-to-play massively multiplayer online game Audition has logged 100,000 subscribers in North America. The game features rhythm-based cooperative and competitive gameplay as well as extensive avatar customization. Based in Seoul, South Korea, Nexon applies a microtransaction-based business model, where the game is free but users can purchase items to enhance their experience with real-world cash. Earlier this year, Nexon announced another of its microtransaction-based games, MapleStory, had hit 3 million North American users, in three months, no less.
Free map headed to X360 Lost Planet
Those who purchased Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Collector's Edition were greeted with a bonus multiplayer map among the other goodies packed in. That map, Battleground, will soon be free to everyone else. Capcom today has announced that Battleground will be available for download over Xbox Live Marketplace beginning June 7. Set in a desolate, frigid abandoned town, the map features indoor, outdoor, and multilevel combat. Also available over XBL are Map Pack #1 and Map Pack #2, both going for 400 Microsoft points ($5).
WOW, WCIII regional finals at House of Blues
Human hordes are officially encouraged to descend on San Diego's House of Blues. Blizzard will be hosting the regional finals for two games from its flagship franchise, World of Warcraft and Warcraft III. Competitors from the massively multiplayer sect will battle it out in five-versus-five player-versus-player combat. For the real-time strategy crowd, combatants will face off mano a mano. Cash prizes and a ticket to BlizzCon 2007 are on the line. Admission is free, and the action begins June 2 at 11 a.m. PDT and lasts through June 3.
Dead Rising hits 1M milestone, XBL content
Attributed as one half of the success driving Capcom to beat its earnings projections, Dead Rising has sold 1 million copies, according to the publisher. Capcom is celebrating the milestone with a bevy of downloadables available over Xbox Live. Coming gratis from the downloadable content are three costumes: a pure white suit, an accountant's duds, and a striped suit. Two picture packs and two themes round out the content. The picture packs will go for 50 Microsoft points ($0.62) and the themes will set gamers back 150 Microsoft points ($1.87).
a chargable megabuster with alternate weapons would be ze awesome. Dead Rising 2 is up there with my wants along with RE 5 =)
Umm, 1PSman, I think you are gonna have to wait a long while. M$ paid a hefty sum to keep Dead Rising and Lost Planet series exclusive. Capcom even came out and mentioned that in a previous interview that aside from those games, they wanted to make all other games multi-plat.
Not that I'm complaining about the free extras, but really would've liked to see an update that allows bigger text on standard TVs. I haven't gotten Lost Planet yet but I heard there was a similar problem on it that they fixed on an update, so why not do the same for Dead Rising. Also, wouldn't the people who bought the Lost Planet CE be a bit gimped like that. I mean that extra map was probably one of the CE's main drawing points. I was considering getting the CE for Lost Planet but since that extra map is already available for free I'd probably just get the normal edition.
I thought Dead Rising was rather mediocre. Nice concept, but it was far too complicated, and the save system was horrible. It should've played more like State of Emergency.
mycheatcodeemai, you buy an Xbox 360 version of the game if it's your choice to, or your computer can't run the game at high quality or even the minimum requirements for that matter. Or a game is exclusive to either Xbox 360 or PC. It's all about choice.
Almost Every xbox360 games, PC also have it, Are this mean xbox360 not so famous ? I got an xbox360 & PC also, then why I buy xbox360 for what ?.
I thought dead rising was a pretty amazing game, but there where some things that made the game verry annoying and stress inducing at one point. the bosses where tedious and a bit too hard (remember the friggin gunstore guy??? i tried getting behind the counter to chainsaw him and he threw me out! also the bathroom save is a terrible idea. standing in one place to shoot [WTF?!] there are also some incredible things (Achievement unlocked: you walked 10000 feet anyone) to wap it up, i hope the co-op rumor is true and it's free... the fans deserve it!
YAY! We reached sales numbers we didn't expect. So lets celebrate by rewarding our fanbase/customers with some DL content... that they'll of course being PAYING us for :-\ No thanx M$
Dead Rising was an ok game. Fun for a while then it gets so repeditive. There needs to be a really good survival zombie game where you're not confinded to one spot and your lead pipe doesn't break!
I got a 360 mainly for Dead Rising. Wouldn't have regretted it if that was the only good thing there, neither.
Since Dead Rising reached the 1 million milestone for Capcom you would think that the downloadable content will be free. Picture packs, themes, and new cloths isn't worth the few bucks especially when there is free cloths for Dead Rising already.Give us an extension to the game. Allow us to see beyond the mall - something!
Dead rising =good. Dude, do you guys remember those weird yellow raincoat cult dudes? Wern't they really bizzare?
I got Dead Rising the (day after the) DAY IT CAME OUT, and I still have fun playing it for hours on end. Any news on the Co-Op that EGM reported for release on August 8 (1 year anniversary thing coming packed in with Platinum Hits edition; 800 MS points for Download)? I hope it wasn't just a really sweet rumor... dead rising sold my my 360 until that i was looking foreward to motorstorm

I hate it when you have to pay for all of the downloadable content. Having more free ones would be nice ;)
I have to admit...downloadable content does sound pretty sweet. When I get the PS3, I think I'll finally get online.
Dead rising was amazing even in its hardcoreness. but its kinda boring to play now these days. Maybe Id pick it up again if they release some REAL downloadable content like I dunno...new places or weapons or bosses maybe?
okay, i heard not too long ago that dead rising was getting a MAJOR update that included online co-op, where is that........i dont need to play this game again for the 4th time wearing a different suit...what a dumb update
I agree with FPSunionOWNS except I own a 360 and Dead Rising. But I've still seen the movie a ton of times!
dead rising is good when your me and has wanted a 360 for 3 months and has seen dawn of the dead 5 and a half times.
Who knew Capcom doing something decent would bring out so many whining babies? Last time I checked, Capcom was under exactly zero obligation to create any downloadable content whatsoever. Free suits and a free Lost Planet map, that's not bad at all.
i like dead rising it's alot of fun killing zombies, but i'm never going to buy, cause the whole psychopath thing, just weren't engaging, or fun, but frustrating...
yeah.. nice DR content /endsarcasim.. they could of at least added new characters/extension to the mall/achievements/multiplayer!!!
Yeah-I was pretty pumped to find out if Dead Rising was going to come to the PC as well...I'm such a huge zombie fan and having such an awesome game ported to the PC would have meant tremendous news...bummer.
We need a PS3 Dead Rising. SInce I am only going to buy a 360 when Culdcept comes out for it, and I don't want to wait that long. Also I cannot wait for Maple Story for the DS.
Wow a bunch of virtual clothes that we can virtually use to dress a virtual character like a bunch of little girls playing with paper dolls. That's getting virtually ridiculous...............no actually rediculous.
free map headed to lost planet is a first for microsoft. ( the first downloadable multiplayer content that is free)
imperial_agent go here and you can see what is in each pack. http://www.xbox.com/en-US/live/marketplace/gamerpics.htm
"i either thought it was dead rising announced for the ps3 or a second game for the 360... unfortunatly it was neither....." I thought there was a news post here on Gamespot not long ago saying Dead Rising was getting a sequel and that it would be on the 360 as well as the PS3.....
