New Zelda 3DS in development - Report

I think it's time for moviequest14, megakick, and everyone else to just stop, think about it, then remember that we are all different people, with different views, and we probably always will. The best we can do is learn to accept it. Peace out.

To all you people who want a new ip from ninty, just know that they have plenty of franchises on their hands, too many as it would seem. Rather than selling them off to the highest bidder or some such( can you say SONY?), they hold on to ALL of them, or at least most, the last time (and first, but I don't really study this stuff) I've seen them sell something was Rare (along with Rares games). As we all know if you just keep pouring water into a cup (no matter how large), it will eventually spilleth over ( gotta love the word spilleth) and I would say the nintendo cup is just about to become filled. Not saying they should sell Metroid or something, but they should do what they did with Punchout and Kid Icarus, not make any more games for a little while for a few of their worn-out franchises, take a breather, and sit and think of something new, something...creative. Mario's hundredth spin-off, Kirby's umpteenth adventure, and Link's countless handheld games can wait for a few years, or seven, or twelve. You may be out raged, you may have had your heart's feelings sung out like a song, but please, don't take this personally ( still getting the Wii U and 3DS though...and maybe a vita while I am at it)

@Ovirew you're right. Nintendo just can't depend on those classic games ( although they're good and I like them ) I also would like Nintendo to make a new kind of game.

Not surprising that Nintendo would put a Zelda game on its new handheld. The interesting bit of news related to this story is the rumor the new game will play like a console Zelda game, rather than the "Link to the Past"-like games we typically see on the handhelds. Either way, this new Zelda game will undoubtedly yet another reason to own a 3DS.

@Ovirew : And just in recent articles I have strongly supported Sony and Microsoft both (though less so for microsoft as there hasn't been much news for them in either direction).Just because you see something in some 3-odd articles doesn't mean that is the standard...but you however of my respect is lessening in.

@megakick : ok then,give me 1 360 article I have ''trolled'' and supply the quotes for it.Give me the last ps3 article I have commented on that has been flagged for trolling? And how then do I know that? I see no reviews,info,or anything of the sort from your page saying you even own one Nintendo system now...and that doesn't mean you aren't an anti-Nintendo troll..are a wii or ds your troll-immunity papers?

@Ovirew : I have actually noted several times that Nintendo has mess up...I have said before that they have royally ###### up with the 3ds launch. The 3ds is a portable,the expectations for portables are seldom if ever as high or equal with home systems...the 3ds has also already been fully announced while the possibility for a new ip for wii-u is highly possible.If you think megakick is right about ANYTHING than this has been the the only article you have seen him comment on...he trolls literally every single nintendo article with (often) the most immature comments on the page.Re-hashes...we have seen 2 ''rehashes'' in the past couple years and countless new releases.Now for you I haven't seen many-to-any positive Nintendo comments so I guess I should then label you a fanboy? Check out his record before considering megakick to walk on water...check out how he acts while saying things like this ''This must be the hardcore gaming Nintendo is talking about. ZOMG!!!! I can't for Mario Paint U!!!'' etc. etc. almost every Nintendo-related comment he makes either ''doesn't meet with display criteria'',is modded for trolling,or is buried in thumbs down...check your sources before quoting for them.

@moviequest14 Megakick is completely right about you. You're just being another big Nintendo fanboy who always defends Nintendo no matter what they do. I know my comments haven't been particularly kind towards Nintendo lately, but I've been playing and buying Nintendo products for years now and I've formed my own opinions about them. I'm not impressed by what they're doing lately. Maybe you're okay with Nintendo making re-hashes and barely putting any effort into a lot of their games but demanding consistent or higher sales, but not all of us are. Likewise, maybe you're okay with the fact that the closest thing the 3DS got to a 'new IP' was SteelDiver, but many of us would like something more than Mario and Zelda from Nintendo. What I find funny is that you will be disappointed if all you have to look forward to on the Wii-U is Mario and Zelda, but not on the 3DS. I don't get why you'd expect a new IP on one system and not the other, but you probably said that just for argument's sake.

@Ovirew : It has done them pretty #### well so far for 25 years...anyways,I strongly believe that Nintendo will release a new i.p for the wii-u and if not I myself will be among the disappointed.

Hated Wind waker, but Spirit Tracks was enjoyable. People just remember the bait and switch tactics and are still annoyed by the 2002 demo. I know I still am.

@dawnofhero that's what i'm talking about! i hope it happens, one can dream! @kreegan64 i believe that OoT on the N64 was originally rated T for teen. I remember because i was pretty young at the time of it's release, but saw a commercial for it and asked my parents for it for my birthday that year. they had me rent it first and watch me play it to make sure it wasn't too violent/scary (they had no idea what it was) but my point is i think they did that because they saw it wasn't rated E.

Why do half of the Loz fanatics say that the toon style of Wind Waker (and the DS games) is "not true to the series style"? If they made a zelda game that's slightly different in general but keeps true to in its core (*coughs* WIND WAKER), then guess what, its a part of the series' style. It's if Nintendo made an M-rated Zelda game (ugh, that left a bad taste) would they be straying away from LoZ, wanna know why? Because LoZ has always been E rated (Twilight princess being the sole exception) and for the most part has had a cartoonic style (unless any of you have had a recent encounter with people who have oddly-shaped heads, long six-inch noses and ears, and hammer-headed princesses wanting to marry them) I am not hating the style of TP, I actually enjoyed its slight darker tone and sense of realism. However, even this game had cartoon-like characters and creatures (most two-legged enemies had short stubby legs, and many characters had caricature-like features) and Oot had darker places (graveyard and the dungeon under Kakariko), But I would hate to see LoZ turn into The Legend of Castlevania. I doubt many people disagree, but I also doubt all will agree. To each their own I guess

@punkdsk8erdude A full fledged remake of Zelda 1, 2, and A Link to the Past, all in 3D environments sounds good to me. Can you imagine Link in a dark tunnel fighting a ferocious, bloodied Lynel in HD??

Personally, I would like to see some new IPs in addition to new games. Doesn't anyone else get tired of the same old Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kirby selection? They're good games and all, but that isn't enough to carry Nintendo forever.

I can understand why Anouma didn't want to do another remake yet. The 3DS was and still is being accused of being a remake/port machine (there are games that aren't remakes/ports on the 3DS) and Nintendo already released Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64 3D this year. Let's get some more new games out, shall we?

If I should hope for another remake it would have to be Wind Waker, but new installments in the series is probably the best - need something new to remake for future consoles :)

Majora's Mask 3D NOW!

New 3DS Zelda game = YES Possible Majora's Mask remake = HECK YES Though I would prefer they release Majora's Mask 3D first, if only because I think they could get it to us fast and still get the new game on the market as soon as it's done being developed.

i'm a fan of ocarina of time i never played majora's mask i always wanted to play it i would of played it if my N64 didn't break but ocarina of time looked good for the 3ds but i like to see wind waker or majora's mask for the 3ds

I don't see how this is really news, of course they were working on a new one immediately after the last one shipped. I'd be stunned if there wasn't a new Starfox in development too. The remakes are quicker and safer and basically pay for development of the engine, to be used going forward. The look will probably change some, but the core code under neath probably won't outside of a few tweaks...

Im not suggesting Nintendo should slow down or quit making classics but they need some new blood...

also...just throwing this out there to anybody... who would like to see a remake of a Zelda game not on the 3DS, but on the Wii U? Therefore not one generation jump graphically, but a two or 3 generations jump? As I said in my previous comment we might not see a Wii U zelda for a while because they take so long to make, but what if we saw a remake of Ocarina (unlikely) or Majora's Mask in full beautiful 1080p HD? This time redone from SCRATCH, not just reskinned & retextured like ooT3d, i'm talking a full on REMAKE. Who'd rather see that than see MM on 3DS? I know I would. And if they did that and had it as a launch game for Wii U, that thing would not be able to stay on the shelves even if it wanted to.

@CamoBullo that would be great to see that. In fact, given the idea of creating two versions of the same game we heard about with the next Super Smash Bros, one on 3ds and one on Wii U that link up in some way, something similar could be done with the next zelda games. The next Zelda on 3DS & the next one Wii U could be connected in some way but would, for technical reasons, obiously have to be two completely different games. Just related, and in some way connect to each other. That would be great! Only thing is I think we will not see another console Zelda for a while...SS is just coming out in a couple weeks and they've been working on that since they released TP, so for about 5 or 6 years. After releasing that, the next Zelda on Wii U has to be even bigger & better, so that's a lot of work on Nintendo's part. But they could do it if they really wanted to!

I'm glad to see its not another remake, I love Ocarina and Majora's Mask but I don't want to see them remade back to back.

Guys, GUYS, Druggernaut's talking to ME. @dRuGGeRnaUt Let me say it simple, There's a HUGE Difference between the Brand Name and a series. Mario is, frankly, the only Video game character to do more than 1 thing, he has MANY DIFFERENT series, Fighting, 3D Platforming,2D Platforming, RPG, Sports, Its not rehashing, its using Mario. Halo, is a shooter, thats it, Mario is nerely Every genre you can think of while Innovating, its not the same gameplay all the time.

@punkdsk8erdude I agree with your vision of what the new Zelda game should be like. The return of the OoT / MM Link in a brand new adventure would be most welcome in my book.

I'd love to see another Oracle of Ages/Seasons-like game to come out. Oracle of Ages was awesome, so if Nintendo worked on TWO new Zelda's that can link up to each other, while being different games at the core, would be a delight.

Not that I don't like or enjoy Mario, Zelda and Metroid games etc, but can we have a new decent IP Nintendo? If Pikmin was your last [and I think it was], that was quite some time ago don't you think?

Nintendo doesn't really know anything about "gamer's interests" these days. Most zelda fans want a MM remake, but nintendo knows what's better for us don't they?

@punkdsk8erdude Yea I was joking but I also think its a good idea, the ending of MM doesn't really give you any closer closure (but most zelda games don't) and theirs more and more speculation that the dead guy that teaches you moves in TP is the hero of time, it would be nice to see how it happened if its true.

@dRuGGeRnaUt (con't) Halo 4 is not the 4th game to feature the Halo name, btw. But i give credit to the Halo series for keeping it new & exciting enough while not trying to fix what ain't broken, and not releasing a new halo that's the same as the last every year like CoD. But just because 62 games feature Mario either in name or as a character, doesn't mean anything. He's a very versatile plumber ;) All of those 62 games are very different. You can not under any circumstance say other wise, it's a simple fact. Granted there are series within those 62 games, the Super Mario series, the New Super Mario Bros series, the Mario Party series, the Paper Mario series, etc etc, basically with every game mentioned there are more than 1 of them yes, but if you look at each series individually there are only a couple...2, maybe 3 games (with the exception of Mario Party, but the first was on N64!!) within each series, and they are not released annually, Nintendo takes some time & effort into each one. Basically what I'm saying is, what you said is simply incorrect. I dunno about the number of games Mario is in, but your statement "mario is... well mario" is pretty naive. "So yes, there are a lot of FPS's, but they are different games" is, to some degree, correct. But let me restate it for you to be even more correct. "So yes, there are a lot of Mario games, but they are VERY different games." There you go! :)

@dRuGGeRnaUt do you mean to tell me that Mario Tennis, Mario Super Sluggers, Mario at whatever Olympics, Mario Kart, Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Bros, Mario & Luigi, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Paper Mario, Mario Party, and whatever other Mario games you've counted, are the SAME!??? Just because they have Mario in it? Bahahahaha you've got to be kidding me. Yes, the sports games all have the same vibe as far as being not serious sims of the sports they represent, but they are fun, more accessible than the Maddens and NHLs and MLBs that come out every single year. They are Mario THEMED, that's all. Mario party is the same thing...a party/virtual board game essentially thats mario themed. The other ones i mentioned are more literal mario games, but again they are all sooo very different spanning different genres and platforms! The issue you refer to with rehashed games doesn't apply as much to Halo as other FPS this gen, it only takes 3 or 4 literally identical games with the name Call of Duty to be considered rehashed and repetetive. None of the mario games i mentioned suffer from that issue. Even super mario galaxy 2 compared to 1 saw some pretty drastic gameplay changes! (tbc....)
