New Walking Dead content before season two, teases writer

Gary Whitta says Telltale crafting new content for zombie game to release before second season kicks off.
Telltale Games is currently working on additional The Walking Dead content, but it's not the second season. Writer Gary Whitta told IGN today that the studio understands gamers are eager for more content and won't make them wait until season two to jump back in.
"I can tell you what you already know, which is season two is coming. There's not much to say because it is really very early…it's a way off," Whitta said. "But, knowing that it's a way off, and knowing that people are hungry for more Walking Dead…there may very well be more Walking Dead from Telltale before season two. We may have a little something extra for you between season one and two."
No further information was divulged, and a Telltale Games representative was not immediately available to comment.
Telltale's The Walking Dead series was praised by critics at launch last April and took home the Adventure Game of the Year award during the 2013 Game Developers Choice Awards earlier this month. The entire five-game series sold more than 8.5 million episodes, with the average user spending $16.

I wonder what it could be, maybe like a Season 1/2 midquel? Or maybe a short one-off story.
2 Like walking dead is the best game I have played in a long long time. Id argue it was better than the show simply because is was basically an interactive show where you get to make the decisions. such an EPIC game and that was proper use of the word epic.
It was alot better than the show. The show seem's so financially restricted, why you have a hole season set in one location. Zombie apocolypse going on yet there spending 10'z of episode's on a farm, what a cop out.
@LukeWesty@djpetitteThat was actually the truth since season 2. AMC significantly cut the budget, doubled the required episode count and wanted the viewers to see the zombies less among other things. That's why we saw Rick crying in the farmhouse for the first 6 episodes or something. You can read about it here.

@wyan_ @LukeWesty @djpetitte Wow, its funny coming across your link after I just spent most of yesterday and today trying to catch up. I was halfway through season 2 and started thinking "Damn if only this was on HBO or Showtime".

Although I don't have a PS3 and I don't have neither played this game nor watched the TV series or even read the comic (I just watched a video walkthrough of this game on Youtube), I found this game quite interesting from the point of view of the storyline (I loved every second of it) and the huge amount of moral choices available. Looking forward to watching Season 2 and see what happened to the suriving characters!
3 Like Awesome... I was so absorbed by this game, no other game ever came close to being so incredibly emotional for me. I can't wait for more and am very happy they will be working on a second season.
1 Like I liked the game but it bugged me that my choices didn't really seem to matter all that much in the end. I got a few different perspectives depending on them and different scenes but the end result was pretty much the same for the most part. I'd hope this would change but then it'd present development problems for the season to season continuum I guess.

What killed the moral choices for me was that they had such little effect on the story. Making them rather pointless.
@Scarab83 @SoreThumbsBill It was retconned after the Road to Woodbury book completely altered her personality. They're two different people now.
It's not the same Lily. Both are military women but in the comics Lily's dad was killed by walkers trying to protect her.
I think there is a wiki somewhere that explains the differences.

That cliffhanger thing? I thought that was "good enough."XP Then again, they DID sell 8.5 million copies so maybe not. I'm all for more. It was quite the experience.

I am pretty sure clem will be able to hold her own next season against the walkers. Its the people of next season that I am worried about.

1 Like I know TWD is babby's first adventure game for a lot of you, and it WAS a great game...I just hope that they don't forget to keep making traditional adventure games too. More puzzles and such.
I'm glad so many people were able to appreciate it considering it was almost completely story and character dependent. I didn't think the average gamer was capable of that.
If your making Telltale, I'm buying. I loved the Back to the Future game, loved The Walking Dead. I can't wait for more gaming goodness from this company.
I love walking dead and i love the game honestly, it is awesome but like someone said in the comment before I played the game the second time with different choices and the outcome was the same with very minimal differences! In the next game i would like to see different endings, and also you can actually choose the survivors through the episodes. Because some survivors die no matter what you do in the 1 game. I do like to see more choices and more affect in the story. Similar to heavy rain for example would be nice. Many choices, many endings and so on.
1 Like Id like to see more choices that actually matter this time around in season 2, in the end of season 1 your choices didn't make much of a difference.
@LazyGamerX Agreed! I played 2 times with opposite choices but I was disappointed to see that the outcome was the same just with very minimal differences in execution.
@Salehjamal @LazyGamerX I dont feel like replaying the game right now but I was wondering about 1 of the choices in episode 2. When the 2 brothers from the Dairy come at your motel asking for gas,what happens if you deny their offer of following them to their dairy where the whole episode takes place???

Hopefully it's an epilogue. Maybe they got the idea for season 2 and decided they should make some DLC to bridge it.

@Gamer_4_Fun no i am perfectly happy paying the $25 or so it costs. i want them to be able to make more games and if they make it free they wont be able to afford to do that unless they put adds in the game or something like that which will ruin the game. and $25 isn't that much even for a kid.
