New Tomb Raider due by holiday 2011?

I really hope this is true! Loved all the Tomb Raider games (Bar Angel of darkness and underworld due to its glitches and stuff) but the first games were amazing and legend was the best for next gen. I've been waiting for more information on this Tomb raider reboot since march after the disappointment of Underworld but so far from what I've heard this looks like a great step for the tomb raider series and I really hope it happens

I don't think Tomb Raider or Lara Craft need anymore makeovers Crystal Dynamics did a very good gob on updating Tomb Raider Underworld making the changes to game-play combat graphics. It is just to bad that Tomb Raider Underworld did not get the kind of acceptance it deserved. the game was chewed up and spate-out by you people that don't like playing as a female and by it's critics on the games minor glitches that are in other games texture popping is the same in Assassins Creed and 2 but in Assassins creed the game is appreciated. Do I have and play AC 1&2 yes. Do I love AC 1&2 yes do I overlook the glitches in AC 1&2 yes. Do I have and play Tomb Raider Underworld yes do I love to play Tomb Raider Underworld yes do I overlook the glitches in Tomb Raider Underworld yes I do because as a gamer I am open minded and honest If I was worried about the glitches in video games I would not be buying video games.

What?!? The concept art on Joel Boucquemont's website looks like stuff used for Legend and Underworld. Dude doesn't work at Crystal anymore so he obviously doesn't have anything to do with possible new Tomb Raider for 2011. Rumors about young Lara, Japanese island and 'female-friendly' makeover are old news.

tomb raider, i hate them all because of the damn puzzles i never did finish the last two that i bought 2 years back and am not the only one, my ex gave up on them too after i gave them to her and now they just collecting dust

@supadave841 Legend wasn't bad, and Anniversary was actually pretty good, especially if you grew up playing the original. Not saying it's better than Uncharted, but I definitely enjoyed playing it.

Uncharted fans you people make me laugh. To stop making Tomb Raider just becuse you hate the game is not going to happen. If you don't like the game then don't buy it. Uncharted the Tomb Raider clone will never replace the true Tomb Raider from 1996 to 2008 and on Lara Croft has bin and always be the true Tomb Raider where other games just followed it's lead.

they need to give up already, uncharted took over the tomb raiding adventures. i cant see another lame tomb raider beating uncharted 1 and 2 out of its throne.

Lara Croft? Japan? Sounds intresting, although i've only played Legend.

Given how Eidos is pumping out great quality this year with Just Cause 2 and the upcoming new Deus Ex, I got a feeling they will hit the nail on the head with this new Tomb Raider. The redesign for Lara is all apart of a better marketing strategy. They want the franchise to feel new from the ground up. Hopefully Eidos will use the experiences from their most recent projects to get Lara back into the spotlight.

@Philly1UPer Tomb Raider is well past its prime. Its becoming the next Sonic the Hedgehog with every installment getting a bit worse. Underworld was actually pretty decent, but the combat is still horrendous in Tomb Raider games. Get rid of the damn lock on targeting system that hasn't changed in 14 years!!. Let's face it. Uncharted is the new king of Tomb raiding! Nathan Drake kills Lara.

Please just let Lara Croft die peacefully.

They keep trying to reinvent Lara Croft instead of simply trying to make a good game. The Origin I read was simple. Lara at age 15 when the Family Jet crashes in the Rain Forest. With the help of the plane's captain Lara makes it half way before he dies. Then Lara had to survive on her own and make it the rest of the way out. Having experienced life on the edge Lara could never be satisfied with just being Lady Croft and used her money seek out adventure ever since.

The Uncharted series is doing exactly what Lara is should be doing. Concentrate on gameplay and story. Don't worry about Lara's Design. Hey, How about a Tombraider/Uncharted game now that would rock if you put Lara and Nate together using the engine from Resident Evil 5.

I used to love the TR games but lately I have given up hope on the franchise and it looks like the latest game won't be restoring my hope anytime soon

I'm an avid TR player ever since the first one came out, and I have to say, with the exception of Angel of Death (?) I enjoyed most of them, especially Underworld. It felt whole to me in a mature Tomb Raider kind of way, but then again - I was looking for a mature tomb raider game. Perhaps that was the problem with it's popularity.

If they can improve the shooting controls (similar to Gears) and go away from the somewhat cartoony visuals to more realism, then I would absolutely get it without a second thought. Longer playtime and a greater focus on grave robbing wouldn't hurt either.

Sounds cool but they need to make sure its not fill with bugs and glitches. If that artwork is for the next Tomb Raider then I got to say they're great plus if the story is just just as great as uncharted. I might actually play a Tomb Raider game because the last one I played was Legend on the PS2. Also I think the Guardian Of Light might be a great co-op game.

Hate to break it to you all, tomb raider sells well, or they wouldn't keep making it. I loved the last 2 tomb Raiders with the new overhauled control system and movement. Keep them coming!

I trust Crystal Dynamics. They did a great job with the remake of the original TR. I'll be looking forward to this.

Eh. All of you "Uncharted" fans, get a grip. This is good news to me and I'll be waiting for it to hit. I think the last several games in the series have proven the franchise is not dusty or broken (as "Angel of Darkness" so obviously was, we fans admit), and that we are still justified in our devotion. If you don't like it, no one is making you buy it.

These concept artworks are NOT for the next Tomb Raider game! They are for a game called ´Downfall´, that was cancelled and had nothing to do with Tomb Raider.

I am definitely not feeling Guardian of Light. I hope a demo sways my opinion, but I am not excited OR buying based on what I have seen so far. I have all of the Lara games for my 360, and will buy the next new full release whenever it gets here. Underworld was really great in my opinion. Totally underappreciated game. Play it if you haven't. I have been a hooked fan ever since the first one.

why do they keep rebooting a series that doesnt work anymore? Lara Croft is clearly no longer relevant to gamers who expect Gears of War or Uncharted levels these days. Perhaps they should look at doing something original! Or something new for the Legacy of Kain series! :D

remake of 2,3,4,5 will be great and add stealth on 5 so that the vision of the last level will be complete

With all due respect just end the Tomb Raider franchise, seriously........Just end it and move on to something new. How many titles have to fail until they finally pull the plug for good?

I don't like change :c I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing lukewarm reviews on an "arcade style Tomb Raider" They're robbing us it seems of the exploration aspect of the series in general, if I remember correctly this looks and plays like an arcade shooter? Bad move Square, bad move.

I think this is good news.I loved Legend,Anniversary,and Underworld.Hope it will be good like these games. BTW I hope thats not Lara`s new look.I liked more Lara with guns.In that picture,she looks like some savage.

I knew it! Im enormous Tomb Raider fan and I knew Crystal was cooking new game besides that awkward Diablo-clon. God I just hope it isn't a movie tie-in because it's rumored that third movie is in the making. And it would be great if they introduced some survival-horror elements too.

Tomb Raider: Legend, although it was the shortest, was still one of my favourite tomb raiders, i don't know why though.

Crystal D did a great job 'rebooting' the franchise with Legend and Anniversary. Unfortunately, Underworld was a bit of a step back. Hopefully they'll get back on track with the next game.

New concept art looks a lot like Kate Beckinsale. But this article is good news. I've always enjoyed the series but it's faltered in recent years. Seeing a reboot, and it done with care, would be a very good thing. This series deserves a remarkable game. Also, I know I'm alone on this, but I'd like to see Croft bump into Drake from Uncharted in some sort of crossover. I think it would be entertaining to see how the two would interact.

If they take a few cues from Uncharted, Tomb Raider may be able to make a come-back- though i still have yet to play a TR game i've enjoyed, with the exception of the first one (which came out at a time when ANY third person 3D adventure game would've impressed me)

I thought Underworld was pretty good, I think it performed less than expected though due to the release date they chose for it. They released it in that one month timeframe between mid-October to mid-November of 2008 where we saw the release of other highly anticipated titles like Dead Space, Fable 2, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Left 4 Dead, CoD World At War, Mirror's Edge, Far Cry 2, and End War. Even some of these good games saw lower than expected sales, due to all the high quality titles releasing all at once. All the console sales of Tomb Raider Underworld that are tracked on VGChartz shows it has sold about 2.5 million on the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, and Wii, which isn't too bad. That's better than the 2.1 million Dead Space has made since its release, another game that under performed but was actually pretty friggin good. Anyhow, I'm glad they may actually make another Tomb Raider, I really enjoyed the last one. And considering they've tried introducing a multi-game story arc through Legend and Underworld, it'd be nice for a change if they at least got to finish it up... though they say it's going to center this around a young Lara I don't see how they're going to tie up the story, but I'm still just glad they're making another game.
