Plumbing siblings make their comeback in their home country on May 25; game still on schedule for North American release on May 15.
Japan's Mainichi Shimbun and other media outlets report that Nintendo has fixed the Japanese release date for the DS game New Super Mario Brothers. The highly anticipated game is set to hit stores May 25 with a sticker price of 4,800 yen (about $40).
US gamers will get a head start when New Super Mario Bros. drops in North America on May 15. It's not clear why Nintendo has chosen to delay the launch in its home market, but it stands to reason that the company simply wants a few more days to build inventory. Demand for the title will no doubt be high, as the DS continues to be a popular seller.
its a bloody miracle! we're getting a mario game before japan! now theres a first (if there have already been games released here first that i cant think of then my bad)
"europe, what's that? hehehe " well a considerable amount of europe is needed to keep you trigger happy yanky prats in order so you don't start a war because someone's playing their music to loud, that's what! dumb americans
now what i wanna see is a PS3 version of this that uses the Eye Toy 2!!! it would be ultra-high definition (which actually exists...it looks so realistic that it causes motion sickness to most people who view it...not to mention that it takes up terrabytes of size) and like the revolution controller, mario/luigi would be controlled by arm movements (and even better, body movements as well!!! OR!!!! there could be a side-scroller with a treadmill-type controller, and when you run forward the treadmill counteracts ur moves, and same when u go backwards, so mario/luigi will run at the same speed u run, and jump whenever you jump (etc. etc.)!!!! this would be a 2D game of course.
Some people just don't read the posts. May 15th for N.A. and 25th for Japan. I'm damn excited! PEACE
It amazed me at the people that say, "O wow, another mario game, what a surprise" sarcastically. First of all, Mario is the Mascot of Nintendo. That alone will let you know that they will continue to make mario games for as long as Nintendo will be around. Its just like saying, Oh, Halo 3. I wish Microsoft would stop making the same old game over and over. Or perhaps, Metal Gear Solid 4 is just the same thing as the others with extra features, big deal. Either way, its all stupid to say in the first place. Noted that MGS and Halo arent exactly true mascots but the closest to one, since Sonys original would be Mascot Crash Bandicoot, went multi platform. Of course there will be mario games and of course People will buy them because they are indeed ridiculously fun. As well as MGS and the Halo games are.
Well, May 15 here I come. Perhaps my wife will buy the new Super Mario Bros. for me as a one-year wedding anniversary present, along with a shiny new DS Lite :)
Would be nice to make a new REAL Mario Bros. game such as this for the Gamecube. Sunshine was ok but its not really the Mario we`ve all come to know and love.
One thing I will clear up I am not saying that Mario is boring but to me is getting a little dated. I want to see more creation in the games that Nintendo makes.Like if they want to keep with mario why can't you make new bad guys other then Bowser. Stuff like that it would be cool to see a franchise where you personally are Bowser and you rule and run stuff and have to send out orders to get Mario but would be even bigger then that.Like Meating new guys that Bowser will have to fight.THat would be neat to see.
indeed this will be another superb game. and to all those ppl trolling stop wining and actually read the news!
Well, BlackIceJoe, why are you even commenting on something you could care less about to begin with? Personally I agree that Nintendo should be creating new franchises, but quality is quality. Nintendo continues to make Mario games because people still want them. As far as I'm concerened as long as the games are well designed and fun to play, I'll continue to buy Mario, Zelda and Metroid games.
^ Totally agree. "Splitwaveyo Game still on shedule for North American release on May 15. Did you guys not read the post....?" And people of Gamespot please get a 6th grade grammer education. LOLing @ ya first 2 posters. no offense...
"I could care less about Mario I want to see new franchises from Nintendo not the same old thing." What? There hasn't been a new 2D Mario game since forever. I can't stand it when people say Nintendo doesn't make any new franchises while copies of Eternal Darkness, Pikmin, Geist, Battalion Wars, Custom Robo, Chibi Robo, Cubivore, and Trace Memory, among others, die on the vine. Nintendo creates more new franchises than just about any other developer/publisher out there.
I hope they'll sell this game in a bundle with the new NDS lite ... I don't own a DS yet and i'm waiting for the lite version.
man, Nintendo must really be focusing all its creative energy into the Revolution, I mean come on, throwing "New" in front of something isn't exactly Mario-worthy.
So now America is getting some Nintendo love by getting the A+ titles first. I hope the Revolution comes here first with my Zelda!
Well that's weird. An all-new Super Mario Bros. being sold in America before Japan?! It would really be reasonable to sell the return of SMB to its home in Japan first.
"see a new franchise from Nintendo"~ blackIceJoe That is crazy talk... something new and inovative from Nintendo... like that'll ever happen.
