I wonder if this article was intended to be released months ago, before Redemption came out? Instead of after the third issue came out...
Dark Horse representative Jeremy Atkins says the studio will write a new entry this year; no official word from Electronic Arts or BioWare yet.
Fans of BioWare's Mass Effect fiction series thirsting for more space-faring adventure can get their hands on a new comic series later this year from Dark Horse if a report proves accurate.
According to Newsarama, reporting from the 2011 Chicago Comics & Entertainment Expo, Dark Horse Comics will publish a new Mass Effect comic later this year.
The news is sourced to Dark Horse rep Jeremy Atkins, who was very straightforward. "We are going to publish another Mass Effect series later this year," he said.
Neither Electronic Arts nor BioWare has offered word on a new Mass Effect series, but with Mass Effect 3 pegged for a simultaneous multiplatform release this holiday, a tie-in comic would seem fitting.
The latest BioWare/Dark Horse collaboration came in the form of Mass Effect Evolution, a comic book that bridged the storyline from the end of Mass Effect to the beginning of Mass Effect 2.
I love these games, and the 3rd one looks to be awesome. Looking forward to the release of the actual game and even these comic books.
this will take place on earth. I gotta say Bioware knows how to make me intrigued. Love Mass Effect and will surely get this one.
These comic books for the ME universe are terrible. I'm a huge fan of the series and I love when games break into literature (I have every Halo Novel, the first two ME novels, and novels for Starcraft, Brute Force, Resident Evil, Crimson Skies, Perfect Dark, etc..., but I've been reading these previous comic they've released for ME and they're reallly messing up the ME lore. Especially the first Contact war. The comic book makes the fight at Shanxi seem more like a racist move toward the Turians rather than defense against them. Especially since the retcon apparently makes Human technology somehow superior to Turian technology. It also doesn't make sense how the Turians are supposedly explorijng Shanxi in the hopes of discovering Reaper technology. They don't even know the Reapers exist yet! The Comics have really screwed up the lore of the books and games.
A comic that is awesome. I love the Mass Effect Series. It keeps getting better and better. I can't wait for ME3.
@Barighm -- I'm not sure they really DO take important plot elements out of the games. I mean, sure, reading them definitely adds something, but I think the important aspects are summed up pretty well in game. My sister, a hardcore Mass Effect fan who hasn't read the comics, didn't miss a thing.
I wish these comics didn't strip away important plot elements from the main game. It's like the devs assume everyone will read the comic, or the publishers want you to buy it, so they remove those bits of story. You may be surprised how much more interesting Mass Effect's story is when you include those missing plot elements.
Except Evolution does nothing to bridge the series between ME1 and 2... they're getting Evolution mixed up with Redemption... Anyway, I'd be all for a new comic series. Redemption was just okay, but Evolution has been very interesting so far. And I'm always down for more Mass Effect.
Yup, Evolution is a current ongoing. Also, the PS3 "interactive ME1" comic thing was a more recent collaboration between Bioware and Dark Horse.
