New Left 4 Dead 2 DLC hits July 24

Valve confirms long-in-development downloadable content Cold Stream headed to PC, Mac, and Xbox 360 later this month alongside Mutation update.
Following more than a year of playtesting, Valve is ready to release its Cold Stream downloadable content for Left 4 Dead 2, the company announced on the game's blog recently. The DLC is due on July 24 and packs in ports of the original Left 4 Dead campaigns Blood Harvest, Crash Course, Dead Air, and Death Toll, as well as an all-new campaign called Cold Stream.
An update for Left 4 Dead 2 will also be released on July 24, which will make all mutations available at all times, allowing gamers to play the Taannkk!, Gib Fest, or user-created mutations whenever they like. Additionally, Valve said it has "some other surprises and details" to share at a later date.
Cold Stream entered a beta period for the PC and Mac in March 2011 and is still available in that form for those players. No price was announced for Cold Stream, and as of press time, Valve had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.

Been too long since I played some L4D2. I was waiting for this Mutation update.
Last Man on Earth all day.
I'm not sure about buying this. I've already played/beaten Cold Stream, yeah it was beta and there's minor (so far) changes that have been made but I don't know if it's going to be worth buying, plus I own L4D1 already as well. I guess I will have to see when the 'other surprises and details' are released.

I criticized L4D2 pretty harshly, but I have to admit.... I've had an L4D shaped hole in my heart recently. Welcome home, son.
It was too much like L4D1, the characters weren't as interesting, (Coach and Ellis were cool though) and I didn't like the environment as much. Too many day time levels. It was just too similiar to the original, not enough innovation.
I have been waiting for this for like 2 years now! I am super excited that Cold Stream is finally almost done! I will be getting this on day one.
I've gotta respect a developer that supports its product this long after release. I welcome new DLC to the game, especially since I've played the crap out of everything else available. I just hope they don't overcharge because it includes almost everything from L4D 1...it's nice to have that bundled along but if you're going to charge extra it should be optional since some of us still own L4D1.

Same here...I had been thinking about playing it again recently, now I have an even better reason.,..
This game is nearly 3 years old, Why do they continue making DLC for it? Just make L4D3 already.
3 Like @69ingChimpmunks Cause we all still play the crap out of it. If you play it on PC there are mods and user created campaigns galore. It would be nice to see a L4D3 though provided it offers interesting new gameplay that cant be added to L4D2.
While I enjoyed L4D-2 I thought the game upped the frustration factor rather then suspense with the change in special infected and also an AI Director that seemed to have an all too often 'All must die' command when playing the campaign on expert. This oftern gave me a feeling that survival was down to chance more then a skill factor (in some instances) and I didn't quite enjoy it as much as the 1st.
Roll on L4D3 before i revist this franchise again!
1 Like So many PC crazed fans on this article. Anyways this is not a reason for console players to load Left 4 dead 2 back up. It has been out for far to long for this to make a difference.
2 Like @DredWulf And this is why CoD is so sucessful. If it's more than a year, better get the new one! Yesh go waste your money dude. I'm happy with my old games with FREE DLC and custom user content.
1 Like It's really hard to get excited about this considering the player base for L4D2 has shrunk dramatically since the game's release back in 2009. I used to love this game for its strong teamwork elements and even tried to get back into the game this year by searching for a team on various forums and it was a dead end because so few people use the forums anymore. Trying to get into a game using the matchmaking is a disaster since most randoms quit at the slightest sign of defeat, which is almost every time. The game is now dominated by hardcore teams who are way too experienced and make casual games impossible.
So is this going to be any different from the beta? I haven't played it yet but if there is a difference I want to wait.

Also, black mesa coming out this year and then we have Half Life 3 coming in the distant/near future!Time to wipe the floor with the consoles, like 2004 all over again!
5 Like This is a weak bit of news, for PC players anyway. We have already had access to literally everything this update has to offer for over a year now. Are we supposed to be excited for the "official" release of a product we have been playing for 12 months?
@Poodger I agree but the mutation addition is something we haven't had yet... the ability to set them up rather than this stupid rotation thing that we've had. I'm a massive fan of Follow the Liter, the one where only one can spawns at a time in scavenge mode. Of course knowing the multiplayer community, nobody will care after the initial buzz and will just go back to versus.

Wait just a minute. So they're selling me something I've been playing since I got L4D2, again?
2 Like Its free for pc and all the campaign is available now, except cold stream is still in beta for more than a year. As for xbox 360, its out in late July and its not free(I think).
Bundling this with the L4D1 maps will mean they will charge us.
If they do, I won't be buying it.
4 Like @kerrman It will be free for PC users but Microsoft forces them to charge for DLC on the Xbox otherwise they have already said that the L4D2 DLC would of been free on xbox as well as PC. Also PC Gamers already have the original L4D1 maps so it only backs up my point that we will get the new map free.

@Richardthe3rd If you got it on PC then you should never of shut it down, Mods are amazing....10vs10 versus mode with a cash mod is nuts! If you're console though then meh...get a PC.
