New Grand Theft Auto V 'business' screens, more in a 'few weeks'

Rockstar caps off week with four new "business" screenshots showing off helicopters, sports cars, guns, and biplanes; more shots coming in "a few weeks."

Those eager for new images from Grand Theft Auto V are, for a third time this week, in luck. Rockstar Games this morning released four new "business" screenshots to the company's news blog.

The images show off a range of activities, environments, and actions from GTAV, including urban police chases, a harbor-set shoot-out, and a biplane flying over a countryside river.

These images follow new GTAV screens from Monday and Wednesday, bringing the total of never-before-seen shots from the game to 10 this week alone. The previous screenshot dispatches showed off leisure and transportation.

The wait for the next batch of new GTAV screens will likely be a bit longer than a couple of days. Rockstar said it will return with "more to see" in a few weeks, or thereabouts.

GTAV has been the subject of much speculation, with many analysts believing the game will be on store shelves by March 2013, despite Rockstar having remained silent on its release date.

Last month, Rockstar explained why it has remained largely quiet on GTAV since officially announcing it in October, saying it doesn't want to spoil the game prerelease, and it is simply not ready to show more.

When GTAV does arrive, it will do so with great sales expectations. Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia believes the game will sell 14 million copies at launch, driving $700 million in revenue. For more on GTAV, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

GTA San Andreas Killer is what I want. GTA4 was all shine, but beneath the surface it couldn't touch GTA : SA.

That's for sure and i hope they learned from that. I enjoyed Saint's Row the third more than GTA IV. GTA IV Was the first one that in terms of fun, was a step back. They forgot that what made GTA great was all the peripheral stuff you could do. SA had pushed that to it's extremes and GTA IV took away a lot of it.

@Carton_of_milk  @SolidTy The only thing I don't want from SA is the need to eat and exercise. That was completely tedious and not fun at all.

@underoath83  @Carton_of_milk  @SolidTy I disagree, that was a fun way to change your appearance from skinny to fat to cut. Training at the different gyms was fun too, all that stuff should be brought back in V.

The GTA franchise is just about the only thing that can keep up with Call of Duty and Madden these days. Some Nintendo games put up better sales numbers, but they tend to do it over the course of several years rather than all in one quarter.

San Andreas is still the Best GTA game

14 million sales at launch? lol no way. GTA series popularity dropped with IV. It will sell good, just not that much at launch.

@KillzoneSnake I disagree, look at this news article. Rockstar has every gaming website and magazine eating out of the palm of their hand with a few screenshots. Just a few screenshots is making everyone panic and want more. If this game doesn't sell better than any other GTA game or any other game the year it comes out, my name is Morgan Freeman. Rockstar's least successful game, Max Payne 3, actually lost sales due to the fact the GTA V trailer was shown when they were promoting MP3. GTA V will be an utter success, dripping with money.

Question:  could you put the photos up as a photo gallery on this site somewhere (rather than a video)?

I bet the multiplayer in this will be so good. The engine in Red Dead was such a huge improvement over 4 and I LOVED rdr deathmatch. Can't wait for this.

@Hiroo4 If it'll be anything like Max Payne 3's hidden gem of a multiplayer, it will be great.

Wow some of these shots have great looking rivers and cliffs. Maybe they learned a few tricks from Red Dead Redemption. Now all thats missing is jetpacks.

I dunno - I'm kinda done with the franchise.  Every new iteration I do a few quests, get bored, run over a bunch of old ladies, end up in the hospital, and do the last part all over again with no desire to continue the story.

@Sevenizz The only one I beat was GTA3. On the others I just got to the point where all the islands were unlocked so I could just fool around.

I promise you these screen shots are running on a PC. People tend to forget they don't make these games with a console, they make them on a power-house PC then make it optimal for a certain console. Then they screw it up porting it back over to optimize it for a PC. Screwy aint it? Yes, yes it is.

RanY2J
RanY2J

@RavenXavier Because when they take screenshots in PC, they don't give much fuck about the configuration of a extreme high end computer. But when porting, they turn lazy and just port what they did for PS3 (Lags most)) to start off from 50% of work. Rockstar has a history of making ridiculous ports and I am sure they won't even bother to release a PC version at least a 6 months after the console release. Though GTA is best played on PC with all those amazing mods. They can always give an upper hand to the consoles but at the end of the day, PC fans keep GTA Series alive. I still play San Andreas for SAMP and GTA IV for all those awesome IceEnchacer releases.

It's a shame that the consoles won't be able to represent the game in the same visual superiority as these screenshots reveal... damn you, PC gamers!!

SuperDutchy

@TxtBin The game has only been announced for the 360 and PS3...

@SuperDutchy  @TxtBin It would be strange for them not to release it on PC. Yet they never ported Red Dead Redemption to PC... I guess we'll see soon enough.

jamyskis
jamyskis

@coop36  @SuperDutchy  @TxtBin Indeed. They never released Red Dead Revolver for PC either, but they would certainly be breaking with tradition if they didn't release GTA5 on PC; as every single GTA has been released on PC, albeit with a considerable delay since GTA3. I'd certainly expect a delay of at least a year, and a PC announcement after the console versions are out.

"a few weeks" will be like 2 - 3 months to Rockstar just like how "a few months" turned out to be half a year

I hope they bring back some of the features from San Andreas. I want to sit on my couch and drink soda all day, then go outside and try to work the calories off. That was one of the more realistic things in the series. I don't know why they removed it in the last game....

@billlabowski No, I didn't hate San Andreas but I will never play it again after "finally" beating it. That game was way too long.

i just want rockstar to study gta 3 & san andreas because to me they both had

1. lovable characters

2. both introduced things found in later games developed after by many manufacturers

3. san andreas had nonstop comedy from beginning to end

4. and they both stuck to the time period (vocally and by appearance)

overall i know that this game wont disappoint

What I'm hoping for is something really new, more interiors that flow with the environment not just mission based.  I'm also hoping more more missions and random activities that are more seamless rather than the traditional GTA way where a mission feels like it takes you out of the world.

On PS2, I remember driving from one end of San Andreas to the other... It took forever... (esp with my bad driving) I can't wait to play Multiplayer on this prettier version  :3

Today's gamers seem to notice nothing but graphics. I don't remember anyone making a fuss over GTA3's crappy graphics, or trying to tell themselves it looked amazing. This game is no different. It's ugly but that shouldn't matter.

@istuffedsunny you don't remember anyone making a fuss over GTA3's "crappy graphics" because GTA3 didnt have crappy graphics.

this game is not ugly at all.  what are you smoking?  GTA4 still looks beautiful.  i should know, i play it all the time.

TxtBin

@istuffedsunny I thought GTA 3 had great graphics for the time :P

But I do think graphics are somewhat important. When the consumer is paying $60 (a significant amount) for a game which typically only lasts 8-12 hours in length (not so in the case of GTA, usually triple that length), they'd expect all aspects of the game to be at atleast an acceptable level.

@istuffedsunny I agree with you about the focus on graphic by today gamers (I'm still enjoying many PS1 and PS2 games via emulator). However, I don't get how GTA 5 is ugly. It's not Crysis standard, sure but given the scale, i'd say it's pretty damn good.
