New God of War details on April 19?

PlayStation teaser Facebook page with "GOWA_fb" directory indicates announcement concerning action franchise due next week.

God of War fans may be only a week away from a new development in the third-person action franchise. The official PlayStation Facebook page has posted a teaser image that asks, "Will vengeance bring redemption?" and includes a date: April 19.

The connection to God of War? The full image URL includes a directory of "GOWA_fb," hinting that the teaser may relate to the Kratos-fronted series. As of press time, Sony had not responded to GameSpot's request for comment.

A new God of War game from Sony would come as little surprise. In February, retailer BT Games posted a product listing for God of War IV, and a month before that, multimedia composer Timothy Williams indicated he was working on a fourth entry in the franchise.

Last year, job listings at Sony Santa Monica called for people to join the God of War development team to create multiplayer services for the franchise, including matchmaking infrastructure and leaderboards.

The tease gave no indication as to what platform might play host to the game. Last month, Sony Santa Monica senior director of product development Shannon Studstill said the franchise might be headed to the PlayStation Vita or mobile platforms.
