New details: Wizards Game Boy Advance
We bring you an update on Bits Studios' real-time strategy project for the Game Boy Advance.
Today, Bits Studios released new screenshots and the first gameplay footage of Wizards, the follow-up to Warlocked, the studio's Game Boy Color title. The sequel mixes elements of real-time strategy, arcade, platform, and puzzle games. As Arch Wizard, players control a team of fantasy characters and armies in a quest to free the land of Talismania. The evil sorceress Kun-Mara threatens the land, so players must build armies or magical warries. These can then be sent to war against computer enemies or against up to three other players.
The single-player mode features a story-based quest through Talismania. The adventure begins in the warm southern lands and leads to a showdown inside the Daggerfall Mountains, located far to the north. The strategy element lets players directly control and fight with armies and individual characters and, of course, put together strategies of what might work best. Puzzles and scenarios consist of freeing prisoners or storming bases, and there's always more than one possible way to solve tasks. Choices of routes and subquests add to the replay value of the game, along with its impressive multiplayer offering. There are capture-the-flag modes, as well as gladiators, dominion, and wizzball. More details about these specific multiplayer modes were not available at the moment. A training mode also lets players come to grips with the controls. In total, there are more than 30 levels in the game.
Wizards for the GBA is almost complete, and a publisher for the title will be announced soon.
